I picked up a few items from MAC a few days ago. I got the quad called Shop & Drop because I am typically drawn to purples and taupe.
The packaging for the Shop, Cook collection is so cute with its bright colors and “retro” prints.
The fun print is only a sleeve that goes over the regular packaging.
The colors pair well together, and in concept would make a gorgeous eye!
There is a pale pink, a taupe, a purple with a magenta/pink tint, and a blackened blue with blue sparkle.
My fault with this palette is that the pigment is lacking. The swatches below had been layered several times to build up to what you see in this picture. The pale pink color is basically non-existent. The taupe in the palette has great pigmentation and is the only color that I actually really enjoy from this palette. The pinky-purple color is nice but the shade itself isn’t one that catches my eye. The blackened blue shade is chalky and also not one that attracts me.
I wore this palette once and I was sooo let down. After doing these swatches I was pretty sure I would be disappointed. The colors are all completely dupe-able and you have a good chance of finding something similar but better at the drugstore.
I typically do not write bad reviews on products. I would rather just not say anything than say something negative but I felt like I needed to share this information with you. I hope you understand.
My Newest Addiction Rating: ♥♥♥ (3 out of 5) I really felt like 3 was too much for this but I do honestly like the taupe color and the purple shade is also a nice texture. My deciding factor was that the colors do pair well together. I took one point away for each of the eyeshadows that were chalky and lacking in pigmentation.
