Airbrush makeup is something I have been interested in for the last few years. I am a freelance makeup artist in my spare time (spare time doesn’t exist anymore since Raegan was born) and airbrush systems are a big plus for that business. Possible clients want a professional look and want to achieve a look they can’t do on their own and your average lady doesn’t have an airbrush makeup machine. TEMPTU AIRbrush Makeup System is awesome because it is so easy to use! This system has made it possible for an everyday woman to get flawless skin through airbrush makeup at home! You can be your own makeup artist! I was luck enough to work with the brand and test and review this amazing machine!
The machine comes in a nice carrying/storage case and is broken up into a machine, the A/C adapter and hose, the spray tool and a storage unit for 3 pods. I only have a foundation to use in the machine but will likely get some blushes and/or highlighters added to my collection soon!
The Quick Start Guide walks you through everything from assembly to application. I tried to do it all by myself at first and really did just find until I realized there was no makeup coming out! I then read the instructions on how to get the AIRpod connected to the machine properly and it worked perfectly.
I was able to match myself to a foundation shade at TEMPTU.com on their Shade Finder page. They have 12 shades ranging from 01-Porcelain to 12-Espresso. I am actually shade 04-Sand because I am light to medium in color, I am a neutral skin tone but I find that I match to a yellow undertone better than pink. Not only was I able to find my shade of foundation but it shows what blush and highlight are perfect for me as well. I have never experienced a website that was so helpful in the aid of matching foundation shades to their customers. I literally did it from my phone on my lunch break. Bravo!
I love that the AIRpod and the airbrush wand are so sleek and comfortable to hold. It allows me to hold it easily in my hand and pull on the nozzle without any awkwardness.
The next picture is from my Instagram feed. I was sort of documenting my first attempt of using this machine. I will have to say that it went EXTREMELY well, I applied a bit too much but I was able to correct it easily. Things to note are that you can feel free holding the airbrush further from your face than expected and not having product fly all over the place. Also, don’t pull back on the trigger so much at first, really find out how to gage what is coming out first.
The application tips say that you should use circular motions and I would have to agree. I tested out a few different methods like stripes and zigzags, but circular definitely does it best and builds the coverage slowly. I could actually see my redness and dark spots vanishing, which is how I knew that the makeup itself was laying down. It left such a natural look behind that the look of perfect skin was my only gage.
I would also like to mention that I thought that it was going to be really loud, and even though it does create some noise it wasn’t loud enough to wake up my husband who is sort-of a light sleeper. I was getting ready for work a couple days ago and he was asleep. I didn’t notice him waking up or anything but thought maybe I had disturbed his slumber slightly. After I got home that afternoon I asked him if he heard me at all while I was using the machine and he said no.
The look I created was from the Holiday Look I did on Makeup Wars. I feel like it really did leave my face looking flawless! And honestly, I expected to look sort of a mess on my first time using the amazing machine. I feel like I yielded professional results and that it will only get better. And I know it has gotten better because I have used it several times since and I have had nothing but amazing results.
I would like to mention that right after application that my face looks wet. I don’t like to set it with powder so I allow it a few minutes to set (I do my eyebrows in this time period) and it leaves a nice natural finish, not necessarily dewy but a hybrid between dewy and matte. You know, the way skin should look on it’s own.
Wear time is really good in my opinion. I haven’t felt the need to blot at all and I have worn it several days. The weather has been all over the place lately here in Florida in the last week. It was 80 degrees 2 days ago and today it was high 50s, and all temperatures were the same. I came home looking the same way I left–flawless.
PROS:
Easy to use.
Easy to match yourself to a foundation.
Compact.
Comes with a travel bag/storage bag.
Quieter than expected.
No clean up required.
CONS:
I accidentally applied too much the first go round, I feel like the settings it told me to use allowed too much product.
The air coming out of the machine kept making me want to squint/close my eyes which made it hard to watch myself apply the makeup, I did get use to it but wanted to note that.
VERDICT:
I am going to score the TEMPTU AIRbrush Makeup System ($149) a 4.8 out of 5. I think that this is an all-around great airbrush machine. TEMPTU really knocked it out of the park and knocked my socks off. I am definitely going to be using this system on myself and clients! Even if the price tag sounds like it is a little steep I dare you to compare it to other systems on the market! The ease of use is what really drives this out of the park. I love that the AIRpod is pre-loaded and easy to switch in and out.
Have you ever have your makeup done through a professional that used airbrush machines? Do you own an airbrush machine? If so, tell me what you like most about airbrush in the comments!
