I am completely obsessed with the show Downton Abbey! As you may know from my previous blog post, World Market has come out with a limited edition line with tons of beautiful pieces and delicious food! To celebrate that release I decided to have a Mommy and Me Tea Party and I invited a friend of mine and her 3 daughters to join me and Raegan. Yesterday I actually shared with you via Instagram, Twitter and Facebook the live feed from my little tea party and it was SO FUN! I had a lot of comments and interaction from my social media friends! After having such a successful party I knew you all would love to see it too!
My tea party had 6 attendees but most of them were pretty small, so they had sippy cups, but for my friend, her two older daughters and myself, I sat out these gorgeous mugs. I had the plain side facing out so that it would be a surprise when they turned it around and they saw my favorite like from Downton Abbey, “What Is A Weekend?”
It is no surprise that I found the Downton Abbey Luxury Assorted Shortbread Tin cookies were so delicious that I could eat them all on my own, but the girls LOVED them! I think I may buy a couple more tins before Christmas gets here!
The teapot is gorgeous and PROBABLY my favorite piece in the collection, although the 2-tier serving stand runs a close second. I can see these matching pieces showing up during many more tea parties in my future. Raegan is only 18 months and judging from the awesome time we had yesterday I know she will grow up to be a tea party fanatic. And I know that she will love Downton Abbey as much as I do. Lady Mary, Lady Edith and Lady Sybil would all be at her future imaginary tea parties!
In order to get the full effect of a traditional tea time I wanted to include some spreads for the cookies. The Christmas Preserves are made of plums with port and spices and it was delicious. I feel like I now must have them on my breakfast table for Christmas morning!
My favorite was the Traditional Lemon Curd. I am a self proclaimed lemon addict and this stuff is just amazing. It is a thick creamy spread that really tastes a lot like lemon pie. YUM! All the girls actually preferred this one too!
The Butler Pantry Blend tea is super delicious. It is a black tea with an essence of honey. It smells amazing. It is no wonder I loved it because I usually do add honey and lemon to my hot tea!
I sent all the girls home with a tote and mug and some great memories of a fabulous tea party! Not a bad way to spend an afternoon! I think that many of these pieces would make fabulous Christmas stocking stuffers and gifts! I know I would love a tea cup in my stocking! You can also find a ton of great stuff for Holiday baking and Holiday entertaining!
