I admit it. I am a face mask JUNKIE. I take embarrassing pictures of myself in masks and post them all over my social media accounts. :) One of the brands I always see in stores and pick up are the Montagne Jeunesse. They are always on an end cap or near the checkout aisle and they are super affordable, and I can never resist. Not to mention they are of great quality. I also love that they are one-use packaging. I really don’t like having a bunch of jars here and there of half used products. I like something I can open up and throw away.
Montagne Jeunesse has been in business for 25 years have been steadily evolving. They now have their Clay Spa Face Masks. They are actually VERY exciting. It is a marriage of my two favorite types of masks. It is very much-so like a clay mask and a sheet mask had a baby. What is funny is that when I wanted to be extra luxurious on my “facial day” I would always do a clay mask to suck the impurities out and a sheet mask to restore moisture. This is like the best of both worlds.
The Red Earth Clay Spa mask has real clay, pomegranate and cinnamon. It is designed to protect the skin, cooling and calming. It is suitable for all skin types.
The Dead Sea Mud Mask is made with real mud, dead sea and sea kelp. This one is supposed to give your skin a boost of life–also good for all skin tones.
The Glacial Clay Spa Mask is made with real clay, arctic cloudberry and red grape. It has an instant cooling feel and actually maintains your skins natural barrier. Again, this one is good for all skintones.
After you tear open the packaging and unfold the mask it looks like the picture above. You apply it to a completely cleansed face by tilting the face up and laying it down. For maximum contact smooth the mask into the skin so that it is touching your skin as much as possible. You are left looking a bit like a mix of Jason or Leather Face (and if you ask me it is the perfect time to go spook someone).
DISCLOSURE: You are about to see a picture of me early in the morning after being up with a newborn all night. Yes my hair is sticking out in all directions and YES I am in an unatractive-just-had-a-cesarian-section-comfortable nightgown.
After taking off the mask (this one is the Glacial Clay Spa Mask) my face felt supple and smooth. I had the lingering effect of the cooling mask still in affect for a few minutes which was perfect because it soothingly woke me up for the day. I even applied makeup a little later on in the day and I have to admit that it looked better than usual and I will chock that up to having a fresh facial that morning with Montagne Jeunesse.
Pros
– Inexpensive.
– Mild scent.
– Cruelty free and vegetarian friendly.
– Good for all skin tones.
– Feels great on the face.
– Non-messy.
Cons
– The one-size-fits-all isn’t exactly true. I find that with all sheet masks that my face fits in them oddly.
– Had a small amount of trouble getting it to stick to my skins surface.
Montagne Jeunesse Clay Spa Face Masks are great. No fuss, no messy cleanup, and fun to wear around the house. I advise even answering your door in one if you get the chance! :) They retail for around $2.50 each and are sold anywhere that carries Montagne Jeunesse. I highly recommend them! 4 out of 5 stars!
