e.l.f. Studio Lotion Wipes: Vanilla & Coconut

Lotion is coming in so many different forms nowadays and nothing seems to surprise me.  We used to only have to choose from a pour out lid, squeeze bottle, or a pump.  I have seen several different lotion wipes and sprays lately.  Who knows what they will come up with next.  When I saw the e.l.f. Lotion Wipes ($3) I couldn’t resist picking them up.

My arms and legs can never get enough moisture.  I honestly could really use a moment in time where my appendages weren’t dehydrated.  I have been tossing these wipes into my purse or diaper bag, whatever I am carrying around, and when I have a free moment I am wiping these on.  They smell like a sunshiny, summer day and they feel amazing.  The lotion doesnt apply on thick, rather it feels like you are just wiping on pure moisture–so no rubbing in is necessary.

These wipes are not only easy-to-use and mess-free, they are also infused with aloe, cocoa butter, vitamin e, soy, ginkgo biloba, coconut milk and sweet almond oil to revitalize and nourish the skin.

The packaging is thick, sturdy plastic and the flip top lid is also quite thick and closes air-tight.

The e.l.f. Studio Lotion Wipes in the scent Vanilla & Coconut are simply amazing.  15 sheets are included in each container and they are super affordable.  The scent is amazingly delicious.

Remington T-Studio Pearl Ceramic Curling Wand

When I wear my hair curly I get a lot of compliments and always the question, “How did you do that to your hair?” And I always tell them about the affordable Remington T-Studio Pearl Ceramic Curling Wand

About a year or two ago I was walking around one of my favorite shopping destinations (Target) and, as always, ended up drifting into the makeup and hair care section.  I saw this curling wand.  At the time it was brand new; the only other ones I had ever seen or heard of were the uber expensive ones.  I purchased it and quickly got it home and started playing with my hair.

It has a nice long power cord that swivels at the base.  There are three buttons on it: power, + to add head, and – to lessen the heat.  It goes up to 410 degrees F.  It claims to have an automatic shut off, but I have never experienced that because I honestly don’t leave it plugged in after I am done.  The barrel size at it’s base is 1”.  They do make a larger sized one now, which I am very tempted to go and purchase just to see the difference in effect.

On the picture on the left half of my hair is done and the other half isn’t.  On the right side my hair is completely finished.  You can see that the wand gives super defined girls as well as loose ones.  You can control that by changing the heat settings and the amount of time you hold your hair onto the ceramic wand.

The rest of the pictures sport styles that were also created with this awesome styler.

All in all I love the Remington T-Studio Pearl Ceramic Curling Wand.  I give it 5 out of 5 stars and two big thumbs up.  I would say be careful though and use the glove that is included if you are new with these wands because they can leave nasty burns.  I lost the glove a while back but I have managed to get much better at curling my hair without burning my hand.   It retails for $24.99 and can be found anywhere that sells Remington styling tools.
If you would like to see me do a tutorial on how to use the wand, let me know in the comments below.

Japonesque HD Dual Sided Brushes 120 and 130

I was walking around in Ulta the other day and noticed these awesome brushes from Japonesque.  They are the HD Dual Sided brushes in 120 and 130.  I am sort of a brush freak if you didn’t know so that whole brush area realllly appeals to me.  I didn’t pick anything up that day but I kept lusting after these.

I ended up buying them from BeautyBar.com after I got my most recent Sample Society box (the one with the Deborah Lippmann polish in Private Dancer).  I purchased a couple other Deborah Lippman polishes but was looking for something to add to my order for free shipping.  I told you that these brushes were stuck on my mind so I just searched for the brand on the site (without knowing for sure if they were even sold there) and I was in luck!

You can see from the pictures that one side is like a flat foundation brush type bristle and then the other side is more of a blending/powder brush type of bristle.  This line is completely reminiscent, aka DUPES, of the MAC Semi Precious brushes.  The Japonesque 130 brush looks exactly like the MAC 234 and the Japonesque 120 looks just like the MAC 235.

I cannot vouch for the performance being the same because I didn’t purchase any of the limited edition MAC brushes, and to be completely honest I didn’t even see them in person at a counter or free-standing store.  I missed them all together.  Either way, the Japonesque brushes are so much more affordable than the
The Japonesque 120 brush is used for foundation, but you could easily use this to apply cream blush and then blend it out.  The 130 brush is marketed as a concealer brush but I used it the other day to apply an eyeshadow all over the lid.  Such versatile brushes.  I would say run out ASAP and snatch these up!  The picture below shows you the packaging, I wanted to include that so you knew what to look for.
The 120 brush retails for $17 and the 130 retails for $14, you can get them anywhere Japonesque is sold.  Do you have any brushes from Japonesque?  If so, which ones do you own?  This was my first experience with Japonesque and I am very impressed and looking to possibly expand my collection.  ;)

Ramble: My Weekend in Photos

Hello everyone!  I took a lot of photos this weekend.  It rained a lot so I didn’t go outside much and when I did I documented that too!  haha  My family and I were really low key this weekend which was nice.  I enjoy being able to just hang out every once in a while.

Saturday we (my husband, my son and myself) went to Subway for lunch and while we were there my son announced that his top front tooth had come loose.  :)  It was funny when he said that because I had JUST noticed that he had a small gap that wasn’t there before.  A mama always knows.  Anyway, for the next 4 hours he kept talking about his tooth like he was the first little boy to ever lose a tooth before (even though he has already lost both front bottom two).  I told him “Please… leave it alone or pull it out.”  Thinking he MIGHT just hush and move onto something else…
I went to go to the kitchen to finish up making Spinach Artichoke Dip because we were settling in to watch some movies and nom on goodies and my son comes in the kitchen holding his tooth! LMAO!!!!  He amazes me soooo much sometimes.  I know he is just a little boy but he is just so much more mature than I was at his age.  He takes everything with stride… even though what I said to him was possibly a little rude/stern he just took it like a kid 4 times his age and yanked that tooth right out.  Below is the proof!  :)

So anyway, the night goes on and we eat and the tooth fairy visited my son.  He ran into my room this morning shouting “LOOK MOMMY, I HAVE MONEY!!!”  So naturally I made him something special for breakfast.  What is special to a 6 year old?  Cinnamon rolls…

So after breakfast was done and I was lazy in a few different rooms I finally got up and cleaned the house.  I was being really productive and then I made my way to the area that houses my “extra cosmetics crap”.  My nail polish addiction has recently thrown my polish stash into overdrive… I need some sort of way to organize them and I just don’t know what to do.  I need a nice cabinet that closes… What I really want is an Alex drawer from IKEA.  Or a couple Helmers…  Anyway… So I tossed all my nail polish on the bed and was thinking of a way to sort them out but instead I finally got the ballz to try a Water Marble design.  I asked on Instagram what colors to give it a go with…

I then chose the polishes and set forth trying to get them to work…  My house was freeezing cold and the temperature of the water and the polishes seemed to be too cold so I sat them out on the back patio to “thaw” for a while.

The polishes I chose to use were Sally Hansen White On, OPI Fly, OPI Done Out In Deco, Julep Hayden, and Essie Pink Parka.
Before they were ready/thawed it was time to get ready to go to the movies.  My husband and I had both read Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter and we were both excited to see the movie.  I was getting ready thinking that I would have time to do a quick mani before leaving the house but that wasn’t the case.

So instead of leaving the nails completely Nakey I applied a couple coats of Essie True Love and was out the door.  I also took a photo of the pedi I created last night.  It is Chanel Delight and Essie A Cut Above.  I did a mani a few weeks or so back with the exact polishes and I have been wanting to use the combo again so I thought it perfect to do the pedi… here is the post for the mani. Sorry if you are one of those people that don’t like feet.  I don’t like seeing feet on the internet either but I really felt it necessary to show you my pedi. T_T  I sowwy!
Also… not the cute A$$ shoes!  I found these babies at Target and they were quite affordable.  The stones are sort of irridescent and shine all different colors, from yellow to pink to blue.  I sort of want to go back and see if there are anymore colors.

Anyway… so after we got home this evening I set forth on doing my Water Marble mani and I sort of flopped.  In my defense it was my FIRST attempt to ever try to do anything like this.  And also… I was struggling soooo hard with doing it that I decided to just do “french tips” on the rest of the nails because I was about to scream.  Also I used some little metal nail art studs on some of the areas on the mani that were particularly ugly! LOLOLOL

The picture below is me holding the Essie True Love polish that I mentioned earlier.  When I do white tips on my nails I use this as my all over color and then the Sally Hansen White on and some scotch tape to do the tips.  Anyway, I wasn’t happy with the Water Marble that I had created so I ended up taking it off and you will see what I actually did on Manic(ure) Monday!  :)

Soo…. I may as well include my FOTD.  I will walk you through it in steps.
1. Philosphy The Color of Grace Heavenly Light Pink Illuminator as applied as a base.
2. Lancome Teint Idole Fresh Wear for foundation.  It is almost gone and I am trying to get an empty.
3. Laura Geller Balance n Brighten in Fair to set foundation.
4. Tarte Park Avenue Princess as an all over sheer bronzer.
5. Tarte Exposed Amazonian Clay Blush applyed on cheeks.
6. Sephora + Pantone Universe Apricot Brandy blush applied to the apples of the cheeks.
7. Laura Mercier Eye Basics in Linen to prime the eyes.
8. Fill in brows using Revlon Brow Fantasy.
9. Chanel 37 Sable – Emouvant duo.  I applied the lighter shade from lash line to brow and smudged the darker shade into the lash line and then winged it out in the outer-v and brought it into my crease.
10. Milani Liquif-Eye in 05 Brown as liner (both in waterline and on top lash line).  I set the liner with the dark shade in the Chanel duo.
11. Giorgio Armani Eyes To Kill mascara to finish off my look.

Here is my extreme bitch-face shot.  I have no idea why I look pissed off 99% of the time but oh well… I am really not.  In the words of Juno “She just looks like that.”  For the lips (which I didn’t include above) I just added on a balm.

Here is a good shot of the eye makeup.  Even though I used the Milani liner in brown it appeared super dark and basically black.  It lasted through the entire movie and dinner afterwards.  I may or may not review this later but as first opinions go I really enjoy it.

So anyway… I was looking through my Instagram feed because I am jealous of all those lucky enough to attend IMATS in LA.  I particularly enjoyed seeing all the Sigma Beauty Instagram photos from various bloggers, fans and Sigma themselves.  All weekend I have been wondering what this palette was and just sat confused because I knew they didn’t have this on the site as of yet.  But tonight they finally said that this was a brow palette and I for one am pretty excited about that.  You all know I am a crazy Anastasia Beverly Hills fan and have done several posts on the brand before but here is my review on the Anastasia Beauty Express palette.  It looks very similar with additional items included.  I am curious of the pricing.

Anyway… before I settled in to watch True Blood I did a Queen Helene Mint Julep Masque.  This is my go-to get my face back in order mask.  I love it.  I love the way it feels on the skin, I love that I can see my oils getting sucked into it when it is drying.  Everything about it makes me comfortable.  If you haven’t tried this, what are you waiting for?

So there you have it… Another extremely long, extremely picture heavy posts.  Thank you for reading (if you made it this far through).  I hope you had a fabulosu weekend as well.  What did you do?  Anything fun, like IMATS?  Or did you just kick it around the house as well?  Tell me in the comments below.

My Week in Instagram Photos

Hello all!  I would like to start off this ramble-y post with an announcement!  New items have been added to the BLOG SALE!!!!  So go check it out! I will be adding more stuff to it as I sift through more things that I don’t use anymore.
Ok so first off…. as I was going throguh things the other night I found so many colorful makeup items that I don’t use that I still want to put to use…. So I am excited to say that I found allllllll of these items that I am about to either review of use in a FOTD!!!  Most of them are still in fact neutrals but they are neutrals that I haven’t worn in a long time!  I am in love with the MAC Teal pigment (AND I live pretty close to the Jacksonville Jaguar’s stadium) so HELLO FOOTBALL SEASON! :)  That big black blob on my wrist is a BEAUTIFULLLLLLLLLLLL sparkly Barry M Dazzle Dust.  I need to do a dramatic black smokey eye using this but *IZ SCARED*!

One of the last Instagram #PhotoADayMay challenges I did was #YourPersonality.  I feel like this little collage of pics of me sums it up.  I feel this gives off the feeling of goofy, silly, dreamy, easy-going, intense, sexy, sweet!  There are so many more layers of my personality but we will just skip those! LOL  What is your personality?

Speaking of #PhotoADayMay, there is a new one for June!  #PhotoADayJune!  I didn’t do the first day but 2 and 3 are done!  Follow me on Instagram or Followgram.  I am LauraJean396!  These challenges are fun and when I set forth doing them I wasn’t really thinking anything except, “Yeah, okay!  I will see what happens!”  So… because these photos are things that I wouldn’t normally take pictures of and post to the internet I find that I have interacted with people that I never would have before.  I always click on the hashtag and look through all the photos for the day and I have found so many people that I follow because their iPhonetography (and since Android Market phones now have Instagram I can’t leave them out) skills are pretty bad ass!

Another weird but fun picture I took a few days ago at a redlight going to work…. There is a new radio station in Jacksonville called Jack FM (107.3) and they play the MOST RANDOM line up of songs…. So at 7:50 AM I was blasting Prince Raspberry Beret!  :)  People are the redlight were looking but I was just moving my head and singing along!  (Yes… I AM THAT GIRL!)

Also Sephora is having 10% off tomorrow for their 15 Days of Beauty Thrills celebration!  CODE: 15days!
Thanks for having a look-see at my random pictures!  :)  Soo!  What words describe your personality?  Leave them in the comments below!!!

Influenster Spring Beauty VoxBox May 2012

My latest Influenster VoxBox finally made it this weekend.  Full of great stuff and I am excited to share with you the contents and review the items.
This is my 3rd VoxBox and they just keep getting better.  :)  Some of you may be unfamiliar with Influenster, so I will explain a bit.  It is a website that offers free products to people they find influential in a certain genre on different social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, blogs, etc.)  When you first sign up you take little surveys to unlock badges.  I think that this part is actually what helps the website get to know you.  The more active you are the more likely a chance you will be invited back to another Vox Box.

My Spring Beauty VoxBox included:
Bath & Body Works Fine Fragrance Mist in Sweet Pea (8 oz).  I love this scent from BBW so I am glad that this came in my box.

Aveeno Daily Moisturizing Body Wash (2 oz).  This is a deluxe size sample and I actually already own a full size one.  :)

ChapStick Lip Shield 365 (0.15 oz).  I love that they included a balm with SPF.  It is one of my necessities for summertime.

Sally Hansen Salon Effects Real Nail Polish Strips (16 strips).  I have never tried anything but the stickers for the nail so the fact that these are real nail polish strips excites me.  Something new to play with usually does.

Dr. Scholls For Her Ball of Foot Cushions (one pair).  I adore the Dr. Scholls for High Heels and I am positive that these won’t disappoint.

SheerCover Duo Concealer Medium/Tan.  I have already tried this out and I will be doing a full on review of this very soon.  So stay tuned for that.

SoyJoy Bar Strawberry (full size).  I have not yet tried this.  I decided that I am going to give it a whirl during work tomorrow to test out how long it will really hold me over.

This is the card that comes in the box and it explains all of the items and gives you an idea of the retail value of each item.

Hope that you enjoyed getting a peek into my Spring Beauty VoxBox.  I will be doing reviews on a few (if not all) of these items individually in the coming weeks.  What are you most interested in hearing about?  It could influence the order in which I review it!

Sigma Limited Edition Paris Palette

As many of you know there are two things that I absolutely adore and that is collecting Limited Edition items and Taupe eyeshadows (or anything taupe really!) and this palette is both.  Sigma invited 7 YouTube Beauty Gurus to take a trip to Paris and draw inspiration from the city to create a full face palette.  So I present to you the Paris Palette.
First of all….. I am LOVING the look of the Notre Dame and Triomphe shades.  The rest look nice too, but those two shades in specific have my knees weak!  The brush not only comes with 8 eyeshadows but also 2 blushes and a highlighter.  They included two brushes, one for the face (F40) and one for the eyes (E55).  They do happen to be brushes that I reach for everyday out of my current Sigma brush collection.

The 7 YouTube Gurus who had a hand in the development of this palette are: TiffanyDXteeenerDulceCandy87XsparkageFrmheadtotoePetrilude and MacNC40.  Every week there will be a tuturial and vlog released from one of the above listed.

The Paris Palette was released today, May 7th,  and retails for $59 and if you buy it now there is a coupon code for $10 off (TiffanyD is the current code), and I will try to keep this updated with the current code if it happens to change.  It is Limited Edition so if you want to get your hands on it DON’T WAIT!

Julep American Beauty May 2012

Hello lovelies!! I recently received my latest box from Julep. Every month that I have received this monthly subscription box I have switched to a different line. The first month was “Boho Glam”, the second month was “It Girl”, and this month I chose “American Beauty”.

“American Beauty” for May 2012 came with magnetic polish called Kylie. Julep describes Kylie as a”sultry violet magnetic polish. It’s gorgeous without the magnetic affect, or use the included magnet to create dark accent stripes in whatever direction you choose.” I will agree that the color itself is pretty without the magnetic twist but WITH the it is amazing. When I shift my nail in the light it appears that the stripes are moving. It’s really unbelievable.  Here is what it looked like on the nail in the picture below.  Please excuse the uncleanliness.  I was super excited to try this out because if it being magnetic.
The other polish in the box was called Ellie. It is described as an “opalescent seashell pink with holographic shimmer.” it really is gorgeous. It reminds me of mother of pearl. This is a look that I have always adored on my nails.
The box also came with some pedicure essentials such as a foot file and The Best Pedi Prep Ever. The instructions on the back of the pedi product say “Therapeutic AHAs + no-mess roll-on = Parlor quality results at home. Apply to callused areas and let penetrate for 2 to 4 minutes, file rough spots with the Julep foot file, rinse thoroughly. Follow with The Best Pedi Creme Ever!” I have not yet tried these items so I cannot comment on their performance.
I have thoroughly enjoyed the Julep Maven subscription service. It has been fulfilling month after month. I enjoy that I get a chance to choose which box I want and skip one month all-together if I choose. It allows the consumer to truly control the money try are spending each month. They can see what is coming before receiving it. It’s like taking 0% chance.  They have a code that you can use to get your first box for just one cent in the month of May!  That is right, the code is SHAREONMAY
Also I would like to add that I purchased their Cinco de Mayo Mystery Box yesterday. Their Mystery boxes retail for $60 but they usually give a discount code through their social media accounts to discount the box down to $19.99. This is more of a gamble but you are guaranteed to get $60-$200 worth or products. All the mystery boxes that get sent out have different products in them.  The discount code for this month’s box is CINCO.  The code expires on the 7th of May.  I can’t wait to see what will be in mine. You can bet that I’ll be showing the contents of that box as well.
Thanks for stopping by to see what I have to say. If you have tried Julep before, what is your favorite color?  If you haven’t, what are you waiting on? ;)

Kiss Nail Dress

I am so excited to talk about the Kiss Nail Dress that I received from my Influenster Love Vox Box.  As some of you may know I have been into stamping recently… if you did know this you may have realized I am not that good at it!  I enjoy playing with the stamps but I can never reach the professional finish that I am striving for.  I want nails that look well executed but I don’t have the skill it takes.  That is where these bad boys come into play.
I am AMAZED at how easy these were to apply.  It took me a few minutes and TAAA-DAAAA…. done.  I think the hardest part was matching up the stickers themselves to the right nail.  I really underestimated how wide my nail actually is from one side to the other.  The curve of the nail threw me.  Before I get into too much detail I want to include some important information from the brand itself.

Information provided by the brand:
Introducing Kiss Nail Dress, ultimate nail fashion for tips and toes! Just peel, apply, and shape for a manicure that lasts up to 10 days. On in minutes, off in seconds without remover. Nail Dress is available in 18 different styles, many of them featuring 3-dimensional jeweled designs. Check out Peplum, a deep black with multi-colored gems for a pop of color, or Babydoll, for a golden and glamorous jeweled look. Skip the topcoat, Nail Dress has it built in.
With 28 strips in each package, you can cut up your extras to create designs that can be used on top of polished or artificial nails. Nail Dress doesn’t dry out the way other polish strips can, so you can save them to use on your next DIY mani. A nail design booklet is included in each package, just in case you need a little inspiration.
And don’t forget about your feet! Nail Dress looks awesome on toes, too – just use the square side of the sticker for a perfect fit.
Where to Buy
Nail Dress’ suggested retail is $6.99 and is available in all major drug chains and mass retailers like WalMart, CVS and Walgreens.

Visit KissNailDress.com to learn more!

Ok… Back to my opinion:
I will start out by mentioning one of the negatives I experienced and then get on to what I like.  My nail beds aren’t perfect.  After removing the cuticles and everything I am left with misshapen cuticles/nail beds.  It was hard for me to find a way to have them look “centered” on the nail because of this.  Of course I really can’t blame the product for my poor genetic cuticle code but hey… It is an honest review and I am allowed my 2 cents. :)

On to all the positives…
These are easy to use–so easy that a newb to nails (like myself) should have absolutely no problem.  They give you step my step instruction and that is what I followed and had no mishaps along the way.

They don’t dry out like other brands because of the fact that they are stickers.  Mine sat in the packaging after my first inspection for a while and it affected them absolutely nada.

For stickers they last a great amount of time.  I am extremely rough on my nails and a manicure with polish typically lasts at most 2 days without wear and tear or chipping.  I am 4 days strong with these so far and I see no signs of wear.  Truly impressive if you ask me.

There is absolutely no drying time.  I needed to cook dinner and do my ordinary daily chores and I kept thinking to myself that I needed to wait to let them dry… but there was no need.  Instant gratification.

My Newest Addiction Rating: ♥ (5 out of  5)
I am really glad that I was able to receive these through Influenster because I will have to be honest… they looked gimmicky to me and I would have NEVER purchased them on my own.  I am now all the more wise and would run out and purchase these in an instant.  It is the cost of a bottle of nail polish for one manicure but it is cheaper than going to a salon and having them do a manicure.  I would rush out and spend the few dollars to give your favorite pattern a try.  I think I want to do a matching design on my fingers and toes now.  EEP!  Oh what the future holds!

*This product was sent to me for free from Influenster.

Hello beauties!!! I am interrupting your regularly scheduled beauty post to show you pictures from my family’s trip to the local Zoo’s Halloween event. It is called Spooktacular and my son had such a good time. :) (He was the ghost mask from Scream.).
I don’t know what I expected from our experience, because it was our first time attending, but I enjoyed it. I wish that the animals could have been seen or been a part of it in some way, buy I understand. They have to rest some time.
Anyway… I am going to take you on a small journey through my Instagram pictures! :D  Hope you enjoy!
Me and T at the gates!  He was so excited… he was ready to scare people and get some candy!!

I didn’t dress up as anything but because I have a flare for the dramatics I improvised with a glow stick?  I will call it a “Neon Angel”, how about that?

He does look pretty spooky, wouldn’t you say?

He was TOTALLY scaring his dad! hahahaha  I love it!

I wish I would have gotten a better angle of the pumpkins.  There were HUNDREDS of pumpkins up and down the sides of the walk ways.

Some had colored lights inside of them to give off a truly eye-pleasing effect.

There are some elephant statues that looked really cool in the dark.  I don’t know how well you can make them out here but I loved them!

Gorgeous fountain in the middle of the dining area at the zoo, which was completely transformed into a dance floor with roaming animals and other characters!

These were some of those “other characters”!

And ONLY IN FLORIDA can you find an alligator jump house…

Thanks for spending a moment to recap my evening in the Zoo!  It was honestly a lot of fun!
Thank you for reading!  If you would like, you can find me on YouTubeTwitterFacebook.  If you don’t already, follow me here.  Thank you for all of your support!  Don’t forget to enter my giveaway!
