Quick and Easy Brow Tutorial

I get asked on a regular basis from people online and in person, how I do my brows.  Well, first let me tell you why I am so insanely serious about my brows.

The most important part of my makeup routine isn’t lipstick or mascara, it is actually correcting and filling in my brows.  My natural brows are thin, misshapen, missing hairs all over the place and asymmetrical.  I look like a completely different person if I skip the brows altogether.  And an even more important thing for me is that I have to do my brows before I do anything else.  The brows frame the face, they give the face structure.  If my brows aren’t done my entire routine is thrown off.  Today I am going to use the Paula Dorf 2 + 1 For Brows and the Perfect Brow Brush.  Inside the 2 + 1 For Brows you have 2 flattering brow colors and 1 light wax.Quick and Easy Brow Tutorial

Paula Dorf is famous for trademarking unique “trick” products that offer solutions to every woman’s makeup concerns, such as Transformer (from eye shadow to liquid liner), Perfect Illusion for lips (ends feathering lips), Perfect Illusion for eyes (smoothes skin), Perfect Primer (keeps foundation fresh), Enhancer baby eyes (brightens eyes) and Clean-Up Stick (erases makeup mistakes). Quick and Easy Brow Tutorial The shade that I have is Brunette.  I have darker hair and I prefer a stronger brow, so I opted for this shade but they make a few different colors so everyone should be well covered.Quick and Easy Brow Tutorial

The sun was playing tricks on me when I was taking these photos, it was popping in and out, so some of the pictures make it look warm and some make it look cool.  I think that one of them is quite cool and one is quite warm, so depending on your needs, you are covered.  And just look at those finger swatches.  Very creamy and pigmented, so start out my using a small amount.

Quick and Easy Brow Tutorial And now for the tutorial…  You are going to laugh when you see just how easy and simple this is.Quick and Easy Brow Tutorial

{one} Use the Perfect Brow Brush to apply a thin layer of the wax over the brows.  I do this step first because it sets up the hairs and makes them behave as well as gives the powder something to stick to.

{two} Wipe off the brush and then dip it into the powder that best suits you.  Start at the bottom of your brow and draw straight lines.  You may need to go outside of your natural lash line a bit to get the perfect line, but that is ok.

{three} Do the same thing to the top of the brow.  This side is where I have the most problems so I have to “fake it” the most on this part.

{four} Take the same color and lightly fill in the middle of the brow with short strokes until you get an even look.

{five} Blend with a spoolie.

{six} Done!

See, I told you that you would be SHOCKED at just how easy this is!  Right now when you buy the 2 + 1 For Brows se code BROWBRUSH for a free Brow Brush!  Tell me in the comments below: What part of your makeup routine could you ABSOLUTELY NOT skip?

Fall Hydration | Lips and Tips

Over the weekend I experienced my first feeling of dry skin for the season.  I live in Florida so the weather still hasn’t entirely cooled off yet, but we did experience a SLIGHT cold snap and my lips and cuticles suffered.  I have a few products from Burt’s Bees that really helped nourish and hydrate my skin!Burt's Bees Fall Hydration Lips and Tips

My hands are always dry, but specifically my cuticles seem to always be so dry.  I have hand creams that I slather on, but my cuticles need a little extra care and I love the Lemon Butter Cuticle Cream from Burt’s Bees.  It is in a fantastic tin that I leave on my nightstand.  I also toss this in my bag when I know I will be out and about all day.  It only takes a minute to put this on and it is SO HELPFUL in keeping your cuticles soft.  I even put this on my husbands hands at night.  He has 2-3 cuticles that are always a wreck and I am trying to help him repair them.  Poor thing.

Burt's Bees Fall Hydration Lips and Tips

And for the lips… I have 3 different choices that will have you covered no matter what sort of lip look you like.  When I am just sitting around the house I like a really moisturizing lip product and the Replenishing Lip Balm with Pomegranate Oil is amazing.  It doesn’t do much as far as color goes, but it feels fantastic.

When I want a touch of glamour on my lips I like to use the Lip Shimmers.  I have been using them for YEARRRRSSSSS.  If I am remembering correctly, I think I first bought one of these my senior year of high school.  They are nice and light on the lips while keeping them hydrated and smooth, but they have this gorgeous shimmer that isn’t over the top.  Perfect for anyone, young or old.

For my everyday makeup routine, think running errands makeup — nothing dramatic, I like to wear a nice nude.  The Tinted Lip Balm in Caramel Daisy is gorgeous.  Like the replenishing balm, it feels great on but this one has some color.  Caramel Daisy has a mauve/brown tint and is nice for adding just a little something.

My lips have a pretty strong mauve shade to them so I wanted to swatch them out on my arm so that you can see they aren’t all the same shade.  They are in the same order as they are depicted above.

And here they are on my lips.  Like I said above, my lips have a strong mauve shade to them and it always distorts the colors of whatever it is I am wearing.  All of the shades are very different but ON MY LIP they all look pretty similar.

Burt's Bees Lips and Tips

I turn to Burt’s Bees on a regular basis to moisturize my lips and tips.  Before I started seeing the line at Walmart I thought they only did lip balms and cuticle creams, but I noticed they have gone into cleansers, baby products, and other various skincare items.  I really had no idea they had such a diverse line of products.  Definitely go into your local Walmart and see all of the great items from which they have to choose.

Tell me in the comments below:  What is your favorite way to stay hydrated during the Fall?

NARS Holiday 2014

I love this time of the year.  Tons of great releases.  Holiday collections are rolling out all over the place.  Sometimes there are particular trends that you see over and over again in the different collections, but I am happy to say that I didn’t notice that this year.  Each line has a distinctive look, and my favorite of all is the NARS Holiday 2014 Collection.  I have two pieces from these new releases to share with you today and they have me written all over it.  I mean, who would I be without a smoky eye and a shimmering nude glossy lip?

NARS Holiday 2014

Am I dramatic?  Of course, what fun would I be if I wasn’t?  The two products I have to show you today are the Hardwired Eyeshadow in Gabon and the Soleil d’ Orient lip gloss.  The NARS Holiday 2014 Color Collection is comprised of neutrals with a pop of metallics.  Very festive and bold.  Mr. Francois himself even said, “The collection has this energy and mystery about it, which I love!”  I love it, too!

NARS Holiday 2014

The first product I am going to show you is the Hardwired Eyeshadow by the name of Gabon.  I googled Gabon to see if I could see where the name translates from and I was immediately immersed in a ton of pictures of a jungle.  I realized that Gabon is a country on the continent of Africa and I immediacy saw the connection.

NARS Holiday 2014

This eyeshadow is a rich, molten, blacked jungle green that has almost golden olive highlights throughout.  I am completely mesmerized by this beauty.

NARS Holiday 2014

It is soft and creamy and when it shifts under the sun you can see that beautiful olive shine through.  The opacity and pigmentation on this eyeshadow is breath-taking.

NARS Holiday 2014

The other piece from the collection that I have to show you is the Gloss in Soleil d’ Orient.  I didn’t even have to google this one to see the translation.  This smooth lip gloss shines and glistens with the beams of 100 suns.  The formula isn’t extremely sticky, just the perfect amount that it has lasting power.

NARS Holiday 2014

And for the swatches…

NARS Holiday 2014

Gabon is a shifter…  You can see a deep green, almost black background with an explosion of gorgeous reflective shimmer.  It doesn’t have any fallout, at least none that I experienced.  And when you blend it out you can also get that really diffused look.  All of those qualities make it the perfect candidate for a single-shadow-smoky-eye!

NARS Holiday 2014

And here are the two NARS Holiday 2014 products paired together.  I promise you I didn’t pick them with intentions of creating a seamless look, but they work together amazingly well.  I really shouldn’t expect any less from the mastermind behind the brand!

NARS Holiday 2014

I was playing with this makeup on a super casual day.  I was out running errands and feeling a little sassy so I added texture to my hair with a little sea salt spray and smoked out my eyes.  Love the look really.  You can probably catch me wearing the NARS Holiday 2014 products together time and time again.

Quick and Easy Ombre Lip Look

This is a sponsored conversation written by me on behalf of Burt’s Bees. The opinions and text are all mine.

Fall is here and the trends are changing. The easiest way to add a touch of glam to your makeup routine is by playing up your lips. Today I am going to show you a Quick and Easy Ombre Lip Look using two Burt’s Bees Lip Crayons. I am using a nude and a berry shade because that happens to be two of my favorites for Fall, but the shades aren’t important. As long as you use two shades that aren’t extremely similar but do compliment each other well you should wind up with a beautiful ombre.

The new Burt’s Bees Lip Crayon comes in six creamy, full-coverage shades of matte lip color in a modern crayon for truly beautiful lip color. Lightweight moisture for a comfortable, everyday wear formula infused with Shea Butter, Kendi Oil, and Jojoba Oil. It’s color that truly cares for your lips!

Now, on to the tutorial…  I am making my ombre fade out from the center of my lip, meaning darkest shade in the center, but you can absolutely do it the opposite way.  I think it is most commonly seem with the darker shades on the outer portion of the lips, but this “reverse” effect is quite popular in Korea right now and I can see it spreading.  It has a nice, fresh look to it.  Like you just bit into a berry.

{one} Outline your lips with the nude shade. I am using Burt’s Bees Lip Crayon in Sedona Sands. Fill in the majority of the lips while leaving the center untouched.

{two} Dab the deeper shade into the inner most center of the top and bottom lip. The shade I used is Burt’s Bees Lip Crayon in Napa Vineyard.

{three} Blend the deeper shade into the nude shade. Don’t try and blend too much or you will ruin the effect.

I love Burt’s Bees and I have been using the brand ever since I can remember finding them in stores. I was perusing the Burt’s Bees site a couple days ago and I learned hey have a lip shade finder, incase you needed help figuring out which shades suit you best. They also have a ton of lip tips as well!

So tell me in the comments below: What do you do to step up your lip game? Bright, bold, shimmer? Anything goes!
