Contouring and highlighting are no longer the secrets of the stars and thank goodness because my face definitely needs a bit of help these days. It is super cold out and as a result I go outside less which has lead me to dull, pale complexion. Thankfully there are products out there like the Maybelline Dream Velvet Foundation and Master Contour Palette that can help me add dimension and a radiant glow. Looks to love has never been easier to achieve.
My skin type is combination/oily so finding a foundation is a struggle most of the time. My t-zone gets super shiny while other areas of my face has patches so I need a foundation that will address both of those issues simultaneously. The Maybelline Dream Velvet Foundation has a gel-whipped formula that is light and smooth. It also happens to have a matte finish. The Dream Velvet Blender is a great tool to apply it with also, and I personally think it is cute. That counts for something, right?
I happen to think that a matte face is a perfect foundation for adding in depth and dimension with contouring and highlighting. The Maybelline Master Contour Palette contains the three steps you need to bring your face to life. I love the contour in this palette because it is matte and that is exactly what you want when you are trying to add dimension.
Step 1: Contouring.
Contouring is really easy if you remember that you are adding in a shadow. It is the part of our face that is supposed to sink in, so to speak. I typically focus a contour in the hollows of my cheeks and around my temples. Sometimes I even add some to the side of my nose to make it look thinner and under my chin to hide the bulge.
Step 2: Blush.
Adding a little blush to your cheeks wakes up your entire complexion. Sometimes when we are applying foundation and concealer we are taking away the natural flush to our cheeks and adding it back helps you look awake, healthy and happy.
Step 3: Highlight.
This step has been a little more romanticized lately with the hype that is known as strobing. Strobing is essentially just a glorified highlight and you can definitely achieve that look with this palette. You apply it to the peaks of the face like the cheekbones, brow bone, peak of the upper lip, center of the nose and even the inner corner of the eyes.
Check out my before and after photos after using all of these Maybelline goodies. The best part is that it only took about 5 minutes to do all of the steps and look at the amazing transformation! The coverage of the Dream Velvet foundation is amazing and I didn’t even need to set it with a powder because the matte finish was so nice. The Master Contour Palette really brought my face back to life and the blush shade in it may just be my new favorite.
I found these products at my local Walmart while I was browsing the beauty section, like usual. They were in a tower on an end cap as well as in the usual section. It looks like the popularity of the foundation is starting to really catch on because as you can see they are flying off the shelves.
