The second installment of Taupe-tastic Tuesday is going to feature my most recently purchase taupe: by Terry Ombre Blackstar in Misty Rock. I have been lusting after this baby for quite some time now but been too shy to pull the trigger on this fantastic purchase. It has a high price tag so I thought long and hard before my splurge. I don’t have a store nearby to check out this brand in person so I try to be extra careful when ordering online blind.
I am so happy to report that it was a smart purchase. I love owning unique neutral shades. For one I know I will get a lot of usage out of it, and secondly THEY ARE BEAUTIFUL. In the last year or so I have become a sort of lazy makeup lover. I still have days where I go all out and spend forever makign every detail of my makeup perfect, but in real day-to-day life I wanna look put together but I generally have about 10-15 minutes to do it. These pen style eyeshadow sticks are PERFECT.
Another thing I like about Misty Rock is the shimmer it offers. While it is a gorgeous color, it shimmers just enough to be noticeable. When I wear this I usually just draw it onto my eyelid, blend it out with my finger, add mascara and go! The gorgeous shimmer that these contain are due to the fact that they are formulated with Tahitian black pearl extract.
Misty Rock has a mauve undertone to it but it definitely has a flash of brown, silver, pink and maybe a hint of purple? It is one of the most gorgeous cream eyeshadows I own. One thing that worries me a bit is that it is so soft. I broke the tip doing this swatch. Luckily I didn’t have it twisted out very far so only a smidge broke off. I was able to push it back together.
Even though this is a soft, creamy eyeshadow I have had little to no problem with it creasing. It did crease on me one day, but I don’t really count that as this eyeshadow’s fault. I was outside in the 100 degree heat all day and my whole face was droopy, smudged and creased. That being said, I NEVER venture to wear an eyeshadow without a primer underneath.
by Terry Ombre Blackstar “Color-Fix” Cream Eyeshadows retail for $43 and can be purchased at Barney’s New York.
Have you tried any color makeup products from by Terry? Do you own any Ombre Blackstars? If you don’t own anything from the line, what do you think of Misty Rock? I am in love! Maybe I will do a FOTD with it soon!
