CC Creams are becoming a big deal. Before CC Creams the fad was BB Creams, which focussed more on the skincare aspect of the multifunctional products. The CC in CC Cream stands for Color Correcting, so it is more about the coverage while still having skincare properties. Studio Gear has a Hydrating CC Cream and I am sowing you the shade called Natural. This is actually not the full sized product. The full size retails for $34 for 1 fl oz.
“Hydrating CC Cream transforms and enhances your complexion in an incredibly light, smooth formula. This foundation simultaneously fights aging, retains moisture, and covers and treats blemishes with a non-oily, perfectly radiant finish.
Key Benefits:
- Prevents fine lines and wrinkles with collagen-building ingredients
- Restores skin elasticity by promoting moisture retention
- Brightens and illuminates skin with a non-oily, complete coverage application” – Studio Gear
The packaging is a simple squeeze tube. I only have the sample size of this but the full-size appears to be the same.
The formula contains micro-encapsulated pigments that deliver a fresh dose of color that adapts to your own skin tone resting the most natural looking coverage. It is a lightweight, oil-free crew enfaced with the proprietary Hydra-Extend technology that provides up to 72 hours of continuous hydration. It helps to nourish and brighten the skin to create and protect a more youthful complexion.
There are 3 different shades: Linen, Natural, and Wheat. You pick which of these will work for you depending on your skin tone, and supposedly the white cream transforms into your most perfect shade. The swatch below shows the freshly dispensed white cream and a heavy swatch. The heavy swatch appears to be slightly to dark for me in this photo but once buffed into the skin it really starts to blend nicely, though still a little dark. It did correct my redness, freckles, and sun spots.
PROS:
No strong scent.
Good coverage.
Makes my skin feel good.
Color corrects.
Luminous, dewy finish.
CONS:
Not a perfect match, but close.
VERDICT:
I think this CC Cream deserves a 4 out of 5. I find that it is a bit gimmicky with the color-changing aspect. It is supposed to change into the perfect match and it isn’t for me. Out of the three shades sold, Natural should be the one that suits me the best but doesn’t match exactly–so it is impossible to find an exact match. I am not in the habit of purchasing makeup that doesn’t match me so I wouldn’t personally purchase this CC Cream. Everything else about this CC Cream is perfect which is why I score it so high. If it matches you in shade, you will love it.
