I don’t know if I am the only one who struggles with this, but I have a hard time time picking toys for my 16 month old daughter. I want to buy her things that are appropriate for her age but also want to challenge her a little bit. Learning while playing is important to me. Well there is a children’s subscription service on the market that will customize a box around your child’s age and they have the same values as I do AND they donate to charitable causes.
“Austin Lloyd is an Atlanta-based company founded on the idea that all parents want to educate their children, but sometimes it is hard (or just time consuming) to know which toys to get. That’s where we step in! We take the guess work out of choosing toys that your child will enjoy, while also gaining skills that aid in their overall development.” – Austin Lloyd
Attention to detail is something that really stands out to me and makes me want more. When Raegan opened the box and I saw her name on a sticker my heart melted. They took enough time to personalize my daughter’s box, and the proof was in that sticker.
As you can see, Raegan was simply mesmerized when she got to the toys. She had no idea what to grab next. She was a complete whirlwind throughout this whole process. I tried and tried to take pictures of her reactions to everything but it was a gigantic blur. 16 month olds, man! They are all over the place!
The stacking cups were a clear favorite for her. We actually have several sets of stacking cups in various shapes because she has loved them since birth. She carries them into the pool with her, the tub, she wants to play with them while she is eating. These are going to get a LOT of love.
This puzzle ball is probably one of the coolest things I have seen in a while. Each of these pieces comes apart and has it’s own sensory development “thing” to them. One of the layers makes a crinkly sound, one is a shaker, some are furry… Really cool ball. And the thing I love is that she figured it out pretty quickly. I think that a child reaching success is important for their confidence. When they know they can do one thing, they will be more determined to do something slightly harder.
Something that I actually really loved getting was this wooden helicopter. My husband is actually in the Navy and he works with helicopters every day. My son has a huge appreciation for them (and has several pictures inside them) but my daughter really doesn’t know what they are. I think that when she get’s older this will be something that she cherishes. Did I mention that the blades on top twirl?
This wooden roller has lots of blades of colors. It makes the sweetest clapping sound when it rolls. This is something I wasn’t sure about, but over the last few days my daughter has really taken to it. She carries it along with her everywhere. Really cute.
Another thing that I find super important in a child’s development is story time. When I read to my daughter she always reaches out and touches the pictures. I don’t necessarily KNOW that she is intently listening to the words I am saying, but one day she will! :) The book in this box had lots of pictures of beautiful skies that she loved!
Austin Lloyd was a fabulous experience for both Raegan and I. She enjoyed the excitement of getting so many surprises at once and I enjoyed that it was a good value for the money and that the brands inside were ones that I have actually purchased in the past. I feel like this was a complete success and Look forward to trying them again!
