October 2012 Favorites

Wow… this feels like strange territory!  It has been so long since I did a Favorites post… Like June or maybe even further back.  I have been sort of uninspired recently to do favorites because sometimes most of the time it ends up being a lot of the products that I reviewed that month and I hate to reiterate the same points.  This month’s favorites was all about rediscoveries!  I took these photos with my iPhone because my camera’s battery died RIGHT as I went to snap the first picture! Ready?

For starters I want to mention the color products.  The MAC quad was made by me.  I haven’t been using my MAC eyeshadows much in the last year but they were calling to me.  My all time favorite eyeshadow in the WORLD is Sable and it is the top left.  The other three are Naked Lunch (top right), Smut (bottom left) and Shore Leave which is limited edition from years ago (bottom right).  This combo is GORGEOUS and I accidentally put them together.  I knew I wanted to use the top two in a look together and recently Shore leave has been my GO TO inner corner highlight.  Smut is always a favorite for the outer v and there you have it… History was made!  Favorite custom MAC quad!

A MAC blush that I have always lusted after is Fleur Power.  I acquired it in a swap at the beginning of the month and fell head over heels for it.  It has been on my cheeks for the majority of the month.  I love it.  Pretty bright pink with a TOUCH of coral.  I am pregnant but every time I wear this people tell me I am radiant.  I know it is the blush!!!

I am also loving the Jurlique Citrus Purifying Mist.  I use it after cleansing to give me a nice hydrated feeling.  It smells wonderful and feels amazing on the skin.  A definite favorite from the Jurlique skincare line I am testing and will post about soon.
Billion Dollar Brows automatic pencil is amazing.  I have been using it non-stop since I purchased it.  Seriously–no other product has touched my brows since I opened it’s package.  I reviewed it previously here.
NARS Eyeshadow Base has been a favorite this month.  My hormones have my eyelids going nuts.  Bases that have never allowed creasing (on me) before aren’t working now.  I went through a few different ones and reached for this trusty base and it actually is working.  Thank the lord!  I haven’t given it a full on review yet but here is the haul post that I did when I received it a year and a half ago! WOW, right?
Collection 2000 Lasting Perfection concealer in 2-Light has been my most reached for concealer.  I always love it but recently I have been relying on it and it alone to perfect my complexion.  I have tried not to use any foundation because my face has cleared up a great deal and this has really done the trick.  I need to get a  new one pretty soon.  It is about tapped.
I just recently reviewed the Laura Mercier Deluxe Travel Brush Collection and two of my favorite brushes this month came from it.  The Blush Brush is absolute perfection.  I haven’t ever used a paddle shaped blush brush before but it is really great for precision–which I need sometimes because I have big ole cheeks!  When I smile you can see I actually have pretty nice cheek bones but the precision of blush application really helps that stand out.  The other standout brush in this set is the dual-ended Smudge/Flat Eye Liner brush.  These are both full size brushes, they are just dual ended.  The eyeliner brush comes to a perfect thin point and I like that it isn’t angled.  The Smudge side is the real standout though.  I apply inner corner highlight, eyeshadow on the lower lash line AND smudge my eyeliner with it.  It is amazing.
What are your October 2012 Favorites?  Do any of our favorites match?  Let me know in the comments below!  Also let me know if you would like me to do monthly favorites consistently like I used to!  I enjoy doing them but I sort of stopped at the risk of sounding redundant!

MAC Raven Kohl Power Eye Pencil

MAC Cosmetics has released their Holiday 2012 collections and they are repromoting some of their Kohl Power Eye Pencils.  The one I have to show you today is Raven.

Raven is a blackened burgundy with a pearl-like finish.

Because it is a Kohl Power Eye Pencil it is great for smudging but I would refrain from using it in the waterline and for tightlining purposes due to the red hue.  A lot of cosmetics that are red include carmine which is an irritant to many.  I also find that because of the specks of pearl in this liner it is slightly uncomfortable on the waterline or tightline.  This is something I would strictly use on the top lash line.
The swatch below is a pretty heavy one.  You can really see the burgundy and the pearly sparkle.  When a thin line is used on your lash line the color appears as if it were a soft black.

I really enjoy the MAC Raven Kohl Power pencil.  I have used it for a few years now and I love it for the fall months.  It retails for $16.50 and can be purchased at Nordstrom or anywhere MAC Cosmetics are sold.
What is your favorite eye liner during the fall?  Is it a simple black or do you like to throw in a twist?  Do you wear it smudgy or do you like a nice crisp wing??  Let me know in the comments below!

Cranberry Leaves FOTD

For the last two days where I live has been a fall wonderland.  I know, I am in Florida… there are no leaves changing colors or falling off the trees but the weather as been low 60s and just wonderful.  I don’t know what it is about the cooler weather, but that static in the air always gets a bug in me to go for jewel tones and anything reminiscent of fall.

Today I did a look with some of my MAC eyeshadows.  They have been sooo neglected in the last year.  I forced myself to work out of the palettes for the past couple of days and I am thrilled with the looks I have come up with.  Also, the longevity of the looks I have created is astounding.

For my face, I used:
Origins VitaZing, Collection 2000 Lasting Perfection concealer in light, and R&R pressed powder in Silk.  I also used the Pink Grapefruit blush by Laura Geller.

On the lips I used a Laura Mercier Gloss in Opal.  It is a beautiful barely there shade that adds just the right touch of sparkle.

On the eyes I used Too Faced Shadow Insurance then layed down a Paint Pot by MAC in Constructivist on the lids.  I used MAC Cranberry all over the lid on top of Constructivist.  I used Twinks to darken up the outer v and took some of Twinks into the crease.  I decided that Twinks wasn’t dark enough for the look I was going for and took Handwritten in for a deeper effect.  Also lightly dusted Handwritten over the entire crease.  On the edges of Handwritten I used Soft Brown to blend.  I then took MAC Shore Leave and highlighted the inner corners.  I blended all of the eyeshadows together using a clean fluffy blending brush.
I then used my Trusty Essence Midnight In Paris Gel Liner and did a kitten flick.  I wanted lots of lashes for this look so I used the It Cosmetics Hello Lashes!  For the Brows I used a brow pencil from Etude House.  It is amazing!

I hope you enjoyed my fall makeup look!  What have you done so far this year that was fall inspired?  Lipstick, cheek color, manicure?  Switching out your decorations in your home?  Anything at all!  Just tell me in the comments below!

Mac Love

It has been a long long time since I have given my MAC products a good play.  So many other brands have been on the forefront of my radar and MAC has totally just fallen to the wayside.  It was time to break it out so I created a typical look: taupe eyeshadow, peachy cheek, and nude lip.

As you can see from the collage I made the other day I was having entirely too much fun with finishes from Instagram.  The top left picture is the ACTUAL picture that was taken and the other 3 are just variations of finishes.  I guess I was channeling Andy Warhol with his famous variating-color-pattern-quadrant art.  Love it or hate it… I had fun! HA  Anyway!  Just thought I would share.  If you have any questions just leave them in the comments below!

MAC Hey, Sailor! Fleet Fast Blush

I was wandering around the mall the other day and TOTALLY forgot that the MAC Hey, Sailor! collection had already been released.  Me being a Navy Wife I should definitely own an item or two from the collection, right?  I don’t know what it is, but I haven’t been following MAC Limited Edition releases lately…  Fleet Fast definitely had me at Hello!
The packaging is something that I didn’t think I would like at first but it is growing on me.  I love the red, white and blue with the striping that is sort of off and whimsical.  Very summer.

The shade is a nice coral pink with golden sheen.  The sheen is subtle and the color itself is muted.  It is a very nice summer color.  I would compare it to NARS Orgasm (but definitely worlds better) or even Tarte Glisten.  There are a few shades in my collection that are similar but this one is definitely very pigmented.

You can see the golden shimmer in the swatch below, but it is ever so faint.  It shows up as a true satin finish and I think it would suit ladies of many different skintones.  It is nice and muted for ladies who are more pale but pigmented enough to show up on darker skin as well.  I wore it 2-3 times since purchasing and I had no problem with it lasting all day (10 hours of wear in all) and I don’t expect that anyone would have much of a problem.  All-in-all I think this would be a wonderful addition to anyone’s blush collection.

It is limited edition so if you are interested and you find it, definitely snag it.  This is the only thing I ended up picking up from the collection because I have so many similar colors.  I wanted to pick up the Jaunty eyeshadow but I didn’t in fear that I have too many neutrals and I probably have a dozen or so dupes for it.  Who knows… I may pick it up at a later time.  What did you pick up from Hey, Sailor!, tell me in the comments below!

Catching Up… and stuff…

Herro.
I have been so MIA lately it isn’t funny.  I was in a regular habit of writing posts that were filled with a bunch of fluff and “what I have been thinking about lately” and over the last 6-8 months I sort of stopped doing all of that…  Not because I wanted to cut that content out of my blog but because the rest of my life hit me smack in the face.
Some of you know that my husband is in the Navy, and for those that didn’t–now you do, and without any real notice he had to leave last November.  I live 1000 miles away from my family and have few friends in my local area so it is really hard to do it all by myself.  I have a 6 year old son and when my husband is gone during the holidays it is hard on him, which in turn makes it hard on me.  I am not complaining because I love my life, where I live, and I am proud that I can say my husband serves my country with honor.  What I am basically trying to say is that being a mommy (all by yourself, so technically you are mommy and daddy) as well as working a full-time job leaves little to no time to have a life…  Thankfully my husband is back (and has been back for a couple months) and life has resumed as it once was!
My blog is where I can get my creative outlet and chit-chat with “the girls”…  Yes… YOU ARE ALL MY GIRLS! LOL  I just want to take a minute to say “I MISS YOU!”  I feel like when I stopped putting up these rambles and personal touches to my blog I lost interaction from my readers.  I have noticed a decline in people commenting and I can’t help but feel responsible.  Thank you to those of you that have been reading since the start and thank you to those of you that just started following.  It is a real wonder that I still have you amazing ladies (and possibly gentleman) reading after so much time has passed!  I just want to let you know that I AM BACK!!! Even if I never technically left…
So first up for today… I took some snapshots of my makeup on my lunch break…. what better thing to do than have a mini photo shoot with yourself when you have an extra 15 minutes?
Me looking away from the sun… more true representation of my skintone and YAY look at my good hair day!! I HAD to document that… Good hair days are few and far between in the Florida spring/summer season.
Me looking towards the sun.  The sun washed my face out a little bit, but I feel like my eyeshadow is true to color hear so I felt it was necessary to include it.

What I am wearing:
Face:
Philosphy Heavenly Light Pink Illuminator
Shu Uemura Nobara foundation stick
Rock & Republic pressed powder
Josie Maran Bronzing Powder in Beach No. 1
Sephora + Pantone Apricot Brandy blush
Eyes:
NARS Smudgeproof Eyeshadow Base
Bare Minerals “The Truth” quad
Smashbox Limitless Eyeliner in Onyx
Giorgio Armani Eyes To Kill mascara
MAC Mystery to fill in brows
Lips:
Giorgio Armani Rouge d’Armani in 102 Beige
MAC TenderTone in Hush, Hush
I am boring and neutral yes but I can’t help it.  I love taupe eyeshadow, nude lips and pink cheeks… :P
What is new with me?  Well… my husband talked me into getting a pool weeks back.  We designed the shape of our pool and deck, as well as picked out all of the tile color etc. about a month ago and we have been waiting forEVER for our HOA to decide that it was within standards for the neighborhood.  :/  Once we knew it was good to go the pool company had their guys in our backyard immediately.  There was an excavator in our back yard for a little over a week (and thankfully they took the keys with them because my husband had his eye on it last weekend) and here is the result…
A giant hole in the backyard…

Can you see me?  haha  I love little oopies you find after taking a picture.
This will be the shallow end…

This will be the deep end…
Another shot of the deep end from the other side of the pool… Isn’t it neat how they sculpted the step/bench out of the dirt?  It all amazes me.

Those pictures were taken yesterday…  So when I got home from work today it looks like this…

They created the structure for the pool out of iron rods and put the skimmer and other odds and ends in place.  Hell…. I may come home tomorrow to find they have concreted it.  This seems to be moving along way faster than I imagined.  And thank the lord too!  Summer is UPON US!!!
Wanna know what I didn’t think about when I signed the contract for the pool………………….
The hours of the men creating the pool, that is what.  They are some dedicated little worker bees.  They get into my yard every morning as the sun is peeking over the tops of the trees making it impossible to sleep in.  My poor husband is working nights (3pm-random times of night/morning) and he has usually only been asleep for a couple hours before he is woken up from all the noise.  Luckily I am usually on my way out the door as the sun comes up so I don’t get the majority of the noise…
Anyway, that is my ramble for the day… I hope I can post another ramble very soon!  Thank you guys again for being faithful readers!  *SQUISHES*  It means a lot.

False Lashes

This is a topic that I have been meaning to cover for quite some time.  I feel like False Lashes are one of the most under-rated tool in a gal’s beauty arsenal.  A good set of false lashes can transform your everyday makeup to something more flirty, elegant, polished, dramatic, or even just add extra thickness to your own lashes if you choose a pair that are fairly natural.
I feel like a lot of people are intimidated by false lashes because it seems like a largely unnecessary process during your makeup routine.  I will admit–the first time or two that you apply these you will probably have some “oops” moments but with all things that are worth doing you will figure it out.
The way that I originally got into wearing false lashes is because I was sort of forced.  I was curling my eyelashes one day before applying mascara and something spooked me and while I had my lashes clamped in the curler I turned my head to see what happened and my hand stayed completely still……………..  I ripped out a little over half of my eyelashes on my right eye.  I was devastated.  I have relatively long lashes and it was completely noticeable.  I went to my friends house to show her what I had done and she could do nothing but laugh.  (It is pretty funny in retrospect.)  Anyway… I threw on a pair of sunnies (to mask my eyes) and headed to my local drug store and bought some glue and lashes and spent the rest of the weekend conquering application.  My lashes took about 6-8 months to completely grow back so in that time I became sort of a pro at applying lashes.  I wore more subtle lashes throughout that time because I was afraid of people realizing I was wearing them but since then I like to use more dramatic lashes for fun.
I recommend trying half lashes at first.  That is where you want your extra length anyway and they are MUCH easier to apply than a full strip of lashes.  The Ardell 305s are one of my favorites for half lashes.  They add a really nice oomph to the outside half of the eyes causing your eyes to look wider and bigger.

I also really enjoy Ardell Demi Wispies.  I have used this specific pair several times.  As long as you take care of your lashes they can last you a long time.  Handle them with care: When you are removing your lashes from the packaging don’t just rip them out, take your finger and in a downward motion roll them off.  Don’t bend the lashes or tug on them individually.  When adjusting them to make them apply just right, grip them by the band not the lashes themselves.  Slowly remove the lashes when you are done wearing them and always clean the glue from the band.  If you follow those simple steps then you should get a lot of use from each pair of lashes.

On the more dramatic side these Paperself eyelashes look like they would be so fun.  I am reserving their wear for something where I would be more playful with my makeup… Like for Halloween or if I just really wanted to go over the top with my makeup.  For instance–if I were to do a YouTube tutorial and I was just playing around these would be sort of perfect.

Shu Uemura makes some incredible lashes.  These are a pair called Luxe Black.  The criss cross pattern gives the affect of lots of lashes.  I love criss cross lashes.

And these are MAC #7s.  They don’t look like much in the palette but on the eye they are very dramatic.  I used these in my Holiday Dragon FOTD and my Henry Clive FOTD.  At first I was scared to wear these because of the crazy length it added but after a while I got over it.  Fun stuff.

I do notice that when I am wearing false lashes I get a few more people looking at me than usual and that can be sort of nerve-wracking at first but I also get several comments from people asking me “What mascara are you using?” and when I tell them false lashes they are blown away.  Best rule of thumb with lashes is pick something that you like.  I tend to go for a more natural/neutral look so I most often use something like Ardell 110s or a nice half lash for my day to day looks.  I know a lot of people that enjoy individual lashes but for me those are no good.  They don’t give me the thickness that I am looking for.
I use two different types of glue.  I am currently loving the DUO lash adhesive in black.  I have always used the clear one before but I had the same tube of it for a long time and it started turning into an odd consistency due to aging so I tossed it and purchased something new.  The black to me looks more natural and blends in well with the lashes.  I also use the Revlon lash adhesive that has a brush applicator.  That one is nice for precision.  I actually keep that in my travel makeup bag for touch-ups if my lashes start lifting away from my eye throughout the day.
If you don’t wear false lashes or gave up on them I am challenging you to get back on that horse and try a demure pair of half lashes.  If you have never tried them, what are you waiting for?  I hope you got something out of this post. Thank you for stopping by to see my latest ramblings.  ;)

My Favorite Highlighters

I go through phases with my makeup obsession.  Sometimes I am totally focused on mascara, eyeshadows take over for a month or two here and there… currently my focus is on highlighters.  I haven’t skipped a day of highlighting in almost a month.  I have about 15-20 different highlighters and I picked out my top 5 powder highlighters as well as my top 5 liquid highlighters.
Powder Highlighters

Guerlain Meteorites in Teint Beige
I can not say enough good things about these little balls of fabulosity.  I held off on purchasing these for so long because I was just confused as to what they were.  I believe these are technically just a face powder but they do add a good bit of luminosity (which is why I included them in with my highlighters).  For those days that I am wearing a completely matte face I do add this powder to the features I want to stand out.  Meteorites give me a radiant look and keep the look very subtle and sophisticated.

Laura Mercier Rose Rendezvous
Is it bad form to include a LE product in a favorites post? Possibly.  I am sorry but it is gorgeous.  I have heard it is similar to Estee Lauder Modern Mercury and the new MAC Superb MSF.  It is gorgeous though.  Looks almost metallic but definitely looks glorious on the cheek bones or down the nose.  I even use this as an eyeshadow.  The pigmentation is amazing and is honestly my very favorite of all my powder highlighters.  Not to mention that it is beautiful in the pan.

theBalm Mary Lou-Manizer
This is one I purchased because it was so hyped up by the online beauty community.  I got it at TJ Maxx for half retail price but I can honestly say that it is worth every penny of it’s full retail value.  Very nice, buttery, smooth and sooo beautiful on the skin.  Definitely worth a swatch if you see it in person.

MAC Blonde Mineralize Skinfinish
And yes… the MSF’s in this post are also LE but aren’t just about all MAC products?  Again sorry!  But I love this.  It is a beautiful cool toned pink highlight.  There are four different hues of a cool toned pink in this pan and I loooove it.  It is also pigmented enough to wear as blush but it is soooo shimmery that I restrict it’s usage to highlighting.

MAC Refined Mineralize Skinfinish
This is my go-to highlight for a warmer look.  It is pretty and also subtle.  Much less subtle from the fore-mentioned Blonde MSF.  It is something that I wouldn’t be able to use as a blush but it can definitely hold it’s own as a highlighter.

Liquid Highlighters

Giorgio Armani Fluid Sheer #10
This is a newer product for me.  I usually mix just a tiny little smidge in with my foundation but I have used it as a highlight and I find it gorgeous.  It is a little bit noticeable as a highlight though–and for me that is not exactly what I am going for when I highlight.  I want something that is a more natural highlight–where it looks like I am “lit from within.”

Rouge Bunny Rouge Sea of Nectar
Ahhhh…. what can I say?  I adore this highlighter.  It is probably THE highlighter that I reach for the most.  It is shimmery but subtle.  High shine but easy to wear.  Gosh… the QUINTESSENTIAL highlighter for me.  Thank you Rouge Bunny Rouge, thank you!

Clarins Instant Light Complexion Perfector in Champagne Bronze
This is my GO TO product for layering under my foundation but on the occasions that I have used it as a highlight on my cheek bones I have found it absolutely flattering as well.  Luminosity without noticeability.  A very difficult balance that this does effortlessly.

NARS Orgasm Illuminator
This is one that I don’t use all that much but it doesn’t mean that it isn’t beautiful.  I don’t really like the blush from the brand in the same name but this Illuminator is very nice.

NARS Copacabana Illuminator
This is probably my favorite from NARS’ line of Illuminators.  It has an iridescence that isn’t easily duped.  The formula also is note-worthy.  It is blendable but still doesn’t get lost.  Very gorgeous.  The smallest amount will definitely be enough.

L to R:
MAC Refined MSF, MAC Blonde MSF, theBalm Mary Lou-Manizer, Laura Mercier Rose Rendezvous, Guerlain Meteorites in Teint Beige.

L to R: Guerlain Meteorites in Teint Beige (essientially undetectable in this picture but gorgeous in real life), Laura Mercier Rose Rendezvous, theBalm Mary Lou-Manizer, MAC Blonde MSF, MAC Refined MSF

L to R:
Giorgio Armani Fluid Sheer #10, RBR SoN, NARS Orgasm Illuminator, NARS Copacabana Illuminator, Clarins Instant Light Complexion Perfector in Champagne Bronze

Hope you enjoyed my favorite highlighters.  Now, tell me!!!! What is your favorite highlighter–what do you think I should try (or even review).  I am open to suggestions.  Leave it in the comments below.  As always, thank you for stopping by!!!

March 2012 Favorites and FOTD

Hello!  It is that time of the month again… a few days late really but today was the first pretty day that I could go outside and take some decent pictures.  I have LOTS of favorites this month.  I got into a grove and never came out of it for the entire month of March.

The products range from skincare…

… to nail polish and brushes…

… to color products.  Something for everyone… and look… in the Chanel compact above you can see my reflection.  LOL
A new purchase this month was Chanel Joues Contraste Powder Blush in 70 Tumulte.  It is beautiful.  I was browsing around the Chanel counter looking for something completely different and my eyes saw this and I knew immediately that it had to be mine.  It is a beautiful cool toned, soft pink color.  It is perfect… I have read other reviews that say that this color is light but on me it really shows up on my skin.

Guerlain Meteorites in Teint Beige have been a go to for me ever since I got them to be perfectly honest.  After applying my foundation and concealer I then apply bronzer and blush.  My last step is to apply this anywhere else on my face that I did not apply one of the other powdered products.  It leaves my skin luminous but not shiny or sparkly.   It is really turning into a HG product for me.  And the smell is divine!

I have been really into my nails this last month or so and filing has become a major necessity.  I won this Mont Bleu Swarovski encrusted nail file in a giveaway from Moxie Reviews.  I honestly held off on using it too much for a while because it is gorgeous but I eventually broke it out and started using the heck of it!

Skincare has also taken center stage for me this month.  I have found some products that I cannot say enough good things about.
Dr. Denese HydroShield Eye Fix Upper Eye Lid Care has been my go to eye cream for the past few months now and I never remember to include it.  It adds moisture but is never greasy.  I can apply it and go right into doing my makeup and never have to worry.
Elemis Visible Brilliance is a serum/moisturizer I have been using right after I tone my skin (day and night).  I loooove it.  It sinks right in and just like the eye cream previously mentioned I can go right into makeup application and not have to worry that I haven’t waited long enough.  Just enough moisture without making my face look wet.

Right after I apply my skincare I have been putting on a layer of Clarins Instant Light Complexion Perfector in Champagne Shimmer.  It adds luminosity without having a sparkle factor… I apply my foundation in a thin layer right over that and it is perfection.
Another thing that really enhances my complexion is a nice tan.  I haven’t actually been laying in the sun or a tanning bed and haven’t in years but I have been LOVING the Dr. Dennis Gross Alpha Beta Glow Pads. They are like a vacation in a wipe.  When I used my first one of the season EVERYONE I work closely with asked me if I had been on vacation because I looked sunkissed.  They couldn’t believe that it was self tanning because it was not streaky and looked extremely natural.

A brush that has been my favorite all month is my MAC 134.  It is what I use to apply my bronzer.  I picked it up at a CCO a while back and I am so glad I did… It is everything I want in a bronzer brush.  It is densely packed, has a nice shape, distributes the product evenly and buffs it right into the skin for a natural finish.  And if you look closely at the end of the brush you can see that FRANCE is engraved right into the handle.

Ahhh… the polishes I have adored for the last 30 days are OPI Fly and Julep Neicy and Penelope.  I only received the two Julep shades toward the end of the month but they were instant favorites because I have been looking for colors similar to them for a while.  I wore them both immediately.  <3 YAY

Another product that I absolutely adored this month was the Kiss Nail Dress.  Each box has enough stickers to do an entire manicure and pedicure.  I did a pedicure with this set last night and it looks AMAZING!  My toes got lots of attention in some open toed heels at work today.  :)  I received this specific pack from Influenster.com.

A couple items from MAC are the TenderTone in Hush, Hush and two eyeshadows called Shore Leave and Mystery.
Hush, Hush tendertone is beautiful.  It has the most beautiful irridescent sparkles in a champagney-peach base.  It applies very sheer but it still gives a glow that is unmatched!
Shore Leave eyeshadow has long been discontinued and is extremely comparable to Phloof! (also by MAC) but I like the formula of Shore Leave more.  It is a beautiful pinky beige and I use it a lot for a inner corner highlight.
Mystery is my go-to brow powder when I am not using the Anastasia Beverly Hills Beauty Express kit.  It matches the color of my eyebrows perfectly and I never have to worry about it looking orange/too warm.

For mascara I have been trying out the Prestige My Blackest Lashes.  I have been dying to try it for a long time because of all the rave reviews it has received but it was never available in my local Ulta until recently.  I picked up a tube and at first it was a disaster.  All my lashes clumped together and it gave next to no volume.  Not that I have learned to manage the brush and the formula I can build up pretty long lashes that seem fluttery.  :) WIN!

Last up is my Unii palette.  It is housing my most used MAC neutral eyeshadows but I love it for many reasons.  Mainly the ginormous mirror.  It comes in handy for when I am doing my makeup in tutorials and also if I am cramped for time and I am in odd places in my house.  :)

So with all the makeup talk I decided to use all of these products in a Face Of The Day and here it is.  Sorry my hair is a mess but I was trying to get these pictures together to post ASAP.

**Some of the items listed in this post were provided for my consideration.

MAC Hush, Hush Tendertone

I have loved Tendertones from MAC since I was first introduced to them a few years ago.  Tendertones are lip balms in pot form.  They smell wonderfully fruity like strawberry-kiwi or watermelon.  I am very excited to see that MAC has brought some back in the Shop, Cook collection.  And *EEEEEP*!!! Look at the adorable gingham print packaging :)
The cute packaging is just a sleeve that goes over the regular MAC packaging.  The packaging under the cutesy stuff gives you all the information on the actual product.  As you see from the picture below this balm has SPF 12.

The pot is the same shape and size of the MAC Paintpots.  It is also eligible for the Back2MAC program.

Hush, Hush is a peachy-bronze shade infused with golden shimmer.

There also seems to be flashes of some iridescent micro glitter.  Nothing over-the-top but very beautiful.

Notice below that the balm doesn’t look like a shimmer/glitter bomb on the lips, just a subtle shimmer.  It does add a wonderful sheen and it is deeply hydrating.

My Newest Addiction Rating: ♥ (5 out of 5)  This product is creamy, hydrating, beautiful, has SPF, and smells amazing.  I have not one complaint about this product.  Tendertones have been one of my favorite lip balms since I started discovering MAC.  This shade specifically is gorgeous.  I honestly think that all of the colors in the recent collection are beautiful and I don’t think you could go wrong with any of them.
