I am a huge fan of desserts. That is really apparent if you look through my recipes here on My Newest Addiction. I am an even bigger fan of getting my cooking done quickly and easily, which is why most of my recipes are titled the way they are. Having a few basic recipes under your belt is really important and I am happy to share with you one of my favorites, the Quick and Easy Cream Cheese Frosting.
From cupcakes to decorating cookies, cream cheese frosting is a real staple for sweet treats. It is rich and creamy and probably the best thing ever. And what is even better is that making this recipe is probably cheaper than buying a cup of it at the store.
- 4 oz cream cheese
- 4 oz unsalted butter
- 1½ cups powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
- Combine cream cheese and unsalted butter with a stand or hand mixer. Start mixing on low and then beat at medium speed for 3-5 minutes.
- Add in powdered sugar half a cup at a time to make sure it mixes evenly.
- Mix in vanilla extract.
This is a basic recipe and will do tons of cookies and is enough for about a dozen cupcakes. If you need more just double or triple the recipe. Need it to be pink or blue? Add in a little food coloring. I guarantee you that once you try this recipe you will never go back to a store bought cream cheese frosting ever again.
So tell me in the comments below: Is there any other staple recipes you would like to see come out of My Newest Addiction’s kitchen?
