The end of the year is here and everyone is posting their “Best of 2014” lists. Today the ladies in Makeup Wars are discussing what their favorite foundations are. Maybe I am cheating just a bit by picking 3 favorite foundations for the entire year instead of 1, but I feel like each of these do something completely different and I love them all equally. At the end I will say which one out of the 3 I would choose above all others.
First up is Dior Diorskin Star foundation as the full coverage winner. It is the newest to my foundation family and like most family members (real and foundation) we have had a rocky road. At first I hated it. I tried it with all kinds of different application methods and couldn’t make it work. I decided to try another shade because that was one of my hangups. With the new shade I was experiencing the same weirdness.
Everyone talked about the flawlessness Diorskin Star created and I was only experiencing the thick weird side of it. I FINALLY tried it with the IT Cosmetics duo-fiber foundation brush that came in the Your Most Radiant You kit and it was like a light bulb went off. The thick stuff really is magical when spread over your face in a thin layer. It is tricky to get that layer perfect but when you do, Diorskin Star is magical.
A long time favorite of mine is the IT Cosmetics CC+ Cream, it is the “no brainer” winner. It is really just the perfect no fuss foundation. It covers my flaws, corrects my redness, and provides sun protection. The finish of this stuff is like a second skin. It blends with amazing ease and looks beautiful. I cannot find a single flaw with this. I don’t even have to pay attention to details when I put this stuff on. I use my fingers, brushes, sponges, EVERYTHING and it comes out looking perfect.
When I want that luminous glow I reach for the Yves Saint Laurent Le Teint Touche Eclat. There is nothing like it. It has a nice gel consistency and applies onto the skin like a dream. The luminosity is amazing. It is that Jennifer Lopez sheen in a bottle. There is no other way to describe it. I tend to only use it during the winter months because my oily skin provides a nice sheen (haha) during the rest of the year.
Even though I think all are amazing for different reasons, the one I reach to MOST often and prefer above all others is the IT Cosmetics CC+ Cream. I have no flaws with it. There has never been a time I put it on and thought, “Ugh!” It is perfectly flawless everytime. Gotta love that!
