Music Festival Makeup Tutorial

Music Festival Makeup FOTD

Hello!!!  Music Festival season is HERE!  I am bringing you a makeup tutorial today!  I used products that I find perfect for Spring and a lot of them are NEW this Spring.  The products I am using are also PERFECT for traveling since some of you don’t live close to the festivals you are attending!

Here are the details on some of the products!

Music Festival Makeup

Music Festival Makeup

{IT Cosmetics CC Cream}  This is by far my favorite complexion perfecter right now.  It is light weight and covers all my flaws quickly.  No brainer!

{Billion Dollar Brows}  I love a brow pencil that has a spoolie on the other end.  This one goes on and stays put ad I find that it matches my hair color really well!

{Shiseido Face Color Enhancing Trio}  These trios are amazing  I have the shades RS-1 and OR-1 and I love them both equally.  I wanted to incorporate more of a pink toned look this go round which is why I chose to use the Plum trio!

{Shiseido Lacquer Gloss}  This gloss coordinated perfectly with the trio I used.  They have great color payoff and feel great on the lips!

{Real Techniques Brush}  This brush is amazing.  It is so similar to the MAC 217 and I personally like it a little more.

{MAC 168}  This is one of my go-to blush brushes.  I use it almost daily!  It is so soft and I get a diffused blush look.

{Laura Mercier High Coverage Concealer}  This is BRAND NEW for Spring.  So new that I haven’t even reviewed it yet!  Be looking out for that!

Music Festival Makeup

{Rimmel Scandaleyes Retro Glam mascara}  This mascara is amazing.  I haven’t stopped using it since the day I purchased it!  AND it is less than $5!

{Rimmel Scandaleyes Kohl Kajal}  Another winner from Rimmel.  Can they do no wrong?  This liner goes on and stays on.  I have the silver one too!

Music Festival Makeup

{Laura Mercier Metallic Creme Eye Colour in Platinum}  This is a staple eyeshadow base for me.  It can be worn on it’s own and I do tend to wear it that way for no-fuss looks but it is amazing for creating a crease-proof base.  Looks like I am about to need a new one soon!

{Physicians Formula Nude Wear Concealer}  This is a medium-coverage concealer!  I know that you didnt see me applying my concealer in the video but apparently that footage wasn’t captured :(

{Tweezerman Lash Curler}  FAVORITE lash curler EVER!  I am loving it, really!  It gets all my lashes in one curl and its pretty and rose gold! :D

{Sigma Precision Angled P84}  I love their Sigmax brushes.  They are dense and perfect for buffing in anything!

What’s In My Bag?

This shop is part of a social shopper marketing insight campaign withPollinate Media Group™ and U by Kotex but all my opinions are my own. #pmedia #UbyKotex

What’s in my bag?  Being a mom of two, I have to be ready for just about everything.  I have always been really well-prepared but nothing compares to meeting the demands of being a mom!  Just so happens I am also a beauty addict so I am going to spare you the typical wallet, checkbook, phone, snacks and 100s of toys I keep stashed away and share with you the feminine essentials that I carry around!  Everything from lipgloss to hygiene products!

First things first, no matter who you are you will always get into a situation that you are going to need to clean your hands but you may not always be near soap and water.  I LOVE Bath and Body Works’ PocketBac!  The scent I have here is Sugar Maple and it smells like everything good about breakfast−coffee and syrup!  My glittery makeup-bag is also from Bath and Body Works!

Gum is a necessity also.  Sometimes I am out and about after my morning coffee and I realize that, well… coffee-breathe has kicked in.  There is NOTHING worse… okay so maybe there is but sheesh!  It is bad.  Gum is my handbag’s BFF and sometimes there are a few packs hidden away!

Clear nail polish is a multi-tasker.  I have kept a clear nail polish in my bag for 15 years now.  It stops running in pantyhose and tights, can prevent costume jewelry from tarnishing, seals envelopes, and also stops the smearing of important information on medicine bottles or even your ID.

Perfume is very important for a girly-girl.  Say you have worked a long day or have been doing some serious shopping and then your significant other calls you up to meet him/her for lunch or dinner.  Of course you wanna smell awesome!  I always have a roller-ball stashed away!

Some of the most important beauty products I carry with me can take you from plain to pretty in seconds.  Whether I have a full face on or no makeup at all these four products can up the ante!  Concealer is a must for polishing up my complexion.  I have discoloration and dark circles so those issues have to be addressed!  Applying 1-3 coats of mascara can change your entire look, nothing is prettier than soft fluttery lashes!  A peachy-pink lip gloss will always be in my bag because that particular color looks good with everything!  The liner that I have here is a do-all beauty item.  It is a gorgeous rosy-champagne shade so it can be smeared on as liner or even used to highlight the inner corner of the eyes, cheeks, and cupids bow!

A pen and paper are serious must-haves for me.  I am severely forgetful and if I need to remember something I HAVE to write it down.  I mean everything from doctor’s appointments to grocery lists!

A refresher spray is great to keep on hand.  I reviewed this one from MIYU a few months ago and love this De-Stress Mi Essence.

Do you see the little cellophane bag that has buttons and thread in it?  It is something that is always with me.  Not only does it have the buttons and thread, there is also a needle, safety pin, earring backs, and clear hair-ties in it.  You will be surprised how often these babies come in handy!

Most importantly, cash is king.  I always have my coin purse on me.  It is so cute and I love just taking this little baby in with me to a store.  It is a serious conversation starter!

Cute sunglasses are awesome to have on hand!  Maybe not a necessity, but definitely something I can’t live without here in Florida.  I got this pair at Walmart for just $5.  I never buy expensive sunglasses because I lose them, break them, or my daughter breaks them.  These are cute and animal print that fade into a beautiful blue shade!  Love Walmart and their everyday low prices! :)

These next items are the MOST IMPORTANT.  When that time of the month arrives you are usually not at home, so having feminine hygiene products on hand is a necessity.  U by Kotex sells Cleanwear Pads and Sleek Tampons that are wrapped in fun colored packaging so it isn’t obvious.  But hey!  We all need them, right?

If there is one thing I lose left and right it is hair ties.  These Goody hair ties are my favorite because they don’t damage my hair or create breakage.  They also don’t crease my hair when I use them so it is possible to let my hair out without needing to restyle.  Right now when you are purchasing the U by Kotex products at Walmart you will find  3 Goody hair ties attached to the packaging, while supply lasts obviously!!  LOVE a good freebie, especially when they are so useful!  I Instagram’d a pic yesterday if you want to see the packaging for reference!

So now that you know I am not only a crazy-makeup-hoarder but also a bag-lady, I want to know…  What’s in your bag?

Yoplait vs Chobani Taste-Off

This #TasteOff was sponsored by Yoplait.  All results are the honest opinion of myself and my family.

Yoplait vs Chobani

I am a yogurt fan from way back but had some bad experiences with greek yogurt when the trend was exploding at the grocery stores a couple years ago.  Before I was pregnant with my daughter I went to a nutritionist, she told me I should be incorporating greek yogurts into my diet and I tried and tried but never found one I liked.  When I got the opportunity to do this taste-off between two of the more well-known yogurt brands in the business I gladly accepted.  In a national taste test, Yoplait Greek 100 Strawberry yogurt beat Chobani Simply 100 Strawberry.  I drug my entire family into this taste test and they ended up having fun, it is always good to create a good family-time excitement!  Are you ready for the results?

yoplait chobani tasteoff

For the record, each of these yogurts ran me $1 a cup at my local Walmart so they are the same in price.  They both contain 100 calories and are both gluten free.  The differences are all in the appearance, taste, and consistency.  Consistency is a BIG FACTOR for both myself and my husband, if something is wrong with the consistency then there is no way we can eat it REGARDLESS of appearance and flavor.

yoplait chobani

Appearance is quite different.  Yoplait is pretty and pink and you can see more of the strawberry pieces.  The consistency is thinner and smoother.  Chobani really white in color and appears very thick and creamy; there are strawberry pieces visible but nowhere near as many as the other.

My husband was the first to try Yoplait.  After he tasted it he just nodded and said it was good and tasted like what he expected a good yogurt to taste like.  I tasted it and immediately thought it was sweet delicious; I would have never guessed it was greek yogurt.  My son tasted it and said it was good.  My daughter tasted it and of course opened her mouth open wide and wanted more… typical baby stuff!

When we moved on to Chobani we went in the same order.  My husband ate a spoonful and squinched his nose up.  I was next to taste it and I think it tasted very bitter.  It did taste like strawberry but the bitterness overpowered it as a whole; it was smooth and creamy as I thought it would be from it’s appearance.  My son tasted it and decided it was terrible.  Raegan was the last to try and she AGAIN held her mouth open wanting more… I mean come on… she eats baby food!

Bobbi Brown Skin Foundation Stick

Bobbi Brown first introduced the Skin Foundation Stick back in 1992.  It was a skin-tone correcting stick foundation that actually looked like skin.  It has been a hit on the runways ever since and until recently has gone unchanged!  Bobbi updated the formula and tweaked the packaging a bit to improve the overall performance, wear, and finish. In the 22 years since this product launched the cosmetic industry has grown and improved so much so she felt it necessary to rework this beauty gem!

“Bobbi’s iconic Foundation Stick gets an update with a transparent base plus skin tone correct pigments for an incredibly natural look.  Its creamy yet weightless texture blends seamlessly so it mimics the look of healthy skin. Apply this long-wearing foundation all over or just where you need it.”  It comes in 24 skin tone correct shades and I just had to show you them side by side!

Bobbi Brown Skin Foundation StickWho is it for:

All skin types – this stick formula is our most versatile foundation yet.

Why is it different:
An innovative blend of emollients – like olive extracts and shea butter – moisturize skin, so skin stays soft and smooth all day. Light diffusing powders and oil-controlling minerals perfect the appearance of skin while reducing shine (even in sweat, water and humidity).

How do I use it:
After moisturizing, lightly apply across forehead, cheeks, nose, and chin. Blend with fingertips, sponge or Foundation Brush.

You may remember the post I recently wrote about the Bobbi Brown event I attended at BlueMercury!  Well at that event the makeup artist Rogelio Reyna spoke about this product and shared all sorts of fabulous information on it.  It was so interesting to learn about the Skin Foundation Stick‘s history and now the exciting tweaks!  I played with the sticks for a while and I have to admit that I think they are pretty fabulous!

Tarte LipSurgence Lip Gloss Review and Swatches

Tarte LipSurgence Lip Gloss Swatches

I am a lip gloss fanatic.  I tend to wear lip gloss much more often than a do lipstick because of the ease of application.  I am loving that Tarte Cosmetics has added to the LipSurgence line with Lip Gloss.  Tarte coordinated all of the shades with their cheek stains and blushes (as well as other lip products).  They even have one that has special packaging to match their Park Avenue Princess bronzer.  The Tarte LipSurgence Lip Gloss line has all the beautiful color of a lip tint with plumping power!  It also contains some amazing ingredients like vitamin E, jojoba seed oil and flower extract to moisturize dry lips and smooth fine lines.

Frugal Fashionista: Accessories

Frugal Fashionista Accessories

Hello!  I was just looking through one of my favorite websites,, and I saw a ton of fashionable items that are extremely affordable.  I think everything I linked in this post is under $5 except the sunglasses, which are still under $6.  This is my guide for the Frugal Fashionista!  I know that I love saving pennies so I am guessing you do too!

{sensational sunnies}  Nothing is more important than adorable sunglasses in the warmer months.  I love having a tortoiseshell option as well as a wire-frame option.  These heart ones are amazing!

{bottom-price brushes}  Brushes are so important.  I have found great ones that are at every price point.  This set is under $5 and  are a fabulous starter set!

{magnificent makeup bag}  I always have a cute makeup bag in my purse and I love this pink and white striped option!

{cute coin purse}  Another thing I always have in my bag is a coin purse.  I love that this one looks designer and can be bought with the change it is created to hold!

{lovely lash-curler}  Lash curlers can really enhance the over all look of your eyes.  When your lashes look flirty your entire face comes to life!

{jaw-dropping jewels}  Rings and earrings are somewhat of a weakness of mine.  I love an awesome pair of studs and this knotted set has you covered with three different metal finishes.  Coral flowers are just too darn perfect for the girly-girls.  Who doesn’t like stackable rings?

{beautiful bun cover}  The last thing on my list is near and dear to my heart.  On a daily basis I have a bun in my hair.  I can’t help it, I love them.  They are quick and easy and I have been looking for ways to dress them up!  This floral bun cover is perfect.

Keep these fabulous finds in mind when you are updating your wardrobe this summer!

Ciate London Paint Pots Nail Polish in Antique Brooch

Ciate Antique Brooch

Ciate London is quickly becoming my favorite nail brand.  Everything I have tried has been interesting, pretty, and they make it so easy to achieve the look.  They nail polish bottles are cute too, they have a long pretty handle and a cute little bow.  The glitter polish I am showing you today is called Antique Brooch.  It is a fitting name because when you look at it in detail it really looks vintage and like it is something quite special.
