Memorial Day is fast approaching and most of the United States will be getting together with friends and/or family. I know that I will be having a cook out with friends so I have to prepare what I will be making for the occasion. They are the grill-masters for the most part so I always know I will be responsible for the dessert recipe!
I was making one of my MANY trips to Walmart a few days ago and there was a lady doing a food demo.. I love seeing those people because I am usually hungry when I am walking around the store! Anyway, she was sharing these brand new TWIX Bites. They are just like the regular candy bar, but in bite size pieces! I personally think they are perfect because I always hold my TWIX stick and it melts everywhere!
I tend to ramble when I start talking candy so I will get back on point. I decided that I wanted to use these TWIX Bites in a brownie and cheesecake bar and let them be the star. These TWIX Cheesecake Bars are delicious and super easy to make! I used store bought brownie mix, two packages of TWIX Bites (one to use in the recipe and one to snack on), and the ingredients for homemade cheese cake. Those ingredients are one packaging of cream cheese, 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract, 1 egg, and 1/4 cup of sugar. There is a great coupon on Social Twist to receive $1.00 off when you buy two 2.83 oz. or larger bags OR $3.00 off when you buy two 6 oz. or larger bags.
I started out by using a store-bought brownie mix and whipped it up according to the directions on the package. I took about half of the mixture and spread it into the bottom of my greased 9×12 baking dish. This is going to be the foundation of the bar so I wanted it to be a semi-thick layer, which will allow the bar will hold up well.
I then placed the TWIX Bites on top of the brownie layer. I scattered them evenly but you can use as few or as many as you like. I tried to make it to where I had at least one of them in each bite.
I then had to mix up my ingredients for the cheesecake, which are: an 8oz package of softened cream cheese, 1/4 cup of sugar, 1/4 teaspoon of vanilla extract and 1 egg. Mix the cream cheese, sugar, and vanilla extract and beat until blended. Add in the egg and continue to beat on low until blended.
I then covered the layer of TWIX Bites with the cheesecake mixture.
I bet you were wondering what I was going to do with the rest of the brownie mixture, weren’t you? HA That doesn’t go to waste in my house. I dolloped some of the brownie mixture on top and then took a fork and swirled it around. Looks good already, right?
I placed the dish into the 375 degree oven and let it bake for 30-35 minutes. I removed it, let it cool, and then cut them into squares.
I love that the only thing in this recipe that was homemade was the cheesecake mixture because prep time was short and they look like I spent hours slaving away.
