One eyeshadow that I have wanted in my collection for a long time now is Pale Barley. I recently ordered it from Nordstrom and showed it in a makeup haul on my YouTube channel (if you haven’t checked it out, please do and subscribe) and I have had the pleasure of using it for a while now and wanted to share my thoughts on it.
Spoiler alert, I am obsessed with it. First of all the packaging is so luxe. It has the Nova Check pattern that Burberry is known for embossed into the top. I almost hate to use it because I know the intricacy will fade. *insert sad face*
Burberry Sheer Eye Shadow is a powder colour in a range of weather-inspired shades. The shadows can be blended to create a range of eye enhancing colours. The innovative formula uses silicones for smooth and flawless application and contains micronised satin smooth pigments to ensure long-lasting colour.
Pale Barley is a shimmery neutral sandy taupe that is much more complex than it looks. It has a slight gold sheen. Even though it is called a Sheer Eye Shadow it is anything but that. I find it to be incredibly pigmented and one of the best textures I have ever encountered. Even though it is a shimmery shade it isn’t annoyingly so, really only a pretty luminosity is what shows up.
It is soft and velvety to the touch and it blends out really beautifully.
My favorite thing about Burberry Pale Barley is that it layers with other products really well but it is excellent as an all over one-eyeshadow look.
I think that if you are a neutral lover like me you will REALLY love this shade. I want to address the similarities it has to two shades really quickly. It is a lot like MAC Patina in shade but Patina has something a little extra as far as complexity goes but the texture isn’t as good as Pale Barley. The retired Urban Decay Ruthless shade was a favorite of mine and I actually used it completely up, but from memory I would say that those two shades are extremely similar and honestly could be exact dupes. I wish I still had UD Ruthless in my collection so I could tell you 100%. If you are looking to make Burberry Pale Barley yours you can find it at Nordstrom!
