I have been dying to master the art of the contour. Don’t get me wrong: I used to be able to do this like a CHAMP. BUT I quit tanning and spend less time outdoors in general so I find it hard to find a product that is light enough and the right tone to give me a really natural looking contour. I think I have finally found something that gives me exactly what I want and that is the Dolce & Gabbana Tan blush.
Yep. I have been contouring with a blush. The shade Tan is the perfect beige-tan goodness that I have been seeking. It isn’t too warm and it isn’t too cool. It is a lovely neutral shade that is PERFECT for contouring. It contains no shimmer but the finish is quite satin/skin like. It also applies like a dream. No patchiness, no streaking, no skipping. Just a smooth application of color.
Here is what Dolce & Gabbana says:
The Blush Luminous Cheek Color is a blush powder with subtle luminosity.
Highlight cheekbones and bring depth and a contoured look to the complexion with this blendable blush. Cheeks go radiant with a subtle glow that perfectly complements smooth, perfected skin.
“There are two ways to wear this blusher. For day, brush soft rose or peach color high on the cheekbones in a circular motion, using a large powder brush. This will give the look of flushed cheeks signifying health and outdoor activity. For evening looks, contour the face with a blush that is slightly darker than natural skin color. Brush the contour along the cheekbones, temples, and chin for a subtly sculpted effect.”–Pat McGrath, Global Creative Advisor
As you can see in the swatches below, the Dolce & Gabbana Tan Blush is a few shades darker than my skin and looks very natural and flattering in tone.
Oh, and can we talk about the STUNNING packaging on the Dolce & Gabbana Tan Blush? A shiny gold compact? YASSS! The mirror inside the compact is large, too. It provides a brush that I think would work well for contouring in a pinch but I do prefer a full sized brush for every day application.
Dolce & Gabbana Tan Blush is gorgeously packaged, has fabulous pigmentation, seamless application, and works as a blush and a contour. I think I need the rest of the shades in the line. What do you think? haha You can find these at Sephora and Nordstrom.
