I recently learned of a site called Higgle.com and I am blown away by the concept. This site is a social shopping experience and what that means is that you can interact with people by joining groups, following themes/topics, and you actually influence the cost and inventory of the products they sell. It is basically like Priceline meets Pinterest meets eBay. It is hard to sum it up in so few works because it is really very interesting. I found some perfect presents for the people on my list, so I thought I would share my Higgle Holiday Gift Guide!
So for starters, sign up for your account. I created mine using my Facebook account, because that option is always so easy. You then start searching through the different categories (I like their new Gift Guide page) and explore. When you have found something that catches your eye, you either join or create a Higgle.
What’s a Higgle?
A higgle is an offer you make on a product you want to buy.
To create a higgle, click on a product you like and make an offer.
Based on your offer, we’ll tell you how many others need to join to get your offer accepted.
After you confirm your offer, the higgle is open for 3 days for others to join.
You can share the higgle with your social networks, but the best part of Higgle, is that it’s a social shopping network of other buyers – so, we’ll share your higgle with other buyers who would also be interested.
Say not enough people joined your Higgle to make it happen, you will still be sent a counter offer and the price is definitely going to be quite discounted, so you win all the way around!
I have come up with a gift guide to give you some ideas on how to get your Higgle Holiday started. I think that The Jewelry Lover, Techies, and Co-workers describe fairly popular groups on our holiday shopping list, and I found a lot of great stuff.
For the Jewelry Lover…
If you are shopping for a female you can almost NEVER go wrong with jewelry. A statement necklace, stack of rings, or timeless earrings are always going to be a hit.
For the Techie…
Who doesn’t love gadgets? I know I do. I love multi-tasking products and the Trio Cable 3 Pack is perfect — and these would make great stocking stuffers if you have more than one child who loves electronics because it comes in a set of 3! The Tego Power Powergrid is a portable electronics charge, which is perfect for people on the go. The Cordito is for when the fashionista and techie become one; it is essentially a handbag for all of your cords and accessories! YES!
For the Co-worker…
You know how you never know what to get for that crazy Christmas Work party? Well these items should be just ticket. Getting back to nature has been really popular lately, so these wooden coasters are very “in”! Another “nature themed” gift are these adorable owl book-ends. I have been hooting for owls for at least a year or two now! And who can say no to French macaron soaps?
If you think the things I included in this gift guide are cute, you should definitely check out the site for yourself. There is so much to explore and do there that you will likely get caught up for hours. I know I did! Go ahead and feel the empowerment of controlling the price you pay for the things you want and make some friends in the process!
