For about a year I decided to try not to use heat on my hair and if so doing so very sparingly. Looking back on pictures from the days I didn’t use heat on my hair I realized that I had some pretty horrific hair days. A year of them. In the last month or so I decided to start doing a full hot tools hair routine again. Blow drying, curling iron, flat iron…. All of it. And I am happy to say that better hair days are ahead of me. HAHA I knew I needed to start adding heat styling products back into my routine and Madam C. J. Walker Beauty Culture walked into my life and the perfect time. I started using the Silkening line which is specifically for heat styled hair.
I use the Silkening Shampoo and Conditioner in the shower. What is cool about these is that they are sulfate-free, and its not at all like so many of the other sulfate-free formulas I have used that don’t feel like they are really cleaning my hair. These feel amazing but I think it is because of the dual encapsulation technology they use. It creates a smooth finish because tiny microspheres deliver fast-absorbing brassica seed oil, a natural alternative to silicone, and deep conditioning shea oil exactly where hair needs it most. To top it all off there are time-release actives that help to extend your straight style.
On days that I am letting my hair air dry, either before bed or I am just not leaving the house, I use the Silkening Leave-In. I suffer from tangles so this is really a must for combing it out and making it manageable. This liquid leave-in doubles as a nutrient-rich conditioner and is the perfect prep for smooth heat styling without buildup. It uses the same dual encapsulation technology as the shampoo and conditioner.
For the days that I am going to be blowing my hair dry and strutting out into the world I use the Silkening Blow Out Creme. Blow dryers are where the most of my heat damage comes from so using heat protection is high on the priority list. This creme helps with easy brushing and reduces styling time.
I am so excited to be able to rock flat ironed or curly hair on a more regular basis without stressing about the heat damage that can incur. Madam C. J. Walker Beauty Culture is definitely a brand that I will be exploring further. They actually have 4 collections to help with a number of hair types and they are currently available at Sephora so check them out! If it isn’t sold at your local Sephora store check the brand’s store locator to find out exactly where you can find them!
