Herro.
I have been so MIA lately it isn’t funny. I was in a regular habit of writing posts that were filled with a bunch of fluff and “what I have been thinking about lately” and over the last 6-8 months I sort of stopped doing all of that… Not because I wanted to cut that content out of my blog but because the rest of my life hit me smack in the face.
Some of you know that my husband is in the Navy, and for those that didn’t–now you do, and without any real notice he had to leave last November. I live 1000 miles away from my family and have few friends in my local area so it is really hard to do it all by myself. I have a 6 year old son and when my husband is gone during the holidays it is hard on him, which in turn makes it hard on me. I am not complaining because I love my life, where I live, and I am proud that I can say my husband serves my country with honor. What I am basically trying to say is that being a mommy (all by yourself, so technically you are mommy and daddy) as well as working a full-time job leaves little to no time to have a life… Thankfully my husband is back (and has been back for a couple months) and life has resumed as it once was!
My blog is where I can get my creative outlet and chit-chat with “the girls”… Yes… YOU ARE ALL MY GIRLS! LOL I just want to take a minute to say “I MISS YOU!” I feel like when I stopped putting up these rambles and personal touches to my blog I lost interaction from my readers. I have noticed a decline in people commenting and I can’t help but feel responsible. Thank you to those of you that have been reading since the start and thank you to those of you that just started following. It is a real wonder that I still have you amazing ladies (and possibly gentleman) reading after so much time has passed! I just want to let you know that I AM BACK!!! Even if I never technically left…
So first up for today… I took some snapshots of my makeup on my lunch break…. what better thing to do than have a mini photo shoot with yourself when you have an extra 15 minutes?
Me looking away from the sun… more true representation of my skintone and YAY look at my good hair day!! I HAD to document that… Good hair days are few and far between in the Florida spring/summer season.
Me looking towards the sun. The sun washed my face out a little bit, but I feel like my eyeshadow is true to color hear so I felt it was necessary to include it.

What is new with me? Well… my husband talked me into getting a pool weeks back. We designed the shape of our pool and deck, as well as picked out all of the tile color etc. about a month ago and we have been waiting forEVER for our HOA to decide that it was within standards for the neighborhood. :/ Once we knew it was good to go the pool company had their guys in our backyard immediately. There was an excavator in our back yard for a little over a week (and thankfully they took the keys with them because my husband had his eye on it last weekend) and here is the result…
A giant hole in the backyard…

Can you see me? haha I love little oopies you find after taking a picture. |
This will be the shallow end…
This will be the deep end…
Another shot of the deep end from the other side of the pool… Isn’t it neat how they sculpted the step/bench out of the dirt? It all amazes me.
Those pictures were taken yesterday… So when I got home from work today it looks like this…
They created the structure for the pool out of iron rods and put the skimmer and other odds and ends in place. Hell…. I may come home tomorrow to find they have concreted it. This seems to be moving along way faster than I imagined. And thank the lord too! Summer is UPON US!!!
Wanna know what I didn’t think about when I signed the contract for the pool………………….
The hours of the men creating the pool, that is what. They are some dedicated little worker bees. They get into my yard every morning as the sun is peeking over the tops of the trees making it impossible to sleep in. My poor husband is working nights (3pm-random times of night/morning) and he has usually only been asleep for a couple hours before he is woken up from all the noise. Luckily I am usually on my way out the door as the sun comes up so I don’t get the majority of the noise…
Anyway, that is my ramble for the day… I hope I can post another ramble very soon! Thank you guys again for being faithful readers! *SQUISHES* It means a lot.
xoxo,
Laura
