Ooey Gooey Cookie Brownies with M&M’s

I am a fan of all things cookies and brownies, so it makes perfect sense to mix the two together.  You know what else I love?  M&M’s! I decided to use the new MEGA M&M’s for this recipe to add some pretty pops of color, hence making them the superheroes of this dessert bar!  They turned out super ooey gooey and perfect, which is why I named them Ooey Gooey Cookie Brownies!

Funny story, when I set out to make the recipe I realized halfway into mixing everything that I didn’t have eggs in my fridge.  So instead of calling it a loss I decided that having them be a little more on the fudge-y side wouldn’t hurt.  So, here is how I made them…

What you will need:

For the brownies:

  • 1 cup sugar (white, brown or a combo of the two)
  • 1/2 cup oil or melted butter
  • 1 cup flour
  • 2 tablespoons of water
  • 1/4 cup cocoa powder

For the Cookies:

  • 1/2 stick of butter or margarine
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon of water
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup milk chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup of M&M’s

Directions:

{one}  Preheat oven to 325ºF.

{two} Mix all the ingredients for the brownies until combined.  Spread it into the bottom of an 8×8 pan.

{three} Place a layer of M&M’s down and make any design you like.

{four} Mix all the ingredients for the cookies until combined.  Dollop balls of cookie dough down over what is already in the pan.

{five} Top off all of the mounds of cookie dough with more M&M’s!

{six} Bake for 50 minutes and then let cool.

I am in love with the way they turned out, despite adversity.  My son even asked me how I got them so gooey!  True story!
