Are you the kind of person that hates layering on a ton of things? I feel like a lot of days I just want to do one step and be done with my face, even though that is never really the case if we are just being honest. But going through the process of serum, moisturizer, sunscreen, primer, foundation, concealer, powder, blush, bronzer, highlight… Yep. It sounds exhausting, doesn’t it? I am always looking for multi-tasking products so that I can eliminate one or two steps so that I can just live my life without thinking too hard about the little things. For that reason alone I typically skip primer and/or sunscreen but I am thrilled to tell you that I no longer have to do that. TATCHA SILKEN Pore Perfecting Sunscreen Broad Spectrum SPF 35 has taken two of those steps, married them and packaged it into a beautiful baby blue tube. This has ‘my newest addiction’ written all over it.
The slip of paper that is included in the packaging, as with all TATCHA products, tells a beautiful story:
While traveling in Japan, I discovered a 200-year-old book containing the ageless beauty rituals of the geisha. I learned that the geisha’s iconic white makeup, called oshiroi, offers remarkable sun protection. In pairing this with bintsuke-abura, the thin wax beneath her makeup, the geisha creates a poreless finish and protects her skin from cosmetics and the sun.
Using the geisha’s time-testing ingredients, we formulated a modern-day version of her protective veil. Our Silken Pore Perfecting Sunscreen offers weightless SPF 35 broad spectrum protection. Blending Japanese Wild Rose, Licorice, Silk and Loquat Left extracts, this anti-aging cream reduces the appearance of pores and smoothes skin for a glowing complexion. Our proprietary HADASEI-3 Bioactive Complex provides additional antioxidant benefits.
To use this sunscreen you just massage it onto the face after cleansing and moisturizing but before applying makeup. I really like the idea that this is a modern, advanced version of what the geisha was doing over 200 years ago. Science is awesome.
The squeeze tube is perfect; it allows you to dispense however much or little you need. The formula is pretty dense and a little goes a long way. Once rubbed into the skin there is no white case, which I love. It works really well with all of my foundations and really does give a poreless finish to even the trickiest formulas of coverage I own.
Overall, I think that this is a fantastic option for skincare and primer. It does a fabulous job at both and it has become a staple in my makeup routine. So thank you, TATCHA, for finally getting me on board with actually enjoying sunscreen and protecting my skin against the sun! You can find this and all TATCHA products at TATCHA.com and Barney’s. If you don’t want to spring for the full tube before you try it then you could always purchase the travel size for 1/4 of the price.
