Wild Rose Beauty Balm

Welcome back for another installment of the Summer Skincare Series.  Today I am going to tell you about Neal’s Yard Remedies Wild Rose Beauty Balm.  This is the 10th Anniversary Edition that I am showing you today.  It comes in a 1.76 fl oz pot with a muslin cloth to aide in the cleansing process.  The packing is just “ooo la la”, right?  Don’t confuse this product with a BB cream because the BB in those stand for beauty balms.  This is more of a cleansing balm that makes you beautiful! <3
wide rose beauty balm 1oth anniversary edition

This is a 3-in-1 skincare product.  This award-winning Wild Rose Beauty Balm  can be used as a rich cleanser, gentle exfoliant or deeply nourishing balm – to quench areas of dry or dehydrated skin.  This cleansing balm includes wild rose hip oil (a potent antioxidant proven to help repair, firm and smooth the skin), geranium, starflower, hemp and rosemary oil, to help decongest and enrich the skin while restoring its natural radiance.

The scent in this is beautiful.  You can definitely tell that it is 99% organic because it smells fresh and inviting.  The first note I smell is lightly floral then mixing in some of the Rosemary and Frankincense.  It is almost something I would wear in a fragrance.  There are no synthetic fragrances or colors as well as no silicones.

wild rose beauty balmI have been using the Neal’s Yard Remedies Wild Rose Beauty Balm in my beauty routine for about 3 weeks now and I can say that I absolutely love it for my evening showers.  I rub this into my face to remove all traces of makeup and then the organic muslin cloth to help remove it.  It really does a great job at exfoliating my skin and leaving it so smooth.  The natural oils in the cleanser have already sank into my skin so it stays supple and soft.  I think that this will be an all around great product for any skin type, and a fun change from your traditional foaming, soap cleansers.  It acts a lot like a cleansing oil, but it is even more replenishing.

Summer Skincare Series: L’Occitane

As the first installation of my Summer Skincare Series I am featuring L’Occitane.  L’Occitane has quickly climbed the list of my favorite brand for fragrances and I was told by several of my friends that I HAD to try their skincare so I took note and did just that.  Today I am bringing you L’Occitane Gel Radieux Hydra Vital Gel and Demaquillant Yeux Eye Makeup Remover.  And both of these products are perfect additions to your skincare routine for the Summer months.l'occitane gel radieux and demaquillant yeux

I will start with packaging.  I love that L’Occitane keeps their aesthetic very simple with modern-vintage apothecary containers.  Can be both modern AND vintage?  I don’t know but L’Occitane pulls it off quite well.  :)

l'occitane gel radieux and demaquillant yeuxDuring the Summer we tend to wear more waterproof, smudge-proof, WILL NEVER COME OFF makeup, especially on our eyes.  Soap and water just wont cut it to get the really heavy duty stuff off.  From the thin skin to our lashes, our eyes are very delicate.  If you are like me you cringe at the thought of tugging and damaging the skin around my eye area and GOD FORBID I lose any more eyelashes than necessary.  Since I had my daughter they are falling out enough all on their own.  The Demaquillant Yeux is a bi-phase formula of natural origin with emollient properties.  This make-up remover perfectly and gently removes traces of eye makeup, even waterproof.   It is enriched with floral waters of Immortelle, Rose and Cornflower, it helps to soothe and soften the delicate eye contour area to reveal a fresh and rested look.

The picture below is right after being shaken.  I love how it looks when it ix mixed together.

I am also in LOVE with moisturizers in a gel formula.  I wear them year round because it feels so much lighter and nicer on my oily skin but they are essential for my summer routine.  The Angelica Hydra Vital Gel is light and ultra-fresh, it is a true burst of hydration to help revitalize the skin. Its cooling gel texture soothes the skin for a more radiant complexion. This gel provides 24 hours of hydration, leaving the skin immediately hydra-quenched, refreshed and soothed.  The skin looks and feels recharged with energy and more resilient to fatigue.

Angelica is an astonishing plant. It can grow to a height of up to two meters in just a few days, thanks to its exceptional capacity of self-hydration. L’OCCITANE has selected organic angelica from the Drôme region of France and has patented its preservation of hydration and revitalizing efficacy for the skin.loccitane gel radieux

As you can plainly see, these L’Occitane goodies need to be added to your skincare routine.  They are moderately priced and really have the most fabulous formulas.  Tell me in the comments below:  what do you change about your beauty and skincare routine for the summer?

DIY Glamglow Inspired Mask

I am a seriously huge fan of face masks.  I am actually such a big fan that I do a few a week.  When you are using them that often, your wallet can definitely take a hit.  The best way to battle the thinning cash flow is finding a less expensive way to create the same thing at home.  I did a little research and I am bring ing you a DIY Glamglow Inspired Mask!  It targets acne, clogged pores, scarring, discoloration and the list goes on.

DIY Glamglow Inspired Mask

There are two types of Glamglow masks: Youthmud and Supermud.  This is most like the Supermud version that clears up the skin instead of delivering a gentle exfoliation.

The ingredients you will need are as follows.

{one} 1/4 cup Aztec Secret Bentonite Clay

{two} 1-2 drops of Eucalyptus Essential Oil (depending on your sensitivity)

{three} 1-2 drops of Peppermint Essential Oil  (depending on your sensitivity)

{four} 6-9 Charcoal capsules

{five} 1 tablespoon Virgin Coconut Oil

{six} 1 tablespoon Aloe Vera Gel

{seven} 1-2 fl oz Chamomile Herbal Tea

DIY Glamglow Inspired Mask Ingredients

The instructions are even easier than the list of ingredients.

First off, prep by steeping the chamomile tea and melting the coconut oil.  Then combine.

{one} Combine 6-9 capsules of charcoal and the bentonite clay and mix together.

{two}  Add in the essential oils and the aloe vera gel.  Stir to combine the best you can.  It turned into little pebble-sized balls for me.

{three}  Slowly mix in the tea and stir/whisk until well blended and has a creamy consistency.

Yep… that is it.  That is how you make this DIY Glamglow Inspired Mask.DIY Glamglow Inspired Mask Instructions

To use it, make sure your skin is freshly washed and dried.  Smear all over the face and avoid contact with your eyes.  Let it sit until the mask starts drying up and getting tight.  Wash off with a wet wash cloth or muslin cloth.  At this step, depending on what you use, you can also get some exfoliation which will add to the radiant afterglow.  The recipe listed above makes enough for 5-6 applications so store the rest in a cool, dark area like the fridge.

DIY Glamglow Inspired Mask on my face

My experiences with this mask were extremely good.  My face felt polished, clear, radiant, and supple upon removing it.  I made this on a Saturday morning and by the time Sunday evening rolled around I started seeing the yucky stuff come to the surface.  They didn’t form breakouts or hard gross pimples or anything, just easy to remove white heads.  After removing them (which took all of 3 minutes) my face was clear.  Like really clear.  A few hours after I removed the whiteheads and my skin calmed down the texture had improved a great deal.  I am so excited that I have discovered this wonderfully inexpensive DIY Glamglow Inspired Mask.

The thing that makes DIY skincare fun is that it is totally customizable.  If you experience any sensitivities to the essential oils I mentioned, do remember that I put 1-2 tiny drops into a large batch.  If you have major sensitivities just omit them.  Do you have another ingredient that you enjoy using in your DIY skincare?  Add it in… Tell me in the comments below what you like in your skincare and maybe some ingredients I could add to this mask that would give it added benefits.  Also let me know of another DIY beauty adventure you would like to see me take on!

Get Great Legs For Summer

I am a member of the Collective Bias®  Social Fabric® Community.  This shop has been compensated as part of a social shopper amplification for #CollectiveBias and its advertiser. #MySummerLook

I am extremely excited about Summer being just around the corner.  I am in Florida so it has been pretty warm lately and I have already begun taking part in summertime activities.  The scariest thing about moving from Spring to Summer is baring our legs for the first time in MONTHS.  If you are anything like me, you let your legs go a tiny bit when they are completely covered for so long.  I know that Spring has warmer months but if I am wearing anything other than pants in the Spring it is a maxi-dress and those show zero leg!  I have put together a kit that will help you achieve great legs to kick off the Summer!summer ready legs

One of my favorite beauty destinations is Target, and I frequent the store regularly.  Seriously, ask the employees.  They are so organized and everything is so easy to find!  I LOVE the end cap I found that is clearly marked Summer Play!  There are a ton of great products to choose from to prep for bare legs.

#MySummerLook Leg Kit

{one} Schick Hydro Silk Sensitive

{two} Skintimate Sensitive Shave Gel

{three} Banana Boat Sport Coolzone Spray SPF

{four} Hawaiian Tropic Silk Hydration Lotion Sunscreen SPF 30

{five} Sally Hansen Nail Polish

The first step in the process is getting your legs smooth and silky.  Using the Schick Hydro Silk Sensitive and Skintimate Sensitive Shave Gel spend extra time (5-10 minutes) to get a really close, thorough shave.  These two products are perfect for that.  The razor has 5 curve-sensing blades and the shave gel is extremely hydrating.  The lotionized formula contains vitamin e and the gel, once rubbed in, turns into a thick, creamy lather.  These two products are a perfect pairing.

skintimate

Now that your legs are nice and smooth you are going to need SPF.  When I am lounging by the pool or camped out on the beach I like to use the extra moisturizing Hawaiian Tropic Silk Hydration Lotion Sunscreen SPF 30.  I have had COUNTLESS bottles of this throughout the years and actually reviewed it previously here so no need to go into all the details.  Just know my husband and son LOVE it as much as I do.

When I am baring my legs while being active (hiking, running, playing with the kids in the backyard) I like to use the Banana Boat Sport Coolzone Spray SPF 50.  It is a continuous sunscreen spray that cools while and refreshes on contact.  It sprays on clear which is absolutely necessary to keep your legs looking flawless.  We don’t want people to SEE our sunscreen, do we?  It also has a nice scent!banana boat

After you have all of this done the next thing those gorgeous legs are leading to is your feet!  Give yourself a very long, very thorough pedicure.  You can go somewhere if you like but I find it really relaxing doing my own toes.  And I love to customize them during the summer to match whatever I am wearing or try out new trends.  Sally Hansen always has me covered with the latest trends, formulas and shades that I am lusting after.  I love that the entire brand is so affordable and is one of the best brands I have come across.  You can tell by the first picture that I have an extreme love affair with her polishes.  This isn’t even half of what I own from the brand!  I may do a fun nail post soon showing you some easy nail art.  Stay tuned for that.  For #mysummerlook I chose to use White On with the Big Matte Top Coat.  I love white nails during the warmer months because it looks so clean and crisp so I decided to try it out on my feet!  :)
