I have lived in my house now for about 3 years. We have done this and that to fix it up and make it our own, but our foyer is really awkward. It has been a struggle to figure out just the right way to make this long, narrow entry way interesting. I mean, there is some room to put SOME furniture but there is an opening on all 4 walls. Large openings. So the furniture has to be sort of skinny and small. Basically the only way to dress it up is to do something to the floors. I found a gorgeous runner from Mohawk to help me do just that!
My grandmother gave me her china cabinet a while back that has always housed her porcelain dolls. She gave it to me because I would sit and stare at the dolls in amazement since I was very small. The piece is very special to me and it is also gorgeous, so it has been in the foyer since I picked it up from Mississippi (where she lives). That is seemingly the only staple for the room. I decided to add a side table, a shoe bench, and this gorgeous rug/runner.
I personally love how it looks with the runner and the furniture. It makes the space look so much more home-y and inviting. Before it sort of looked like an empty museum, now it looks like you are walking into a place where somewhere actually lives. Speaking of museums… the walls are also awkward because there really isn’t there isn’t really any space to hang any pictures. I am already on the search for something to go there…
The runner from Mohawk is a beautiful neutral pattern that compliments all of the rooms adjacent to the foyer. My house plays on tans, taupes, browns and creams so it was the perfect piece to tie in the color as well as add a pattern for interest.
Before and after…
I am more than thrilled with the way this turned out and I think it is all due to the Mohawk runner. Mohawk offers a seriously large selection of rugs and runners that would fit literally any room you are trying to fix up or makeover. This specific rug is under the Mohawk umbrella of companies and it is American Rug Craftsman Madison Open Vista Dark Beige Rug and it is 2’1×7’10.
