During the summer months my beauty routine becomes a lot more simple. I spend a lot of my time outdoors either at the pool or the beach. For those kinds of low key days I depend on my summer beauty essentials to keep myself looking and feeling glamorous! I don’t feel the need to apply a full face of foundation, powder, lip liner or even eye liner. I tend to throw on some lipgloss and mascara and head out the door.
I think the one thing that rings true for most ladies is the need for nail polish, especially when it gets warm out during the Summer. The shoes come off and toes are exposed. THEY NEED TO BE DECORATED! Essie is my favorite nail polish brand that I can find at the drugstore. Three of my favorite Essie polishes are Topless and Barefoot (perfect name for Summer, eh?), Penny Talk, and A Cut Above. Topless and Barefoot is a beautiful nude polish that seemingly looks good on everyone. Penny Talk is a gorgeous coppery metallic. A Cut Above is a beautiful pink multi-size glitter top coat. These shades are perfect as a mani or pedi and are all easily paired together.
A new mascara on the market that I have been LOVING lately is the Maybelline Volum’Express Pumped Up Colossal. I have always liked Maybelline mascaras and many go in my list of top 10 drugstore mascaras. This one sports their biggest mascara brush with the double curved stem delivers a double shot of mascara. The smoother formula has double the collagen and doesnt clump! WOO HOO!
Hindsight is 20/20 but I sincerely wish I hadn’t applied so much liner for this look so that you can see how much of an impact this mascara has on my lashes.
Another BRAND NEW release is the Revlon Colorstay Moisture Stain. Revlon always seems to hit it out of the park with their lip products and these definitely do not disappoint. These hybrid lip products that are hitting the market are fantastic. This one is a gel-like lipgloss that provides a long-lasting stain. It also packs a big color punch. The wide doe foot applicator allows for easy application and is comfortable on the lip. The shade I have here is called Barcelona Nights which is a super bright strawberry pink.
Oh man… does that scream summer OR WHAT?
The final summer beauty staple for me is aloe vera. While I was flitting the beauty aisles on my most recent of many trips to Walgreens I discovered they have these scented aloe vera packets. There were a few but I am a pink gal and I grabbed the one labeled Watermelon Aloe Vera Body Gel based on the color alone. Well… not solely. There are actually a TON of beauty uses for aloe vera gel. For a few examples: (a) can be mixed with sugar for a great body scrub, (b) it takes the sting/itch out of insect bites, and (c) helps sooth sun-damaged skin! Each of those examples are ESPECIALLY needed for the summer months!
I picked up all these lovely things at Walgreens, which is absolutely my beauty destination. They always have the newest, coolest products on the market and with all the things I can find there I know they have me covered all Summer. Right now when you spend $20 on your summer beauty favorites (or personal care excluding baby stuff) you get a fabulous 6-piece travel brush set as a gift. Check out this promotion link for details.
