Question of the Week: Which eyeshadow primer are you reaching for most often these days?
As you can see, I don’t have just one favorite eyeshadow primer. I use a few different kinds and I have a reason for it. Sort of…
For just a plain base where I want to do any sort of eye look I tend to use the NARS Smudgeproof Eyeshadow Base or the Laura Mercier Eye Basics. I like both of these and use them interchangeably. I use the NARS one because I like the way the shadows blend over it, but I prefer the Laura Mercier one sometimes because I feel like it acts as concealer for the major redness around my eyes. Both make my eyeshadow last for ages.
When I want something to amplify the color of my eyeshadow I like to use colored bases. These aren’t marketed as primers, but once applied these specific products don’t budge and I love that. The MAC Paint Pot in Constructivist is one of my favorites for a beautiful glowy smoky eye. Maybelline Color Tattoo in Tough As Taupe is gorgeous on it’s own and even prettier with a slate or taupe eyeshadow layered over top. The Laura Mercier Metallic Creme Eye Colour is my g0-to when I want to amp up the luminosity of a shadow. I love applying matte eyeshadows over top a shimmery base just to see how pretty it becomes. Try that out!
