I think Dr. Suess said it best with, “The more you read, the more you know. The more that you learn, the more places you’ll go.” I have been a lover of reading since I was very young. I remember when my parents thought I wasn’t really reading books when I would devour an entire teen fic book in the course of a day or two. Times have changed and my life is more chaotic. I miss the days I could sit down and devote myself to a book. The thing is, I still buy them. They just collect dust on my bookshelf because they are too big to take with me. I find myself doing most of my reading while waiting at doctor’s appointments or even in car trips with the family. It isn’t feasible to bring 1-2 books with me in my purse. I recently started my 7 day reading challenge with Kobo Glo HD where I replace print books with this fabulous eReader for one whole week. I have to say that I am really loving it so far.
I think the Kobo Glo HD is great for a lot of reasons. First of all it is small and lightweight so it fits PERFECTLY in my small purse. It actually weighs less than 1 hardcover book, yet it can hold SOOOO MANY. Can you imagine having several books stuffed into a handbag? Well, I can have #ALLTHEBOOKS tucked away right in my secret pocket with the Kobo Glo HD.
Another thing I love about it is that it is so customizable. It has a 6” HD Carta E Ink touchscreen with fully adjustable ComfortLight and the convenience of adjustable fonts, sizes and margins. Not sure if many people know this, but a few months ago I got my first pair of glasses. Being able to adjust the font size is really helpful. And can we talk a minute about HOW CLEAR and paper-page-like that screen is? Amazing. I don’t know how they achieved that, but I love it.
There are tons of great books right in the eBookstore, which you can access easily through wifi. And they actually give you personalized recommendations so it is easy to find something else you will love.
Like I mentioned before, the challenge is to replace print books for a week and use just the Kobo Glo HD to see if it increased your reading time and also to see if I actually missed books in print. I actually was shocked after reading for just an hour that I had 101 page turns! I found that right there in the stats, and stats don’t lie. I took these pictures a couple days ago and I am happy to say that I am a few chapters deep in this book, which is FAR MORE than I would have been with a print book. The time never seems right to pull out a big heavy book, but using my eReader is easy. I even pulled it out and read it while I was in line at the grocery store the other day. YASSS!
I am a very tactile person. I love writing with pen and paper, I love feeling the textures of things, etc but I am so surprised that using the Kobo Glo HD felt so natural and comfortable for me.
