Laundry is one of the least exciting chores I do around the house, but who doesn’t love a load of fresh laundry? Everyone loves the feeling of warm clothes straight from the dryer and in my house the scent of Downy comes with that. I have been a strict Downy user for over 10 years. Honestly, I don’t remember there ever being a time that I wasn’t familiar with the brand. Even my mom used Downy when I was a kid. Downy Fabric Conditioner is the best when it comes to making your clothing soft, smell good, brighter, and overall extending the life of your clothing.
Not sure if you realized this, but during a ride around the washing machine, garments pull stretch, and rub together. Downy conditions, strengthens, and lubricates each fiber to protect clothing from the friction, and agitation of typical washing cycle. In addition to the protection Downy fabric conditioner offers, turning garments inside out, and washing soft fabrics like cotton on the gentle cycle will keep your clothes looking the best.
You can really see the difference when you look at my summer beach towels. These are some of the most vibrant, colorful patterns I own and you would never guess that they are more than 2 years old. I can honestly say that I credit that to Downy because it keeps towels protected from fading, pilling and fuzz. Just like with these beach towels, Downy keeps clothes from losing their shape and they actually bounce back to their store-bought form. Colors stay true and resist fading and the materials have never been softer.
So even though planning your chores isn’t a fun thing, you can at least look forward to your favorite clothes and towels coming out of the wash looking and smelling absolutely fantastic. A cute planner sticker doesn’t hurt either. haha
So the 5 tips I have for you in your laundry routine are as follows:
{one} Read the labels! Yes! Believe it or not, most of us don’t read the labels on our clothing. The tags often have washing instructions that actually MATTER!
{two} Sort your clothes. It is so easy to throw everything in a load together, but separating lights from darks, and even sectioning off shades (if possible) does wonders for preserving the original state of your clothing.
{three} Gentle cycle. Don’t forget the importance of a gentle cycle. Just like you don’t cook all of your food with the highest flame on the stove, you shouldn’t use the same cycle for all of your clothing. Soft cottons need a more gentle laundry routine.
{four} Inside out! As I stated above, the simple act of turning your some of your clothes inside out really helps.
{five} Use a fabric conditioner. I am sure you were going to guess this one considering I have been raving about Downy throughout the entire post, but it is the truth. A good fabric conditioner makes all the difference. Downy Fabric Conditioner is available at Walmart and Walmart.com for everyday low prices. Learn more and shop for it here.
