Cut and Blow: Hair and Beauty Private Sales

There is a new flash sale site on the net that is completely geared around hair and beauty products.  CutandBlow.com is able to keep costs low because they run private sales for a short time.

I have some products from AG Hair and OPI to show you today.  The AG Hair products are currently being sold on the site.

So when the Germany OPI collection first came out I was interested in getting the shade Berlin There Done That because it completely matches my pet Weimeraner named Gus, or appropriately nicknamed “Taupe Doggy”!  I have several other taupe nail polishes but I honestly love collecting anything taupe.  Even the walls in my house are taupe.  :)  Anyway, after the long ramble…. I now own that shade thanks to Cut and Blow.

AG Hair is a brand that has been around since 1989.  They leave out ingredients that aren’t good for you, like: salt, paba, parabens and DEA, and also processes like animal testing.  I have the Volume Solution Trio.  The trio includes the Thikk Wash, Thikk Rinse, and Foam.  I am looking forward to trying this!  I also received a set of The Oil.  The Oil is rich in organic Moroccan Argan oil, AG’s The Oil adds indescribable softness, shine and slip to all hair types. Lightweight and non-oily, The Oil won’t weigh hair down or discolour blonde hair.

I encourage you to check out the CutandBlow.com website.  It has lots of brands that are on sale for short period of time.  :)

REVIEW: Josie Maran Argan Oil Hair Serum

Lately I have been obsessing over my hair.  It has gotten really long and healthy so I am more prone to play with it using heat styling and other variations of styling without the guilt.  Even though I am using heat and other styling techniques I am using all sorts of treatments and serums to help keep it long and healthy.  I have been LOVING the Josie Maran Argan Oil Hair Serum.

Josie Maran is known for her Argan Oil and a lot of people use her basic Argan Oil in their hair, which is okay for some people but I find it is too much for my thick head of fine hair.  She developed this hair serum because all of the same reasons I listed above: heat and styling, but also she had hair coloring quite a bit.  This hair serum is nice and silky (sort of like the text of CHI Silk Infusion).  It has an unprecedented amount of argan oil in the serum itself, so you are still getting all the benefits of her traditional oil but it is targeted specifically for the hair.
The Argan Oil Hair Serum provides frizz control  instant shine, and long-term rejuvenation.  It smells great, scented with geranium and bergamot fruit oils.  It is a nice light, never-greasy formula.  It sinks into the hair shaft to seal split ends and moisturize.  Not only does it do all of these great things, it is filled with an abundance of antioxidants, vitamin e, essential fatty acids, and of course argan oil.

I use this after I shower on towel dried hair.  I dispense 1-2 pumps into my hand and rub them together to warm up the product.  I bend and flip my hair over and start working the product into the hair starting at my ends and work my way up mid-way.  (My ends tend to split easily and I feel that this product has really helped with this.)  I avoid getting near my scalp because I have naturally oily hair and I don’t want to accentuate that.  I then style my hair as usual.
I will say that I love the pump on this product.  It is easy to use and has great control.  If you push the dispenser down halfway it gives you half the amount of a full pump.  I hope that makes sense.  The pumps that force you to take a whole pump of product really bother me because I hate to be wasteful so being able to get 1/4 or 1/2 of a regular pump really excites me.  The photo below displays the amount of product dispensed with a full pump.  My hair is fairly long and 2 full pumps is more than enough to get my entire head of hair.

The two pictures displayed below are ones I took after I started using this product.  I have shiny, healthy looking hair most of the time but in my opinion these photos jump out as being REALLY beautiful hair shots. I love that the shine created looks moisturized but not oily–which is exactly the effect I find the Josie Maran Argan Oil Hair Serum to provide.
The Josie Maran Argan Oil Hair Serum retails for $30 for 2 fl oz of product and can be found at josiemarancosmetics.com as well as anywhere else that Josie Maran products are sold.  It has an average price tag to other products similar on the market.  I think it is wonderful and I completely recommend this hair serum; it gets 5 out of 5 stars.  It makes me want to try more and more hair stuff from her line. like the Hot Oil Self-Heating Treatment or the Bohemian Waves Argan Hair Mist Texture Volume & Moisture.  I would love if she developed a set of shampoo and conditioner.  (hint, hint) lol
Thank you for reading this review.  I hope you found it helpful.  Let me know in the comments below about a miracle product you have found recently.  Whether it be for your hair, nails, face, skin, etc.  :)

REVIEW: Malibu C Swimmers Wellness

A few months ago I had a swimming pool built in my backyard.  I have been spending a lot of time in it over the last few months and enjoyed every minute of it.  After a few weeks I started noticing a ton of build-up on my scalp.  I was pretty grossed out when I started noticing it because I have never experienced anything like it in the past.  I recently tried the Malibu C Swimmers Wellness kit and was amazed at the quick results.

A little information on the company straight from them:
“As pioneers in the health and wellness treatments category, we are proud to feature groundbreaking, preservative-free treatments that are 100% vegan. Our products contain the most innovative, free-radical-fighting, crystalized vitamin-technologies imaginable. Malibu C formulas effectively remove damaging environmental impurities, specifically those found in the water we use; impurities that diminish the vitality of both hair and skin. Naturally, we think of our water as a cleansing life source – which it is – but it is also the source of a number of harmful residual minerals that diminish the long-term health of both hair and skin. Malibu C’s powerful vitamin complex gently removes damaging toxins and unwanted residue. As a result, hair becomes shinier and full of life while skin appears smoother, softer and more luminous.  “Our mission,” as Tom, president and founder explains, “is to educate the beauty profession and beauty consumers about what we’ve discovered, how we apply it, and how they can too.”

Basically, Malibu Wellness is a company that creates all natural 100% Vegan hair cair.  They are located in Malibu, CA.  They have patented some terrific formulas to help people get top notch hair treatments at home.
The Swimmers Wellness kit is designed to gentle restore, nourish, protect, and strengthen all while preventing damage and discoloration caused by exposure to pool, spa, or ocean water.  What is great is that this system also helps cleanse your hairs of the not so great properties of everyday water that you would use in your bath or shower.  It naturally removes mineral deposits and toxins left on the hair shafts.  Lifts out green discoloration by removing copper build-up; restores manageability, vibrancy and moisture.  It also adds shine, flow, and movement.

The Shampoo and Conditioner both deliver these benefits:
  • an exclusive sulfate-free, multifunctional surfactant technology delivers the most gentle, yet powerfully effective, shampoo formula
  • protects hair against discoloration and damage from the build-up of pool and spa chemicals (chlorine, bromine), hard water minerals (copper, calcium/lime) & ocean salts
  • natural UV-inhibitors protect and preserve shine and color
  • exclusive plant-based proteins strengthen from the inside out for superior bounce, manageability and body
  • organic aloe and pro vitamin B5 infuse moisture for radiant shine and softness
  • free of sulfates (including sodium thiosulfate), parabens, propylene glycol, DEA, gluten and added salt
  • safe for all ages, all hair types

I used the shampoo and conditioner daily and once a week I have been using a treatment pack.  The shampoo and conditioner alone have completely gotten rid of the build-up on my scalp.  I am completely in love with them for that reason alone.  They also deliver on all the promises that were made in their benefits statement.

As I mentioned above, the treatment packet is used once a week.  It is a crystallized antioxidant vitamin complex that activates on the spot for maximum potency.  It naturally draws out build-up caused by exposure to pools and spas.  Restores color, vibrancy and manageability.  100% vegan, food-grade, wellness ingredients.  Safe for all hair types and all ages.  Hermetically sealed in travel-friendly packets.  Free of sulfates, parabens, preservatives, propylene glycol and gluten.  It is also fragrance free.  This does not work for white hair (or without pigmentation).
This picture was taken directly after using the entire system.  All I did here was blow-dry my hair and snap the picture.  You can see the shine.  I will admit that my ends were in bad need of a trip in this picture but wow.  I cannot say enough good things about this product.

The Swimmers Wellness kit from Malibu C retails for $29 for everything mentioned in this post.  I give it two thumbs up.  I absolutely put my stamp of approval on this kit.  If you have a pool or a spa, or maybe you are having trouble with the water you bathe in daily, you absolutely need to try this kit out.  It has made a huge difference in my scalp.  This will definitely be a staple in my hair care arsenal.
What treatments have you recently used in your hair?  What was the reason you sought out the treatment?  Let me know in the comments below…

Innovative No Heat Curlers

I love wearing my hair curly but I am so conscious about the damage that it does to my hair.  That being said, I don’t intend to ditch my heat curling methods altogether!  I just like the idea of an alternative!  I have been on the never ending hunt for good curlers that don’t require heat and I think I have finally found it due to a lovely blogger,  Delicate Hummingbird.  I have a thick head of fine hair and it is really lifeless most of the time.  Even when I curl my hair with heat it doesn’t hold for very long.  These curlers curl with no heat and that makes sense because every hair stylist that I have ever had tells me that I need to set any curl that I have with a blast of cold air from my hair dryer.  Or if I have rollers in my hair they tell me to leave them in until the curler is completely cooled off because the cold air really sets in the curl.  Anyway…. You get my point, cold curling holds better! :)
If you are interested in these, search eBay for “leverag” and these should post up all over the place.  I paid around $3-4 for the entire set.  At such a cheap price, it is totally worth trying, right?
This is how they arrived in my mailbox, also inside of a bubble mailer.

It came with 18 curlers of varying colors and size and a wand that allows you to thread your hair into the flat mesh tube.  The wand reminds me of a crochet hook! :) (Something you may not have known before: I love to crochet!)  After you have threaded your hair into all of the mesh tubes you will look like the picture below!
And to be kind to your eyes, I went ahead and pixelated my face so you don’t have to see bare faced me! LOL

This is also not a flattering picture of my face (or double chin) but WOW!!! Look at those curls!! I am in LOVE!

These pictures you may recognize from my Henry Clive FOTD because this is in fact what I used to curl my hair that day.

Hope you find this post helpful!  Give them a shot!
