Nope! Not Bobbi Brown! The BB stands for blemish balm/beblesh balm! It isn’t a name brand, but more of a description of a product, such as a tinted moisturizer or a foundation. In my opinion it is mixture of both with added benefits. It is your skincare, primer and foundation all in one! Each one has different properties but they are all about the same thing: healthy skin.
Originally formulated in Germany, it was initially used by dermatologists to help laser surgery patients protect, soothe and refine highly sensitive skin while providing light coverage for post-laser scars, acne and other blemishes. In recent years BB cream has gained a huge following for its skin-regenerating properties and from what I gather a popular Korean actress with beautiful skin was found out to be using the creams. That seemed to jump-start the BB cream craze!
BB creams come in a variety of different formulations. Some are said to have skin whitening or brightening properties, others are anti-acne, some are anti-wrinkle, some are intended to even out skin tone, and yet others to lighten blemish scars. BB creams are sometimes used like a primer under foundation, and if tinted may even replace foundation. Popular brands on the market today include: Lioele, Missha, and SKIN79, Etude House, BTRC, etc. The ones I purchased are Lioele Beyond the Solution, Lioele Triple the Solution, and Skin 79 Hot Pink Super Plus.
The packaging on these products are so cute and girly. I am a sucker for cute packaging and these products deliver! Pink + Shiny = SOLD! haha
These are thick swatches so you can get an idea on the color they come out.
L to R: Skin 79 Hot Pink, Lioele Triple the Solution, Lioele Beyond the Solution.
These are the same swatches rubbed in. They are all good matches for me. After rubbing them in a bit more and waiting for about 10 minutes they honestly were undetectable. They blended into my skin and each other almost completely. It is unreal how they are such different shades but they all work. I am a neutral skin tone and can wear both pink and yellow tones. Maybe that is why they all work. I am unsure. One of them is really grey and it worked as well! LOL Can’t explain that one. It is magic! ;o)
Skin79 Hot Pink:
By far the greyest of the three. It claims to help with whitening (diminishing hyper pigmentation), improves wrinkles, SPF25 PA ++, and it received KFDA certification for all three. Reading the back of the box it also says that it corrects irregular skintones naturally. It has lots of natural ingredients for those of you that are looking for that sort of thing.
Lioele Triple the Solution:
This one claims to whiten, help with wrinkle care and has an SPF 30 PA++. This one goes on to read: This product makes your skin moist as yogurt and hyaluronic acid supply moisture and nutrition. It is a low-stimulating product since it doesn’t contain the ingredient of organic ultraviolet screen. The index of SPF 30 and PA++ not only controls the generation of skin blemish but makes your skin bright.
Lioele Beyond the Solution:
This box has mostly Korean writing on it so I can’t tell you their claims. There is one part that is in English and here goes: Smooth application allows clear absorption for expressing a natural skin tone. Speedy application of makeup is possible since there is no need to apply makeup base of foundation.
They all recommend you to blend it into the skin with your fingers because the warmth of your hand will help with a natural blended effect. This is just an initial reaction blog. I can not recommend one over the other. I only posted this because of those of you who knew I was receiving these in the mail and wanted swatches!
