Summer collections are exciting me this year. I am losing my mind with the fabulous NARS Summer 2014 Color Collection. It is actually a rather large collection of products with some brand new products as well as some limited edition ones.
As most of you know, I have been obsessed with taupe eyeshadows since I can remember. I mean, I think the very first eyeshadow I have ever bought as a pre-teen was taupe. There is just something completely magical about that shade and all of the subcategories that fall under it—brown, tan, pewter, lilac, and even some rosy tones. The two items I have from the NARS Summer 2014 Color Collection fall under these categories. The Lost Coast Eyeshadow Duo and the Iraklion Soft Touch Pencil Shadow are my favorites!
Lost Coast is my favorite eyeshadow duo release from NARS in a long time. Both of these shades are completely up my alley and I am seriously in love. The left side of the duo is a golden pewter (taupe) and the right side is a lilac snow. They are perfectly wearable shades on their own and combined they are stunning. I think that this is probably going to be the duo that sells out first because of those reasons. Though the duo is more muted, the pigmentation is really nice and I can’t help but swoon over the texture. Perfect for your summer sultry day look.
Soft Touch Shadow Pencils are new to me so I wanted to include info from the brand in case they are new to you, too. “…provide easy, portable, long-wearing application. These jumbo sized pencils have versatile functionality to shade the lid, line, or highlight the eye. Smooth, creamy texture delivers a smooth, velvety feel to the eye and make for easy blending and an ideal base for layering with a powder shadow for increased color intensity.”
Iraklion is a smoky rose quartz. This to me is my favorite shade of taupe. The shade is a beautiful tan brown with a slight pink undertone. The texture is amazing—it transfers onto the skin so easily and blends beautifully. So far I like my first experience in Soft Touch Pencil Shadows.
So to round off this review I wanted to show you these amazing products in action. I created an eye look with Lost Coast on top and Iraklion smudged underneath. I did use NARS Bali on the outer corner of the eye just to deepen it ever-so-slightly.
