I participated in a campaign on behalf of Mom Central Consulting for Zappos.com. I received product samples to facilitate my review.
Back to school shopping is such a hassle. Every year I take a child with me that has absolutely zero interest in looking for anything. My son is NOT A SHOPPER. While my daughter and I can conquer an entire mall on every visit, my son doesn’t have the interest or the patience. When I am having him try on this or that he sits slumped over and defeated. We started out trying to do that this year and then I gave up. I did, however, go online to Zappos.com to browse around for myself and noticed a Back To School tab. I clicked it and who would have guessed that my son popped up over my shoulder in NO TIME. Go figure, he is an electronics junkie.
This year is his first playing tackle football for the district and he is super amped up. He immediately started pointing out all of the Under Armour stuff because he seems many of his friends wearing that brand during football practice. He knew immediately that he wanted a sleeveless tee for practice. There was one where the logo glows in the dark that he felt he MUST own! And he absolutely needed one that said the words football, I mean DUH! ;) I am the practical one that told him he needed some shorts to match.
To wrap up the Under Armour set, we actually got a nice fleece. We live in Florida so a winter coat isn’t a necessity, but it does get semi-cold and a fleece will definitely do the trick.
My husband started chiming in. He was into skateboarding and all of that good stuff when he was younger so he started flipping through the Volcom clothing. Can you believe my husband still has some of his Volcom shirts from high school? Good quality! He picked out a pair of Volcom shorts and a Volcom tee. He picked out a thermal burnout hoodie, but it is kinda big on him. I think it should work out after washing hopefully. The good thing is, my son is 8 and grows like a weed so it isn’t terrible to round up in size when shopping for back to school. What fits at the beginning may not by end of year.
And as a parent of a child any age, boy or girl, short or tall… WE ALL KNOW SHOES HAVE TO BE PURCHASED. Even if their clothes from last school year or the summer still fit and look pristine, their shoes DO NOT. Their shoes need to be replaced on a monthly basis maybe. Well, I have been depending on Zappos for shoe shopping for I can’t tell you how long. I had a couple of pairs of shoes picked out and then I let my son take a look and he didnt like any of them. The Nike Flex Experience are the one she wanted! I am okay with that because they blend in with the color palette he chose already!
So after we submitted the order I was in SHOCK that I got a shipping notification a few hours later. I can’t remember if I got the box in 1 or 2 days, but I remember noting to myself how SHOCKINGLY fast it arrived. Like… WOW factor fast. AND I got all of these great items in one place. It was so much more of a pleasurable experience than going out and dragging my son from store to store!
