For the month of April at Walmart, TracFone will donate 20% of its handset sales, up to $525,000, to Dress for Success to help disadvantaged women build successful careers. TracFone has co-launched a cause marketing campaign in partnership with Dress for Success to help provide women across the country with the skills and tools they need to enter into and thrive in the workplace. I am happy to be a part of that campaign and I am going to share with you 5 tips to help you ace a phone interview!
Before becoming a full-time blogger I had a variety of jobs. You name it and I have done it. I was a loan officer at a bank, I did marketing for real estate, and I even worked in several different call centers. I know my way around a phone and how to make a standard phone call a memorable one.
{one} Dress for success. Even though you are on the phone and no one can see you, it is important to look the part. When you look good you feel good and in turn you sound great. Doing something as simple as putting on a nice shirt or pants suit can boost your confidence in a way that would shock you.
{two} Smile.
Have a mirror in front of you and try to remember and smile. Smiling is infectious and believe it or not you can hear a smile in someone’s voice over the phone. Your whole phone persona will be upbeat and happy and it will make you memorable to anyone on the other line.
{three} Take notes.
Jot down names, dates or other key things that the person on the other end of the line is saying. And always remember to say their name a couple of times during the call. It throws people off in a good way and they will love that you made a personal connection.
{four} Ask Questions.
Don’t be afraid to ask questions. Asking any sort of question will let the interviewer know that you are taking the opportunity seriously. For instance, ask how soon they are looking to fill the position or if they offer any sort of benefits.
{five} Follow up.
After you have finished the call, send an email thanking the interviewer for their time. Keep it simple and professional. It will leave a lasting impression.
You can join TracFone in helping women realize their potential by purchasing a TracFone at Walmart in April. For more information on the program, please visit the TracFone Success is Calling™ website.
