Do you struggle to connect with your family during mealtime? I hope I am not alone, and I don’t think that I am, but sometimes life gets hectic and it just gets easier to have everyone doing their own things. I decided that when we moved to Washington I was going to put in place some changes and one of the changes was during mealtime. I put in place a few mandatory changes and I am proud to say that my family has never felt closer! So here are my 5 tips for making mealtime memorable!
{one} Sit at the same table. This is a HUGE one. Sitting down at an actual table versus scattering around the living room is absolutely a must. It may be “old fashioned” but sitting at a table brings the family in close and everyone is focused on the same thing.
{two} No distractions. Do not have distractions like a tv, cell phones, or video games at the dinner table. It is counter productive and does not make the meal the focus.
{three} Ask questions. Every family member has his or her own thing going on every day. Mealtime is every family’s cornerstone to catch up with one another. Ask questions about everyone’s day and also LISTEN to what they are saying.
{four} Make plans. After catching up on the daily activities start looking to the future. Organize the next morning’s routine or even plan a family outing for the weekend.
{five} Enjoy the quality time. Take it all in and be in the moment. One way I have been able to do that is by ordering delivery from Papa John’s! I don’t have to be off in the kitchen by myself for an hour or more creating a meal, I order online and shortly afterwards they are at my door with a meal that everyone in my house LOVES!
Papa John’s knows that, for you, it’s not just a better pizza. It’s a meaningful conversation, a sleepover, family gathering, memorable birthday, work celebration or simply a great meal—and it’s their goal to make sure you always have the best ingredients for every moment. Once in a while it is nice to indulge in one of America’s favorite foods, pizza. Knowing that Papa John’s has NO trans fats, no MSG, no BHA or BHT, no fillers in their meat toppings and no partially hydrogenated oils makes me feel less guilty about giving into this particular indulgence.
