Because I have such oily skin, I spend a lot of time trying to dry it out. Unintentionally, with all of the mattifying makeup products I wear, my face becomes as dry as the Sahara desert. Dry, and still producing oil, hmphhh… I do lots of different mud masks and sheet masks and this one to me is very interesting. With my last New Beauty Test Tube (QVC Edition) I received this deluxe sample size hydrating mud mask.
(My nailpolish in this picture is Zoya Jules.)
This mask is not like the ones I normally choose. Like I said, I normally try to matte out my face so the masks that I normally choose help with oil production. The instructions say to place this in a thick layer on your face and avoid the mouth and eyes and wait for 5-10 minutes before toweling it off. It is a blue cream that turns white-ish toward the end, and to me that is like a built in timer. I did as it said and here is what I looked like…
Let me tell you ladies, and possibly gentlemen, when I toweled off my face, my skin was SO soft and SO smooth and just healthy feeling in general. It did what it said… my skin felt replenished and happy.
Another thing I would like to address is that sometimes when we strip our face of natural moisture, our skin’s natural reaction is to overproduce. In my lengthy and strenuous battle with my oily face, I have probably done more damage than good. I have always heard this, but my one-track-mind was focused on what I thought was best. This mask was done yesterday and when I woke up this morning I noticed that overnight my face produced much less oil than usual.
All that said, I give this mask 5 stars!
