TATCHA has been my favorite brand in skincare for over a year now. I have alway been fascinated with Asian cultures and that encompasses everything from food to beauty. You may have noticed that I often mention Asian beauty brands; it is because I think they have some of the most amazing, groundbreaking, news-worthy products. TATCHA recently released their Indigo Collection and I have the Soothing Silk Body Butter and Soothing Silk Hand Cream to show you!
As usual, the packaging and presentation is amazing. Attention to detail is a notch on their belt; they took a page out of the Geisha book on that, for sure. Opening one of these boxes is like performing an ancient ritual. The faux woodgrain box, the bright purples and blues of the inside container, and the delicate paper that is wrapping the product transport you to a time from which these products were inspired.
The inside of the paper that wraps around the product tells you a story about the collection. It gives you some insight on the inspiration behind it. The indigo collection takes you back to Japan’s Edo Period, when the “noble Samurai wore a layer of Indigo-dyed cotton beneath their armor to aid in the healing of injured skin, earning it the name “Samurai Blue.” Little inclusions like that are what adds the magic into this line of high-quality skincare!
The Soothing Silk Hand Cream ($38) is very similar to the body butter. It is creamier than most hand creams I have tried yet it absorbs into the skin and leaves them feeling comfortable and hydrated. During the winter, just like the rest of my body, I have extremely dry hands and almost nothing fixes it immediately. This one is amazing in the fact that seconds after applying it my hands look and feel amazing and they aren’t greasy. I can touch anything without fear of leaving prints behind, and I don’t even mind touching my face because I know anything left behind will agree with my skin.
The packaging is very simple. It is a squeeze tube and has a pointy nozzle for easy dispension.
PROS: Great ingredients, fantastic scent, and perfect presentation. There is lots of product in each container.
CONS: On the pricey side.
VERDICT: I am in love with both of these products. They are fantastically hydrating without being heavy on the skin and leave no residue behind. I was putting the body butter on after a shower a few days ago and the heat of the bathroom and the scent of the moisturizer were wafting into my bedroom and my husband actually gave a wolf-whistle! :) So it is husband-approved as well. I like that the body butter jar has over 6 oz of product and the hand cream has over 2 oz. I score these 4.8 out of 5.
