Being that I am from the deep south, born in Mississippi, it is a given that I am obsessed with sweet tea. I am on Nutrisystem now ( a part of their blogger program) so I am cutting out a ton of sugar from my diet. I am getting the system for free in exchange for my honest opinion and results. I have said to you guys over and over again lately that I am looking for ways to live my life like I did before, just substitute the good for the bad. My predicament is trying to find ways to have my beloved sweet tea and not consume all of the calories that go with it. I have found a solution, and it is Pure Via. In case you aren’t familiar (and I wouldn’t expect you to be since it is brand new to the market), it is a natural alternative to sugar and artificial sweetener, Non-GMO, made from the stevia plant.
Pure Via sweetens your foods and beverages and is ZERO calories and it is sourced from Non-GMO plants, not the product of bioengineering. The most important thing about this stuff is that it actually tastes good. Not sickly sweet or weird, it tastes perfect. SCORE!
At home I have been brewing my tea by the cup and then mixing in the Pure Via and pouring it over ice. It has almost become a ritual for me. I have also been keeping a few packets in my purse for when I am out and about and have a “sweet tea attack”. I like that the actual texture is fine because it dissolves really quickly and doesn’t leave that crunchy, un-blended texture that some sweeteners do.
I think it is really cool that my son actually asked to try it while we were out at lunch last week. He saw me pulling the sweetener packets out of my purse and asked me all about it. I then decided to tell him about how I am trying to cut excess sugar out of my daily routine and why I liked Pure Via. And get this. He ACTUALLY wanted to try it. And he liked it. He asked for another packet when the waitress came back and filled his tea. Small victories.
I saw these the other day at Walmart and I totally wish I would have known about this coupon to save $.55 on ONE (1) Pure Via® Non-GMO, All Natural, Zero Calorie 40 Ct. Packets, which is available while supplies last! I plan on buying more and making one of the recipes that Jewel has created with Pure Via. I may actually use some of her recipes in my Holiday cooking. I bet that Pure Via will share some other awesome recipes on their Facebook and Twitter pages as we get closer to Thanksgiving and Christmas, too!
