Fall is here and dull, dry skin is everywhere. Exfoliation is the way to keep your vibrancy all year round; sloughing away the old layer and keeping your skin fresh and new. A really interesting new exfoliant I have been using is the G. M. Collin Active Exfoliant Powder. This exfoliant reminds me of Dermalogica because it is essentially the same product but G.M. Collin’s version is much more affordable.
“This unique exfoliating powder activates on contact with water and transforms into a frothy-mousse like texture, eliminating impurities and sweeping away dead skin cells. The skin is soft, smooth, fresh and luminous. It combines three types of exfoliation–granular, enzymatic, and chemical.” – G. M. Collin
The packaging and delivery is simple. It has a lid that snaps closed and a pouring “spout” that is shaped like a smile. It isn’t too large so it gives you more control over what comes out than just having the entire top open. The material of the packaging is a lightweight plastic.
The rice powder granules combined with the enzymes of papaya and pineapple encourage cell renewal and perfecting your skin’s texture, while salicylic acid detaches sebum and other impurities. Sea Fennel Extract helps to clarify and brighten the skin. Skin texture is also being refined from an ingredient called Niacinamide (which is quite a powerful skincare ingredient in a lot of new products on the market). Your skin is also being softened and smoothed from Encapsulated Tea Tree Oil. Vitamin E & C Complex helps protect your skin against free radicals. All of these methods in one easy-to-use product is true perfection.
After cleansing the skin you pour about half a teaspoon of powder into the palm of your hand and add about the same amount of water. You have control over the potency of the exfoliation this product delivers. If you are looking for a gentle, daily exfoliant you would dilute the powder a bit more and if you wanted a more intense granular exfoliation you would just use less water. If you choose to do a more intense exfoliation you should limit your usage to 2-3 times a week.
I have personally tried this product both ways. I use it daily and sometimes when I want a bit more of an exfoliation (like on my ritualistic Skincare Sundays) I have made it with less water, which makes it feel more like a paste than a frothy mousse.
G.M. Collin Active Exfoliant Powder is a wonderful paraben-free powder exfoliator that I find extremely effective and it doesn’t break the bank at $39 for 1.7 oz. Definitely give this a shot whether you have sensitive skin or want a more powerful exfoliator. It will work for everyone.
