Sephora Beauty Insider Birthday Gift from Make Up For Ever

Affiliate links.

My birthday was earlier this month and I stopped into Sephora to do some shopping and picked up my Beauty Insider Birthday Gift from Make Up For Ever.  It is a mini lipstick and mascara set.

The lipstick is the Rouge Artist Natural.  It is a beautiful formula.  It is a creamy with a translucent soft, shiny finish.  This one is a MLBB (my lips but better) shade.  It doesnt specify which shade it is but from comparing the different shade options online it looks like it is N9 Copper Pink.  I think it is a huge hit, perfect for keeping in your pocket or handbag to touch up with throughout the day.

The mascara is the Smoky Extravagant version that has the teardrop shaped brush.  It is a precision mascara that claims to add curl, length, and volume.  It is said to be long-lashing and clump-free.  Using 4D technology, an exclusive microdefining wax complex envelopes the lash surface in ultrablack pigments for far-away impact and up-close precision.  I have used it a couple times and while I think it is good, I wasn’t completely blown away.

I bet you can’t wait for your birthday to get here so you can pick up your sweet gift.  If you can’t wait feel free to use my links to the full-sized product(s).

Sephora Black Friday 2012 $10 Deals

I never get out in the crowds on Black Friday but I always stalk sales online.  This year Sephora will have a lot of $10 deals.
Some are more interesting than others, but to be fair, there is something that everyone will want.  I see a few things myself.  :)  I may try and get out in the crowds for some of these…  Or shop online.  :)  Hope this helps you with some of your holiday shopping!

REVIEW: Dior 500 Point Perk at Sephora

I mentioned last week that Sephora has a 500 Point Perk available right now from Dior.  I have become a huge fan of the brand over the last year and could not pass this up.  I am excited to give you a look at the goodies.

On the back of the box there is detailed ingredient information on each individual item.

I know I take a lot of pictures that are probably unnecessary but I want you to see how I experienced the unboxing.  I enjoy seeing how things are packaged and the care that went into it.

There are two fragrances, a lipstick and a charm bracelet.  All the beauty goodies are minis.

The charm bracelet is cute, but to be completely honest–I will likely never even use it.  The colors of the ribbons are pretty I just don’t really see it fitting into my regular jewelry collection.  If the same star charm would have been on a silver chain I would totally sport it.

The lipstick is in 578 Diorkiss which is a sheer dark pink.  It looks darker in the tube than it is on the lips.  This size is perfect for slipping in a clutch on a fun night out.

The two fragrances are from the Dior Addict line and they are Eau Fraiche and Eau Sensuelle.
Eau Fraiche is described as:
“Dior Addict Eau Fraîche begins with a sparkling, alluring burst of fresh femininity. Crisp, clean notes of bergamot, grapefruit, and orange mingle with fresh, floral notes and ripe fruits, soothed with warm sandalwood and white musk.

Notes:
Bergamot, Grapefruit, Orange, Freesia, Lily of the Valley, Lotus Flower, Pineapple, Watermelon, Grenadine, Sandalwood, White Musk.
Style:
Flirty. Optimistic. Surprising.”

VERDICT:
It is definitely a more citrus-fruity floral.  I am not a fan of this scent but my husband said he really liked it.  I didn’t identify with it even though I really enjoy sandalwood and white musk which are the base notes.  The combination overall didn’t really impress me.

Eau Sensuelle is described as:
“Confident and sweet, she lives life fully and loves intensely. Addict Eau Sensuelle opens with an addictive bouquet of precious flowers. Sparkling rose, vibrant jasmine, lilac, and white musk evoke a natural, floral freshness that is both delicate and radiant.

Notes:
Jasmine, Lilac, Rose, White Musk.
Style:
Confident. Sweet. Intense.”

VERDICT:
I completely enjoy this scent.  It is a deep floral and the name is PERFECT!  It is the best description that I could give, very sensual.  My husband LOVES this one.  And actually a few different men I work with stopped me to ask me what fragrance I was wearing on Friday.  No doubt, it was this.

I hope you like my summary/review of this 500 Point Perk.  This is the first one I have actually cashed in on. Every other time I am interested they are sold out before I know about them.  I pounced on this one immediately to ensure I would get it.
What is your favorite beauty item by Dior?  Have you cashed in points for a 500 Point Perk?  Let me know in the comments below!

Sephora has a Dior 500 Point Perk

I have an enormous amount of points built up in my beauty vault with Sephora.  I never want any of the point perks and when I do finally want to cash in on one they are out of stock or something similar…
Over the weekend I got this fabulosu email and POUNCED on the opportunity.  I think I bought a $3 sale nail polish and paid small shipping charges and was able to get this as well! :) YAY!  I don’t need or want anything right now but this perk was too good to pass up.  I got a shipping confirmation on it today so I will take pictures to show you all very soon!
I am mostly positive that the beauty items are all minis but I am not concerned.  I rarely use a lipstick up before it turns anyway.  The charm bracelet looks pretty so that will be fun to sport for a while.  Do you save your Sephora points or squander them as soon as you accumulate enough?  Let me know in the comments below!

Sunday Ramble: Let’s Catch Up!

It has been a while since I did a personal-type “What’s going on with me…” post.  I figured I would catch you up on what I did this week.
I did a reviewtorial (oh yeah, just created that word) earlier in the week on the H2Pro Beauty Life Vivace 1″ Flat Iron and after I did the tutorial I snapped a quick picture.  You can really see how long my hair has gotten.  Everytime I see a picture of myself like this I am even a little astonished.  It makes me laugh because 5 years ago or so I had a Victoria Beckham inverted bob and I was so petrified about how I looked with hair that short I haven’t ever given it a real cut or style since.  I have really enjoyed my long hair, and since I have let it get long I have more options with it.  I intensify the natural wavy-ness of my hair quite often recently… Summer no-fuss, no-muss.

Another thing I realized is that my stash is in utter disarray.  I have storage/organization but it isn’t working for me.  I need something more stylish and larger than the current setup I have.  I don’t want a vanity… I wouldn’t use it so it would be a waste of space for me.  I have always stood in my bathroom in front of a sink (because I wash my hands A LOT during my application process) so I want something that is functional and looks okay in a corner of my bathroom… and I am thinking that will be the IKEA Alex drawer set…  I just don’t wanna pay the hefty shipping cost for it and I don’t live close to an IKEA.

Speaking of needing to purchase things… WOAH I went nuts on a spending spree this last week.  I have had a justfab.com membership for a long time now but NEVER purchased anything. Well… the recent candy inspired peep-toed pump that came out really caught my attention.  I logged in to take a peek at it and stumbled into THIS beautiful shoe.  It is the style called “Malaya”.  I really liked the candy shoes but I know DEEEEEP down in my heart that I would absolutely never wear them.  I am in LOVE with these peep-toed mules however and I would get so much use out of them.  And I am currently needing a pair of black shoes. Another thing that I love about these shoes is the versatility.  They would look AMAZING with shorts, maxi dresses, dress pants, jeans… You name it!  I can’t wait til these babies get to my front door!

Further haulage was done…  I have been trying to stop spending so much on beauty products these last few months and I have sort of stocked up on gift cards and I was making a return at my local Sephora the other day and look at all the things that crept into my basket…  *shifty eyes*  OKAY!  I put them there… they didn’t jump in themselves…  Sheesh!
The items I got on my first Sephora trip last week were the Dior Rosy Tan quint (EEEP!), Lancome Miel Glace blush, Too Faced Chocolate Soliel bronzer (this is the item I swapped out, I purchased Milk Chocolate and needed Chocolate), Dior Lip Glow, and Laura Mercier Lush Nectarine.  I have been wanting each and every single product in this picture for over a year I was just resisting temptation.  I am happy with this purchase because I let myself long after these products for so long.  Felt triumphant to make these purchases.

The very next day I went to Sephora again… I guess I was on a high from the first purchase so I went back for more items that I have been wanting for a while.  For starters, I repurchased my favorite deodorant from Lavanila (in a scent that I haven’t tried before).  I also purchased a few other items I have been dying to get which were the NARS Lhasa single, Lorac Exposed blush, Sephora 55 airbrush and the Too Faced Natural Face palette.  I repurchased the Philosophy Falling on Love rollerball… but then I threw in some sporadic other items like the Make Up For Ever Aqua Cream eyeshadow in #13 and the Benefit Boo Boo Zap.  I don’t regret the purchases at all but for some reason I didn’t get the same excited triumphant feeling as I did the first day.  Oh well… I love everything (that I have gotten around to trying) so far and I will definitely do reviews on some/all of the items hauled this week at some time or another.

What have you hauled lately?  Big humongous hauls or one or two items?  Let me know in the comments below… spark my interest to go buy more! LOL

My Week in Instagram Photos

Hello all!  I would like to start off this ramble-y post with an announcement!  New items have been added to the BLOG SALE!!!!  So go check it out! I will be adding more stuff to it as I sift through more things that I don’t use anymore.
Ok so first off…. as I was going throguh things the other night I found so many colorful makeup items that I don’t use that I still want to put to use…. So I am excited to say that I found allllllll of these items that I am about to either review of use in a FOTD!!!  Most of them are still in fact neutrals but they are neutrals that I haven’t worn in a long time!  I am in love with the MAC Teal pigment (AND I live pretty close to the Jacksonville Jaguar’s stadium) so HELLO FOOTBALL SEASON! :)  That big black blob on my wrist is a BEAUTIFULLLLLLLLLLLL sparkly Barry M Dazzle Dust.  I need to do a dramatic black smokey eye using this but *IZ SCARED*!

One of the last Instagram #PhotoADayMay challenges I did was #YourPersonality.  I feel like this little collage of pics of me sums it up.  I feel this gives off the feeling of goofy, silly, dreamy, easy-going, intense, sexy, sweet!  There are so many more layers of my personality but we will just skip those! LOL  What is your personality?

Speaking of #PhotoADayMay, there is a new one for June!  #PhotoADayJune!  I didn’t do the first day but 2 and 3 are done!  Follow me on Instagram or Followgram.  I am LauraJean396!  These challenges are fun and when I set forth doing them I wasn’t really thinking anything except, “Yeah, okay!  I will see what happens!”  So… because these photos are things that I wouldn’t normally take pictures of and post to the internet I find that I have interacted with people that I never would have before.  I always click on the hashtag and look through all the photos for the day and I have found so many people that I follow because their iPhonetography (and since Android Market phones now have Instagram I can’t leave them out) skills are pretty bad ass!

Another weird but fun picture I took a few days ago at a redlight going to work…. There is a new radio station in Jacksonville called Jack FM (107.3) and they play the MOST RANDOM line up of songs…. So at 7:50 AM I was blasting Prince Raspberry Beret!  :)  People are the redlight were looking but I was just moving my head and singing along!  (Yes… I AM THAT GIRL!)

Also Sephora is having 10% off tomorrow for their 15 Days of Beauty Thrills celebration!  CODE: 15days!
Thanks for having a look-see at my random pictures!  :)  Soo!  What words describe your personality?  Leave them in the comments below!!!
xoxo,
Laura

Sephora + Pantone Universe: Color of the Year 2012 Tangerine Tango

There has been a lot of buzz lately about “The Color Of the Year” and I was lucky enough to purchase this 6 piece kit with the recent Beauty Insider/VIB 15% discount sale.  I own relatively no orange shades of any form in my collection and I thought this was the best bang for my buck to try out a full face of the tropical hue.
I have seen/heard a lot of people complaining about the excessive packaging on some of the individual products but the box that this kit came in wasn’t completely oversized like some of the individual products.  I think it was quite an appropriate amount of packaging.  Also, the detail of the packaging is perfect.  Feels nice and luxe but simple.

The products themselves have a nice luxe feel to them as well.  I am sure that by now everyone knows about the magnetic closing devices of the products–the lipstick has a magnetic lid that clings to the base and the eyeshadow quad and blush duo have the magnetic closure very similar to Inglot packaging.

I am going into detail on the specific items from left to right in the kit.  First up is the ‘Color of the Year Eyeliner in Tangerine Tango Twist‘.  It is a twist up eyeliner which is perfect because you don’t have to worry about sharpening it ever.  It is a fun and unexpected item in the mix, at least for me because I rarely venture outside of black eyeliner.

Here we have the Color of the Year Eyeshadow Quad.
This quad contains:
- Scallop Shell, Pantone #12-1010 (nude)
- Carnelian, Pantone #16-1435 (orange)
- Sparrow, Pantone #18-1404 (plum)
- Pavement, Pantone #19-3900 (black glitter)

At first glance I was thinking that this quad doesn’t really harmonize with the entire tone of the kit but after I swatched them I see how well it all works together.  My favorite color in this quad is actually quite unexpected but it is the one called Scallop Shell.  I usually am not attracted to colors that are on the whiter/brighter scale but something about this color just screams out “HEAVEN” to me.  I love it.

The Color of the Year Prisma Chrome Blush in Apricot Brandy is very interesting.
The Sephora site says:
“This revolutionary blush combines all the best features of baked, powder, and cream formulas, releasing perfect color and a texture that lays on cheeks like a second skin. Easily blendable and buildable without being powdery, this unique blush leaves an unbelievably polished finish. The warm shade, Apricot Brandy (PANTONE #17-1540), was inspired by the Color of the Year, Tangerine Tango, and will light up the apples of your cheeks with a spirited glow.”

I don’t consider this as much of a blush as I do a highlighter.  I was thinking that in the pan it looks awful close to the other shimmery blush or even the shimmery orange eyeshadow but once swatched it is noticeably different.  It is a nice addition to the blush duo.

The Color of the Year Blush Duo is probably one of the items I was most excited to get my hands on.
This duo contains:
- Coral, Pantone #15-1439 (Color of the Year with gold shimmer)
- Desert Flower, Pantone #15-1435 (light orange matte)

The Sephora site says:
“This micro-fine pressed-powder duo delivers unprecedented wear in combination with extreme comfort and color purity. The spirited color combination was inspired by the Color of the Year and each shade can be worn alone or layered for a contoured look. Light, yet creamy to the touch, this translucent powder is packed with brown seaweed extract to keep your skin soft and supple. Smooth away fine lines and blemishes with a veil of natural coverage and give cheeks a warm, energized flush. “

These colors are BREATHTAKINGLY beautiful.  I can absolutely say that these will definitely become a staple this spring and summer… and who knows, maybe into the fall.  I love that there is a matte and shimmery shade.

The Color of the Year Lipstick in Tangerine Tango Cream was one of the first things that I saw a video on YouTube about from this collection.  I suppose there was a special invitation to VIBs to order this early.  What everyone says is true… it smells good and it is a nice creamy wearable version of orange.

The Color of the Year Lipgloss in Tangerine Tango Luminous is a nice shimmery version of the lipstick.  When swatched they actually look very similar in color, major difference being the sparkle.  This lipgloss is very creamy and wears like a liquid lipstick.

Here are the swatches outside in the sunlight.
L to R:
Eyeliner in Tangerine Tango Twist
Eyeshadows: Sparrow Pavement, Scallop Shell, Carnelian
Prisma Chrome Blush in Apricot Brandy
Blush Duo: Desert Flower and Coral
Lipstick
Lipgloss

Here are the exact same swatches taken indoors with a flash.

I obviously haven’t worn these items yet so my review is pending.  Let me know if you want me to update this post after I have given it a good try or do an entirely separate post on it.  Either way would be fine with me.  I had to get these swatches up for you ASAP while it is still a fresh, new kit.  :)  If you got something from the collection tell me your thoughts and also let me know if you plan on picking something up.  Do you normally wear orange or is it something new and different for you?
xoxo,
Laura

Sunday Night Ramble

The holidays are upon us!  That means sales, sales, sales.  Not only do all the toy stores and clothing stores have sales, but the cosmetics industry has major sales going on.  I am trying to be good and only spend for others but these sales are making it hard.  I have been bad and purchased myself a few things so far but I only did so because I am not celebrating Christmas with my husband this year.  He is deployed until the spring and wont be here for the holidays.  I decided to splurge a bit and buy myself some Christmas gifts I have been wanting for some time.
This is my tree, it isn’t leaning as much as it looks like it is in this photo.  It is actually fairly straight and only leaning a smidge.  My son loves colored lights!  I am imagining all the goodies that I bought myself under the tree.  They haven’t yet arrived on my doorstep so technically it is the same thing.  Some of the packages I should be receiving are from other countries so there is a good probability that they wont be here until right before Christmas.  Anyway… I am going to share with you the things I bought.
Sephora sent out their Beauty Insider and Very Important Beauty gift cards that they do every year.  Of course mine hasn’t come yet (my email is broken and not getting things in the mail seems to be my luck!) but a friend of mine gave me her gift card because she doesn’t live in the U.S. and there is no way for her to use it.  It was a $20 card so I placed an order for the following:
Hourglass Femme Rouge in Fresco.
The lovely Mira gave me my lemming for Fresco.  It is described as a rosy nude and let’s just face it.  The bullet of the lipstick is just oh so sexy with its hourglass emblem on it.  Kinda looks like a little corset!

Make Up For Ever Smoky Lash.
This is a mascara that I have been curious about for a couple of years.  I have never actually decided to pick it up before but I figured what the hell?  I had a gift card and I love mascara!  End. Of. Story.
I used the code FromSephora to pick up a bag of samples in an adorable Hello Kitty cosmetics bag.  I also got 3 of the samples you chose with every order.
I have been wanting to make my first Rouge Bunny Rouge purchase for a long time now.  I was pushed over the edge with the mascara that Kate sent and I recently received a lovely Sea of Nectar liquid highlighter (review pending) as a gift from a friend.  When I was building up my Rouge Bunny Rouge inner-hype and about to place my first order I got an email telling me that there was a 20% off sale on Zuneta.com this entire weekend!!  What perfect timing, right?  Anyway!  I bought a few things!  Let me tell you which!
I got 3 RBR eyeshadows.  Abyssinian Catbird, Angelic Cockatiels, and Delicate Hummingbird.
I also got one of the Loose Glitter Pigment Fire Drops in Caress of Mink.
I am quite pleased with myself and the taupyness that shall be mine! :)  I am chomping at the bit to have these in my possession!!!  *squeals*
Last but not least, I saw some curlers on a blog last night.  I have really been into curling my hair a lot lately.  It has gotten really long and I am also trying not to damage it too much with so many hot tools.  These heatless curlers seemed like something that is right up my alley.  In a feverish rush I paid the small amount of a little over $4 on ebay.  If these are something that you are interested, ebay search the word “leverag”!

I hope you enjoyed this post of things to come!  Sometimes I want to share things with  my readers before I ever receive them.  If you would like, you can find me on YouTubeTwitterFacebook.  If you don’t already, follow me here.  Thank you for all of your support!

Sephora VIB Weekend Haul

I haven’t gotten any emails from Sephora.com in a very long time.  I have reported it to them over and over again but for some reason I am just not getting my emails.  I never get notification of VIB events or even specials that they run.  Luckily I have many friends that are not only Beauty Insiders but also Very Important Beauties (VIB).  I heard that they were having a special weekend for those of us that are VIBs.  Sephora was giving double points for the weekend as well as a hatbox full of deluxe samples if you made a purchase of $35 or more.
I placed an order online for a Anastasia kit, Supergoop, and a Lavanila deordorant.  I suppose my package went through hell before arriving to me because the palette arrived busted and the Supergoop was spilling product out.  I returned those two items and ended up purchasing a Too Faced Matte Eye palette.
I am a little uncomfortable talking about deodorant but here goes…  In recent months the deodorant I have been using for years has stopped working for me.  I used to use the Dove Cucumber Melon deodorant but I suppose my body chemistry has changed because it isn’t holding up any longer.  I can apply it and an hour or two later it just doesn’t seem like I have applied anything.  I have been on the hunt for a deodorant that works for months without any luck.  I decided to try this Lavanila one for god knows what reason.  It retails for $18 which is completely expensive.  I probably wouldn’t have been driven to try it had the cheaper ones worked for me.
I was skeptical about it at first because it is supposedly all natural as well as strangely expensive… But alas I like it… It works. Keeps me dry and smelling fresh all day!!!

LOOOOOOK at this gorgeous palette.  For some awesome swatches check out Karla Sugar.  I attempted to swatch these but I couldn’t get the color to show up true to what they look like in real life.  I wore the palette  and LOOOOVE it too. :D
Here are the 3 samples that normally come with any online order as well as the hatbox.

Thank you so much for looking and I hope you enjoyed this post!
