Southern and sweet tea goes together like peas and carrots. I have been sipping tea since before pre-k. All of my favorite restaurants serve the best flavored tea and I wanted to try my hand at it so I decided to add some fresh fruit to my glass of tea. This post is all about perfect pairings. Lemons and berries, tea and potato salad: all perfect summer refreshments!
So to make my Lemon Berry Tea you first start out with an empty glass. For extra points make it a pretty mason jar…. SUPER SOUTHERN. Add in all the fresh fruit you desire. For this one I squeezed the half of a lemon into the jar and put the lemons in there, too! I also added some sliced berries and some blueberries. Not only is it tasty, but very colorful! This is the perfect tea for gatherings.
Brew your tea the way you like it. I like mine to be perfectly sweet, but feel free to keep it sugar-free if that is the way you like it. Chill the tea on ice and then pour over the berries.
Andddd voila! I also like to have tea with something really tasty. Since this is so sweet I like to pair it with something savory.
Everyone I know loves my recipe for Southern Potato Salad. I actually got the recipe from my mom. Most of my family will ONLY eat this recipe. It is just perfection and should never be altered. At least that is my opinion.
Now for how I make it…
- Russett Potatos - 5 (1 for every person +1)
- Eggs - 2 (half an egg for every person, round up)
- Dill Relish - 2 tablespoons (or to taste)
- Hellmann's Mayonaise - (to taste)
- Mustard (to taste)
- Peel and cube the potatos. I put them in a pot with 2 eggs. And put it on medium-high heat. Once it reaches a rolling boil, let it continue for 2-4 minutes until the egg is completely hard boiled. ( like to combine this step so that you aren't dirtying two different pots.
- Drain water and let cool.
- Peel eggs and then use an egg slicer. I like to use an egg slicer, but you can absolutely cube/slice them with a regular knife.
- Add in dill relish.
- Add in mustard.
- Add in mayo.
- Stir until mixed.
My basic recipe makes enough potato salad for 4 people. A tip for preparing this for a set amount of people is 1 potato for every person and one for the house. That means I used 5 potatoes, 4 people +1.
All of the ingredients are super simple and I found everything I needed at my local Walmart. And to learn about more perfect pairings visit Lipton’s website!
I like to eat this potato salad hot or cold, it is really preference. You can easily double or triple this recipe because it keeps well in the refrigerator. Perfect for easy snacking for a few days. And just so you know, toddlers love it. The potatos get nice and soft.
You are going to love my Lemon Berry Tea paired with my Southern Potato Salad and that is a promise. Tell me in the comments what you like to pair with your tea! Also tell me what sort of special flavors you include!
