This post may be a little late in the game but it took me some convincing to finally purchase. I am still not convinced I need both. So maybe writing this post out and weighing the pros and cons will help me decide…
I took the outside pictures late in the afternoon (as soon as I got home from work). The sun was in the sky, but it was hiding behind some trees. I would have preferred better natural light but I was SO excited to get this post up.

Naked vs Naked 2
Here are the 2 palettes side by side. I am not quite sure which I prefer more. I saw nothing wrong with the original design of the palette but I am kinda digging the new style as well. Go figure? Me, a pisces, unable to decide…
I wanted to show the inside of the palette side by side. At first glance they look very similar. When you look just a bit deeper you will notice that the left half of Naked 2 is warm and the right is cool. The original Naked palette is made up of mostly warm shades.

I had to include my swatches that I did of the original palette. These were done a few months back.
My favorite two colors from the original palette are Toasted and Hustle. I can’t help but notice that the Naked 2 palette has similar shades albeit with cooler undertones. I like that Toasted is less shimmery than YDK, but in the same breath I enjoy the sheeny shimmer and shade of YDK. I have to say that HANDS DOWN I prefer Busted. It seems smoother and more pigmented than Hustle.
One of the things that a LOT of people complained about with the original Naked palette was the lack of matte shades to really make it a truly standalone palette. And the only 2 matte shades in the original palette were of the same type of color. I am totally enjoying the fact that they included 3 matte shades in the Naked 2 palette. The key thing about the 3 particular shades they included is that they TRULY make the palette one that anyone can wear. There is a matte highlight, blending/crease shade, and black.
Another one of my favorite shades in the original palette was Virgin. There is a slightly more shimmery sister in the Naked 2 palette called… Bootycall…
This could be the very first time that a Virgin could be similar to a Bootycall… Your experience may vary.
There is one shade that is included in both palettes and that is Half Baked. I have purchased several palettes from Urban Decay overtime and I am honestly just tired of seeing this shade in them. It is probably my least favorite Urban Decay shade ever. Not flattering for myself.
One thing they switched up this go round is the primer potion is not included. Instead there is a mini Lip Junkie gloss in the shade Naked. I like it. It is minty but it is a bit sticky. I enjoy the shade as well.
Overall, I think I prefer Naked 2 for the versatility. Both palettes have similar shades, but at the same time Naked 2 has more options available than the predecessor.
My Newest Addiction Rating
Naked: ♥♥♥< (3.5 out of 5) I think that this palette is a good one but my rating of this is as a standalone palette. I feel like I sometimes have to add something to this palette to make it work for me.
Naked 2: ♥♥♥♥♥ (5 out of 5) This is a very special palette. I will go ahead and declare this “THE GO TO TRAVEL PALETTE”!
WOW… I made a decision. O_o I am shocked.
