This post is sponsored by One Day At A Time, a Netflix Original show. All opinions are my own.
I love a good Netflix binge session and their original shows are everything. The most recent that I sat down and DEVOURED is their new one called One Day At A Time. It is a funny, wholesome family show that has a great story line. ODAAT comes from the legendary producer Norman Lear, known for his hit-TV shows Sanford and Son, All in the Family, The Jefferson, as well as the original One Day at a Time. This new take on the original show follows a Latino-American family and their cross-generational experiences. The series, a multi-camera comedy, will follow three generations of the same Cuban-American family living in the same house: a newly divorced former military mother, her teenage daughter and tween son, and her old-school mother.
My favorite character, Penelope, is a single parent that once served in Afghanistan and is currently a nurse. Her scenario alone is very current and typical of a lot of families I personally know. I am a military spouse so I clearly identify with the military part of her life and I think that most of the people I know will. She has a boy and a girl (so do I) and some of the family struggles I see her going through are the same as my own. Penelope struggles to balance her personal and work life, which I totally identify with due to working from home. Her military service left her with a shoulder injury and PTSD. Again, because I know so many military families I am all too familiar with PTSD. Such a good story.
You definitely need to check out the series for yourself. One Day At A Time, or ODAAT if you like acronyms, will be another one of your favorite Netflix shows. I PROMISE you will laugh at the well-put-together cast.
You are welcome for the gif! haha
