One under appreciated makeup tool is the Cosmetic Cotton Pad. These are things that everyone purchases and would probably be lost if they were without them. I personally hoard cotton because there is NOTHING worse than running out of something you rely on. I was organizing my vanity the other day and realized how many things cotton pads do! These little guys are true work horses! The ones that I have here are from Born Pretty Store!
Remove Makeup – Apply a nice makeup remover onto the pad and start wiping away the day! I personally LOVE the Koh Gen Do Spa Water.
Remove Nail Polish – No brainer… I prefer using cotton pads over cotton balls for removing my nail polish. Cotton balls end up leaving little fuzzies behind most of the time. Cotton pads are smooth service and have the feel of being woven so they hold up against the sticky nail polish.
Apply Oils – Sometimes when I am using oils I find that it is easier to move around on the skin with a cotton pad versus my finger. And a lot of times I am in a hurry when using facial oils so I don’t want my hands to be covered in the stuff.
Apply Toner – This is a daily staple in my routine! I love applying toner after cleansing and I would be lost if I ran out of cotton to do this!
Apply Lotion or Moisturizer – When I am working on clients I like using cotton pads to apply skincare products. It makes them feel comfortable and my hands stay clean.
Blotting – I keep a few cotton pads stashed in my travel makeup bag just for blotting. It is a less expensive way to blot my t-zone than using actual blotting sheets.
Makeup Application – In a pinch these can be helpful tools for makeup application. You can apply foundation, concealer, blush, cream eyeshadow… the options there are endless!
These cotton pads from Born Pretty Store are good. They are thinner than the ones I typically use but I find that they are stronger than ones I find in my drugstore. They don’t break down as easily as most. I find that particularly helpful in nail polish removal. I do use 2-3 together when applying toner or using the KGD Spa Water because the liquid can easily sink through just one. You also can’t beat getting 400 pads for $6.99. You can get 10% off of your orders on Born Pretty Store if you use the code LGH10!
If I didn’t mention one of the ways you use cosmetic cotton pads, please tell me in the comments! I love getting new tips!
