FutureDerm Time Release Retinol 0.5 Gel

I have less than 6 months until I turn 30 years old.  I am already experiencing fine lines and wrinkles all while still dealing with breakouts (usually due to a monthly visitor) and I have been looking and searching for a way to help deal with that fact.  Recently FutureDerm released their Time Release Retinol 0.5 and it sounded like the answer to my internal questions!

I had never considered a retinol treatment for my issue before but as I was hearing information on this product it set off a light bulb!  Why had I not thought of using a retinol before?  Needless to say, I was nervous.  My skincare previous to trying this consisted of cleansing, toning and moisturizing… and maybe applying a mask or acne treatment once in a while.  This is real “big-girl” skincare and I was curious as well as anxious.
Without any looking back I dove right in the first night it arrived.  I followed the VERY detailed instructions that came with the product and woke up the next morning in shock that my skin hadn’t burned or flaked or anything overnight!  And honestly… my skin was excitingly under control the entire next day (meaning no super-excess-oil production or new break out)!  SUCCESS was mine!
The instructions also mentioned that if you have sensitive skin or if you have never used a retinol before to spread out the usage at first.  A couple days after my initial trial I did it again and still no bad reaction.  I was then ready to move into using the product even other night…

Throughout the first two weeks (maybe a day or so more) I experienced one or two dry patches with a bit of peeling but nothing to write home about… I just cleansed my face and the extra skin came right off and voila! I am so excited that this product was so gentle.  I have heard people share horror stories on their first experiences with retinol and that is probably why I was afraid to use it.  Maybe the people I had heard talking about their bad experiences didn’t follow directions or maybe it was the product they were using.  Either way, with FutureDerm Time Release Retinol 0.5 Gel I experienced nothing but positive results.  Maybe it was Nicki’s personal touch in the application directions!!!

Now that my personal experience with this has been disclosed, let me get to the nitty-gritty.
The ingredients are all listed above so I am not going to repeat all of that in text, but I will mention that there are some key ingredients in this product to help it not shock your skin.  It includes witch hazel, aloe, and the retinol itself is micro-encapsulated so it slowly releases into your skin over the span of a full 8 hours.  Very gentle and mild.  You may experience some redness or irritation but I would guess that it would be minimal.  The only real side effect I had was that my face felt hot (sort of feverish) for the first couple of applications.
This product is a light-weight, opaque gel.  Even though it looks like a cream it isn’t; the gel formula actually allows the product to sink into the skin quickly–like 30 seconds quick!  That is great because as soon as you are done applying the retinol product you can move right into the moisturizer you plan on putting over top this and go right to bed! :)  The picture below actually shows the product itself and then 10 seconds after I rubbed it in.  As you can see, there is no glossy, wet look because the product is completely sunk into the skin and getting to work.

All that being said, I can see results already.  The lines around my mouth have reduced a bit and my forehead wrinkles (which is my biggest aggravation) appear less large.  Because my skin cells are turning over more quickly my breakouts have mostly been kept at bay… The only spots that have popped up at all are completely tiny and are literally gone the next day.
FutureDerm Time Release Retinol 0.5 Gel retails for $54.95 on her Shopify page, but because this just launched she is having a sale and has generously marked it down to $39.95!  If I didn’t answer some of the questions you may have had, feel free to ask me below in the comments or just check out the link I posted above.  She includes a GREAT DEAL of information on the product shop page.  Also check out her Facebook page or Twitter!  I am sure she would be able to address any concerns you might have!

My Experience with Little Black Bag

A few weeks ago I started my membership with Little Black Bag.  For those of you that don’t know what that is, it is a site where for $49.95 you pick your first item and then the site customizes the rest of your bag (2-3 additional items) based on a survey you fill out.  The value of the bag is always going to be at least $100.  If you don’t like the items they place in your bag you are able to swap with other people on the site until you are satisfied with your purchase (or a week passes–whichever comes first) and then you have your LBB shipped.  I will share with you my experience.
First off I chose the Deux Lux Felix Wristlet Pouch which I believe retailed for somewhere around $70 and they added a few things to my bag.  One of them was a bag that I wasn’t too fond of and a bangle that I didn’t like and makeup that I was sure that I wasn’t going to use.  The value totaled around $150 though so it was still a good deal.   Immediately I had offers to swap some items and passed on a few swaps until I had one that I wanted.  I then started searching out swaps myself.  I may have accepted other people’s swaps too soon and took a loss on my “value” because I was just so excited to get started.

This is the wristlet that I chose first.  I had probably 1000 offers for people wanting to swap for that but I was smitten and had to have it.  Glad I stuck to my guns and kept it.  It is by far my favorite thing that came in the package.  The picture below is the inside.  Super nice and perfect for date nights.
The next bag I am showing is what I ended up trading the bag that I wasn’t very fond of for.  It is cute but I totally didn’t realize how small it was.  It is my fault because the dimensions are posted on each item but still… I was a little surprised at how small it was…. the wristlet and the purse are almost the same length horizontally and vertically.  Of course the R&Em Mini Brooke Satchel has more room on the inside…

But just barely…  Regardless though, I am happy with it.  I am actually thinking I am going to swap out my bag tonight after I write this post.  I usually carry around a Michael Kors leather handbag and it is very rainy in Florida right now so it may be better for the days that I don’t want to carry around leather goods and possibly ruin them.

Another item I got early on are these Betsy Johnson Frog Studs.  They were just too cute for words and I own no Betsy Johnson jewelry so I had to have them.  I am so glad I got them.  I have worn them a few times since purchasing and I really like them.  Just a touch of cute! :)

See how cute they are?  *squeeeeee*
Last thing that I got in my LBB is this Ben Amun Metal Bangle.  This was the last piece that I swapped for and as soon as I got it I had the bag shipped.  I went through several trades to acquire this one.  It is nice and I am happy I swapped for it.  Definitely going to be a staple bangle in my collection.  It will mix well with so many of my other items.

So tell me, have you opened a Little Black Bag account?  If you haven’t you totally should, but I am warning you that it is addictive.  I wanted to do another one immediately after having this one shipped but held off and I am glad.  I want to take time to enjoy these goodies before moving on and getting something else.  If you would like you can check out the YouTube video I did where I unboxed in on video!!!  CLICK HERE! for that!

*I started by membership with a Perk from Klout.com,  I did pay for this but I received an extra item as a Perk.
