I am a huge fan of ritualistic asian skincare but also love innovative technology. Amarte Skincare is a brand that merges both and I have fallen head over heels for it. Not only is the packaging gorgeous and appeals to me deeply, the synergy between East and West feels effortless. In general Americans prefer more simplified skincare regimens than Koreans and this line has compacted some of those steps and combined them with surprising technological elements. A key mention is Amarte has designed a proprietary retinol preparation method to deliver the highest retinol content available! Very impressive!
The word amarte translates into “to love you” and the Amarte icon is two interwoven hearts which emanates the brand’s moto, “Love yourself. Love your skin.”
“Wonder Cream® pulls double-duty as your bodyguard and your fairy godmother, employing ActivElements® to defend your skin and lighten freckles and sunspots while the therapeutic properties of this rich cream lovingly exfoliate for a supple, translucent complexion. All the nutrient-packed protection you need to be the belle of the ball!” – Amarte Skincare
Wonder Cream is the product from the Amarte line that had me most excited. It combines nano-encapsulated retinol (a whopping 1.0%), mushroom emollient and microscopic, multitasking elemental sulfur restores a supple, uniform appearance, enhances immunity without irritation and calms and brightens skin. The combination of these ingredients allows for an extremely gentle delivery. With pearl powder and caviar extract, the skin is left with a delicate sheen and full of vitamins and minerals.
Ingredients: water, sorbitan stearate, Schizophyllan (mushroom β-glucan), natural betaine, cyclomethicone, propolis cera, elemental sulfur, Argania spinosa (argan) kernel oil, pearl powder, Saccharomyces/selenium ferment (biopeptide SC), mastic oil, tocopheryl acetate, retinol 1.0%, Myristica fragrans (nutmeg) kernel extract, Syzygium aromaticum (clove) seed extract, Eucalyptus alba leaf extract, Citrus paradisi (grapefruit) seed extract, caviar extract, allantoin, acacia collagen, sodium hyaluronate, glycerin, carbomer, stearyl glycyrrhetinate, butylene glycol, phenoxyethanol
Retinol is the active ingredient in this product; it is a retinoid that enhances skin’s radiance revitalizes. It is one of the most effective cosmetic anti aging ingredients on the market and is scientifically proven to improve wrinkles and fine lines. It alters the behavior of aged cells so they act in a more youthful manner, and stimulates the production of new blood vessels in the skin while improving skin tone. Useful in the management of acne, rosacea, oily skin, and actinic keratosis, retinol also helps decrease skin damage associated with UV exposure.
The other key ingredient is Schizophyllan (mushroom β-glucan), which is a highly purified extract of cultivated mushroom. This unique emollient actively enhances immunity and shields skin from inflammatory triggers, irritation, environmental toxins, and damage from UV exposure. It is highly moisturizing and is the main emollient featured in Wonder Cream.
Those two ingredients alone showcase East meeting West.
First I want to mention that this smells great. Sort of citrusy; fresh and uplifting.
The packaging is as beautiful as it is functional. The gold and pink opaque bottle and airless pump keep the key ingredient, retinol, from losing potency due to contact with air and light. The gold parts at the base and pump are mirror-like and the pink part has micro-shimmer. Sleek and chic.
If you are new to using a skincare product that contains retinol then this one is definitely a good one. It eases you into it with the other quality ingredients. Also, if you are new to retinol you may experience slight peeling or flaking but most won’t.
During the summer I love that my freckles increase in color and quantity but during the fall and winter I want skin like porcelain. Amarte Wonder Cream is giving me that. After just a few weeks of using this, morning and night, I have noticed my freckles have lightened up a bit and my skin is smooth and plump. The claims are real and my skin thanks Amarte! Wonder Cream is an anti-aging powerhouse. This product retails for $79 for 2.7 fl oz of product on amarteskincare.com. The value is amazing; the price may seem like it is on the higher side but if you have ever looked at other retinol products on the market you will know that most cost the same for less product.

Aqua Veil Hydrator is a phenomenal cucumber-infused, ultra-light serum that optimizes hydration by releasing droplets of pure H²0 onto the skin to form a protective veil. A toner and serum in one, this unique moisturizer gives skin a silky, youthful radiance. Featuring the active botanical extracts of orchid, lily, mallow, elderberry, English ivy, sunflower and pellitory-of-the-wall and the multi-tasking ActivElement® elemental sulfur, skin is left visibly brighter and calmer. And if I have said it once I will say it a million times, serums are my favorite skincare products. I have oily skin so theyallows me to hydrate my skin without feeling weighed down, and this serum is no exception!
Ingredients: water, cyclomethicone, dimethicone copolyol, dimethicone crosspolymer, glycerin, propylene glycol, dimethicone, natural betaine, Cucumis sativus (cucumber) fruit extract, Malva sylvestris (mallow) flower extract, Sambucus nigra (elderberry) flower extract,Arnica montana extract, Parietaria officinalis extract, Hedera helix (English ivy) extract, sodium hyaluronate, Lilium candidum (lily) flower extract, Orchis mascula (orchid) flower extract, elemental sulfur, biosaccharide gum-1, cetyl PEG/PPG-10/1 dimethicone, sodium chloride, phenoxyethanol, FD&C Blue #1, FD&C Yellow #5
This serum’s ultimate goal is to optimize the skin’s ability to absorb moisture.
This serum is very unique because it looks creamy and feels creamy but it spreads like a gel. Oddly enough it really reminds me of a cucumber, not because of the scent (which is definitely cucumber) but the feel of the product. When you slice a cucumber there is a definite gel like moisture that is on the top layer and this serum is best summed up like that. Another cucumber aspect to this serum is when you apply it to your face it feels cool and refreshing, much like the vegetable itself.
The product spreads nicely and sinks in in moments. It leaves no sticky feeling or residue behind. It is perfect for those that are in a hurry in the morning because makeup can be applied shortly after applying this serum. I have also mentioned in the past that I don’t really wear a primer or anything, usually just a serum and then makeup application. This is still true, and I find that this is a brilliant serum to prime the skin with for makeup.
Overall I enjoyed the Aqua Veil Hydrator. It’s quick absorption, hydrating, refreshing feel is amazing all while having an abundance of natural botanicals. It also has an abundance of silicones and phenoxyethanol. I personally don’t mind the silicones being in the product, and actually it may be why I find it to be such a good primer. It retails at $65 for 3.4 fl oz of product at amarteskincare.com.
