MAC is on a roll with their collections lately and one of the most recent releases are these MAC Velvetease Lip Pencils. These lip pencils deliver the vivid colour impact of a lipstick with the ease of a mechanical pencil. Yep, no sharpener is needed at all. There are lots of bold shades in the line: blackened plum, classic red and warm chocolate. There are also a few subtly chic shades like light pinks and buttery nudes. Rich and matte, with a smooth, clean finish.
The shade I have is perfect for the season: Just Add Romance. It is a classic red and in my opinion it is PERFECT for the holidays. Nothing screams holidays more than a classic red lip, amirite?
These lip pencils are quite a bit thicker than a regular lip liner and they are also super creamy and allow the product to slip right onto the lip with little fuss. They also set pretty easily as well.
The look of them really reminds me of the latest trend of matte liquid lipsticks but it stays a touch creamier and feels way more comfortable on the lips. I didn’t experience any feathering or bleeding at all. I applied the pencil a little haphazardly and you can see that the lines I created aren’t perfect, neither did I bother to clean them up at all. I wanted to give you a true quick application look.
As you can see I don’t have product on the inside of my lip. It wasn’t extremely noticeable in person but it is also another thing that is common in matte liquid lipsticks, so I am thinking the matte component could be to blame.
I applied this lip pencil around noon and I wore it for nearly 6 hours without it moving or transferring around on my lips. I snacked and drank water throughout that time and nothing made it budge. I ate some greasy Chinese food for dinner and BOOM it was gone in minutes. I really like these MAC Velvetease Lip Pencils and Just Add Romance is really awesome.
