Did I mention that I LOVE Valentine’s Day? I am willing to bed I did. I love the gesture of doing sweet things for the people you love. Though you don’t need a holiday in order to do something sweet I happen to love all the pink and red that gets tossed around like confetti during this time of the year. The M&M’s® Red Velvet are so pretty, not to mention DELICIOUS! They actually inspired my whole idea to Custom Decorate Valentine’s Day Cookies with M&M’s®!
You can absolutely feel free to make your cookie dough from scratch, but I personally prefer to use store bought cookie dough. It is usually already cold which is perfect for using cookie cutters, the consistency is always right so there is no guess work, and they are probably more tasty than I could make on my own. Here is a tutorial to show you how to get the cookies ready for decorating!
{one} Sprinkle flour down on a flat surface. I used a cutting board.
{two} Put your cookie dough down on your flat surface. The flour will prevent it from sticking and tearing.
{three} Use a rolling pin or smooth drinking glass to help you roll out the dough.
{four} Use a cookie cutter to stamp out the shape you are going for.
{five} Place your cut out cookies on a cookie sheet.
{six} Bake the cookies per the instructions on the store bought cookie dough packaging.
Now you just need to grab a couple kiddos (or adults) and take your favorite cream cheese frosting, and M&M’s® Red Velvet. I created a few different designs myself, but let your imagination be your guide.
- 1 package of store bought cookie dough
- 1 bag of M&M's® Red Velvet
- Cream Cheese Frosting
- Preheat oven per the instructions on the cookie dough.
- Roll out cookie dough and cut out the hearts.
- Put cookies in the over per the instructions on the cookie dough.
- Let cookies cool on wire rack.
- Decorate with M&M's® by using the Cream Cheese Frosting to stick the to the cookie.
And don’t let yourself be limited to only the M&M’s® Red Velvet. You can use any variety of M&M’s® or even DOVE® Promises! My favorite are the chocolate ones filled with caramel! Mmmmm.
I bought all of the things I needed for these Valentine’s Day Cookies at Walmart!
