Hi everyone! I went to the CCO over the weekend and I picked up the Magically Cool Liquid Powder in Truth & Light. I was surprised to see this in the CCO because I remember my MAC store being sold out when I went to take a peek at the Venomous Villains collection. This was the only product from the collection I was interested in because of the uniqueness of it and also because it is going to be coming out in the permanent line. I was so excited to see it because it is $29.50 at MAC and I was able to get it for $20.75 at the Cosmetic Company Store (CCO).
Back when it first came out I thought it was groundbreaking and cutting edge technology, but come to find out it is basically just the Prescriptives Magic powder repackaged. Prescriptives was another Estee Lauder family brand that went under and now Estee Lauder is taking some of the products and moving them to other brands. It is honestly really nice. It is a powder that is supposed to instantly cool the skin and diffuse light which actually minimizes the look of pores and wrinkles. The cooling effect comes from the water content in the powder. As you buff it into the skin the water releases and makes the powder sort of melt into the skin.
My personal thoughts on this is that it does work. I wore this for around 12 hours and never touched up my powder once. That is unusual because I am very oily and have to touch up my face at least once during the middle of the day. When I looked in the mirror at the end of the day I looked the same as I did at the beginning of the day. It truly did diffuse the look of pores and wrinkles. I give this two thumbs up!
My favorite way to use it is to apply my moisturizer and foundation like usual. I then take this powder and buff it into the skin. It swatches glittery but the glitter does not show up on my face after its been buffed in. I then take my MAC Prep & Prime powder and go over it once just to set it. It is probably unnecessary but it feels cold/wet and I am naturally oily so I always feel the need NOT to feel that way! (I know, I am crazy!)
This is the promo art for the Magically Cool Liquid Powder Summer 2011 collection that will be released on May 5th, 2011.

Off the topic of beauty and moving on to jewelry/fashion. Other purchases of the weekend. (Both at Dillard’s!)
Sterling Silver/Cubic Zirconia/Ceramic Fossil watch. It has a square mother of pearl face! Originally priced at $125 and it was marked down to $65 and was in a case marked ‘Additional 30% off’!!! GORGEOUS! I had to get it!
I bought the Lisa Taubes 42″ Sterling Silver chain necklace from thecurrentcustom.com a few months ago for $78 dollars and I love it. I have been wanting to purchase a rose gold one as well, but I was waiting til I had the extra money. While I was waiting on someone at the watch counter to help me I was looking through the other jewelry and I stumbled across a dupe! There was a silver one and a rose gold one. They are both just a smidge over 5′ long and it is easily tripled around the neck for a layered look. The Dillard’s necklaces are only $28. I got the last rose gold one and am contemplating going back for the silver one. I encourage you to go to your Dillard’s now and see if your store has them! They are gorgeous! The links are slightly more oval the the Lisa Taubes one but they both catch the light just as well. If anything the Dillard’s one feels a bit more sturdy!
DON’T FORGET TO ENTER MY GIVEAWAY! IT ENDS MAY 27, 2011 AT 11:59 PM EST!
Hope you have a fabulous day!
