Toys are awesome, right? Toys that teach our children are even more awesome. The Young Scientists Club have won so many Summer Toy awards and I have The Magic School Bus Engineering Lab to review for you today. My son is 8 years old and I have been loving keeping the spirit of learning and discovering alive in him this summer with this fabulous kit.
“Ms. Frizzle and her students take Young Scientists on a wild ride with The Magic School Bus as they explore the fascinating world of engineering. Young scientists are asked by Ms. Frizzle to solve all kinds of fun and unique problems that lead to discoveries in the fields of chemical, electrical, mechanical, and even civil engineering. Young Scientists become engineers when they build a solar oven, design a car, construct a bridge, create solar energy, design an electric game, make a simple machine, construct a submarine, and much, much more! This bus-shaped kit comes with 33 colorful experiment cards, a data notebook to record experiment designs, and is packed with science components such as a solar panel, motor, buzzer, electric wires, and more. Seatbelts, everyone! Get ready to design, create, and experiment with Engineering Lab! (Ages: 5 and up)” – The Young Scientists Club
So first off, the Magic School Bus Engineering Lab comes with a ton of different items to aid in your experimenting. This kit is designed for children over 5, but don’t worry because it will capture the interest of kids a lot older than that too. I mean, I am 31 and I had as much fun doing some of these activities as my son! ;) I am a big kid though!
So, once you pop the top off the bus you see these trays that hold all of the things you need! Lots of popsicle sticks, cups, electrical wiring (that you will need to handle for your kids) and even glue.
I love the little flashlight. This has a dual-function as a night light for those kids hat are a little afraid of the dark. Hey, I still get freaked out in long dark hallways, nothing wrong with it. … … Right?
Some of the more advanced engineering experiments in this kit have to do with a motor. I am very familiar with these little motors because we used them all the time when I was studying robotics. Yes, I am a beauty-blogging-mom that went to school for robotics! Brains are the truly attractive part of a person, yeah?
Anyway, you also get some fun tubing and strays and sticks to help you make other stuff…
… like learning which color absorbs more heat…
Overall, I think that The Magic School Bus Engineering Lab is a fabulous toy and it is no wonder that it won awards for best summer toy! Definitely check it out! It retails for $39.99 on TheYoungScientistsClub.com and delivers hours weeks an entire summer’s worth of fun.
