MAC Wash and Dry

Okay you guys.  I am a sucker for limited edition packaging with any brand, but MAC always seems to do LE packaging better than anyone else.  The MAC Wash and Dry collection is so gorgeous with the beautiful green orange and yellow gradient.  The metallic finish is even that much more beautiful.  I have a few things from the collection and I really quite like it all.MAC Wash and Dry

The MAC Wash and Dry Permanent Press eyeshadow trio is so pretty and pefectly neutral.  All three of the shades are shimmery, but they are also all gorgeously pigmented.  My favorite shade is the middle one of course.  The way I have been enjoying wearing this is having the middle shade on the lid, accenting the outer v with the darker shade and highlighting the inner corner with the light shade.  Perfect smokey eye material, too!MAC Wash and Dry Permanent Press

MAC Wash and Dry Freshen Up is gorgeous.  It had a really pretty gold overspray in it but I accidentally wiped it all away in a video that will be going up shortly, so once that is up I will link it here so you can see it in all of it’s glory.  I do quite like the shades underneath though.  That coral is something fierce.

MAC Wash and Dry Freshen Up

MAC Wash and Dry Delicates bronzer is such a beautiful, light bronzer that has a touch of sheen.  This is one that I can see using all summer long to add a touch of something magical to my makeup looks.  The finish it leaves isn’t one that is super obvious, but it is super perfect.

MAC Wash and Dry Hipness blush is actually a re-promote and I am obsessed with it.  It is the perfect peachy/pink/coral shade that is great on any skintone.  I hyst want to hug it.  AND the LE packaging?  Yes please.  OBSESSED!

MAC Wash and Dry Hipness

MAC Wash and Dry Coin Operated Technakohl Liner is a gorgeous silver shade, hence the name.  It is actually a lot darker than you probably would think considering the color on the end of the packaging looks a bit lighter, but it is so pretty.  I am actually wearing it in the photo below in my waterline.  Charcoal shades like this are perfect for those of us that light a defined liner, but not one that is super strong.

Here are the swatches.  L to R: Permanent Press, Delicates, Hipness, Freshen Up and the line at the top is, of course, Coin Operated.

MAC Wash and Dry Swatches

This makeup look is really one that I go to quite often.  A nice neutral eye while having a touch of something brighter on the cheek!

MAC Wash and Dry Makeup Look

I think that the look you can create with the line can vary from quite wearable to really sexy.  It is all in how you play with the shades to fit your needs.

You can find all of these goodies at at MAC, Nordstrom or Dillard’s!  Tell me in the comments below, what kind of looks do you go to during the summer?

Battle of the Brow Pomade

As I have mentioned several times over, brows are so important.  If I apply makeup at all, brows will always be in that mix.  I have raved about so many products, textures and techniques over time and the one medium that is popular right now is brow pomade.  I did a whole post on the Anastasia Dipbrow so if you haven’t read that you totally should.  Today I am doing a battle between high end and drugstore and the stars of the show are Anastasia Beverly Hills Dipbrow Pomade vs Salon Perfect Brow Pomade.

Battle of the Brow Pomade: Anastasia Beverly Hills Dipbrow Pomade vs Salon Perfect Brow Pomade

Anastasia Dipbrow and Salon Perfect Brow Pomade are so similar in many ways.  For starters the shades of both of these products are in Dark Brown, as I do have dark brown hair.  They both come in pots and need to be applied with a brush.  ABH Dipbrow has 4.0 g/0.14 oz of product inside while the Salon Perfect Brow Pomade has 3.2 g/0.11 oz of product, so very similar in the amount given.

Battle of the Brow Pomade: Anastasia Beverly Hills Dipbrow Pomade vs Salon Perfect Brow Pomade

There is one huge difference though, and that is the price tag.  Anastasia Dipbrow runs $18 at Sephora whereas the Salon Perfect Brow Pomade will run you less than $5!  Yep!  It is going to be exclusive to Walmart but it is not currently on the site, so run in your local Walmart to get it!

The difference in color should be noted.  Like I mentioned before, both of these are in the shade dark brown.  When swatched the ABH Dipbrow appears to have more of a lighter grey tint and the Salon Perfect is a darker cool-toned shade.

Battle of the Brow Pomade: Anastasia Beverly Hills Dipbrow Pomade vs Salon Perfect Brow Pomade

My before shot is super BLAH.  You can see that I have gaps and bald spots in my brows.  They don’t match exactly because of these gaps and no-grow-zones.  Also, I have Bell’s Palsy and the paralysis of one side of my face a few years back actually have altered the way my brows react to my face movement.  #FirstWorldProblems I know, but still a complete aggrivation.

You can see in the after shot that both the Anastasia Dipbrow and Salon Perfect Brow Pomade appear to look exactly the same.  They look the same color, the same texture and they both stay on all day without budging.

Battle of the Brow Pomade: Anastasia Beverly Hills Dipbrow Pomade vs Salon Perfect Brow Pomade

One thing I want to note is that it took me a LONG time to learn to use Dipbrow correctly; I used different brushes, different techniques, different everything until I got it right.  I didn’t have that problem with the Salon Perfect Brow Pomade but that could be because I already mastered the use of a pomade?  Another thing I wanted to mention is that I feel like the Salon Perfect Brow Pomade is slightly easier to use and isn’t as prone to looking “overdone”.  I could make small mistakes and still fix it quickly and overall it looks slightly more natural.  It also comes in 3 different shades: Blonde, Light Brown and Dark Brow.

The winner of this battle, in my opinion, is the Salon Perfect Brow Pomade.  It is less expensive, does the same job, and is easier to work with!  No brainer for me!

Bite Beauty Butter Cream Lipstick Review and Swatches

Bite Beauty has become a brand that is my favorite for all things lips.  I raved about the Agave Lip Butter in my 5 Product Makeup Look post and the Matte Creme Lip Crayons, so it is no surprise really that I find these equally amazing.  Here is my full review and swatches!

Bite Beauty Butter Cream Lipstick

The idea behind Bite Beauty Butter Cream Lipsticks is to have a full like of creamy universal nude and neutral shades.  To achieve the creamiest lipstick, BITE developed a technique to hand cut each bullet, removing the outer waxy layer to expose each lipstick’s impossibly creamy core. Infused with five nourishing, aromatic butters, including lavender, shea, almond, pomegranate, and chamomile, this hand-cut and flat tipped bullet delivers portable, easy application in a range of universal, wearable nudes and neutrals that leave a silky finish.   These lipsticks are so pigmented while simultaneously being extremely moisturizing. It feels GREAT on and lasts for so long.

Can we talk about the packaging for a minute?  I love the weight of the actual tube and the caps are magnetic so they stay safely in place when you have them in your handbag.  Have you ever had a lipstick cap come off in your handbag?  It isn’t pretty.

The two shades that I am deeply in love with are Caramel and Moka!

Bite Beauty Butter Cream Lipstick Swatches

Caramel is described as a fleshy nude.  To me it is a nude that doesn’t wash me out because there is a touch of pink and a little warmth.

Bite Beauty Butter Cream Lipstick in Caramel

Moka is described as as a warm dark brown, but I think it has the perfect amount of red to make it an modern take on the 90’s lip trend.

Bite Beauty Butter Cream Lipstick in Moka

Overall, I think that anyone will be able to find a shade they love the most in the Bite Beauty Butter Cream Lipstick line.  I now want to try a few more.  Look for these in my upcoming videos on my YouTube channel.  For now, check these out for yourself at your local Sephora stores!

Tarte Poppy Picnic Palette Review and Swatches

You all know that I am a HUGE fan of Tarte Cosmetics and I called the Tarte Tartelette palette the IT palette of the year.  Well…  I may have gotten that wrong because I am SERIOUSLY impressed with the Tarte Poppy Picnic Palette.  It is neutral, it includes a blush and the packaging is to die for.

The palette is broken up into two looks (sort of) but you can most definitely use whatever combination of shades you want.  The left side of the palette offers a little bit of a more classic shade range with a light, midi, and dark arrangement as to where the right side of the palette played on blush tones that are more muted, but still pack a punch.  The blush shade is a perfect shade to go with any look!

Tarte Cosmetics Poppy Picnic Palette

The left side of the Tarte Poppy Picnic palette is made up of Summer Breeze, Sweet Tea and Ice Cream Cone.  Summer Breeze is a light cream, Sweet Tea is a nice midtone brown.  Ice Cream Cone is a rich, dark chocolate shade.

Tarte Cosmetics Poppy Picnic Palette

The right side of the Tarte Poppy Picnic palette is made up of Barefoot In The Grass, Peach Poppy, and Picnic Basket.  Barefoot In The Grass is a tad bit dirty of the cream family, hence the name suggests.  Peach Poppy is just that, a perfect peach.  Picnic Basket is a deep wood shade, and really does remind me of a picnic basket.

The blush is none other than the super popular shade, Glisten.  I think I own 4 of these now! haha

Tarte Cosmetics Poppy Picnic Palette

When swatched out beside each other it just makes my heart melt.  It is a nice warm/neutral palette that has a nice range of shades that will take you all the way through the spring, summer and honestly are very suitable for fall and winter as well.  I love that there are anchor shades like the super light cream shade to the very dark brown.

Tarte Cosmetics Poppy Picnic Palette

Inside the box you get an insert that walks you through how to create two very distinct looks.  One being super light and friendly for daytime and one being a deep and sexy smoky eye.

Tarte Cosmetics Poppy Picnic Palette

If you haven’t gotten your hands on the Tarte Poppy Picnic Palette yet then you MUST try it.  I THINK the Sephora sale may still be going on, so try there first!

I am obsessed with the Tarte Poppy Picnic palette and will likely be creating a tutorial using it very soon.  Tell me in the comments below: Should I recreate one of the looks from the insert or create something completely new?
