Julep Maven is a monthly subscription from Julep.com. You get an assortment of products from Julep for $19.99. Every month they come out with a few different boxes, they give you the opportunity to chose which box you want or skip the month entirely. I love that it is a recurring box and I have a set profile that usually fits me perfectly (so if I forget it will still come), but I also enjoy having the option to skip. There are also referral/reward points. Each box that your purchase gives you points. Once you accumulate a certain amount of points you can redeem them for a free box and/or add-ons to your box.
This month the Boho Glam box had two nail polishes and a lipgloss.
The lipgloss is called Charming. It feels good on the lips. It has a natural-pink color with a sheer, glossy finish.
The two polishes I received are Aisha and Alexandra. Aisha is a wildberry purple creme and Alexandra is a blonde creme. I personally love creme finishes and I think that these two shades are perfect for fall. The two together could create a very fun, yet sophisticated mani.
Overall, Julep Maven is a great deal. I have received a lot of good polishes and other products that I can’t live with out now. The Cuticle Oil and Rock Star hand cream are staples in my collection now. If you want to sign up you can get your first box for 1 cent using the code PENNY or a free box using code FREEBOX. I honestly am not sure if either of these work but in the past one of them has always worked. It is a really great deal to preview the service and then fall in love!
Julep Maven is a monthly subscription box that costs $20 a month. You take a quiz and get fitted to one of a few different beauty profiles. You have the option before the month starts to switch profiles, stay the same, or skip that month. You get to preview all of the boxes available for that month, so you aren’t blind to what you are getting. The profile I fit into is Boho Glam.
The July 2013 Boho Glam box includes two nail polish shades and a body product. The two nail polishes are Faye (a liquid bronze shimmer) and Karen (a peach bellini frost).
The real star of this box is the Beach Tonic.

The Julep Beach Tonic smells awesome. It honestly smells like a fresh day at the beach. I want to spritz this on myself daily and I am saddened when I run out of this. This product alone retails for $23 so it worth more than the cost of the box alone. If you want to sign up for Julep you can get your first month free with the code FREEBOX.
I never actually showed my box from Julep for June 2013. I did however show the polish named Raegan in my MUFE Aqua Rouge post. It has the same name as my daughter which is why I chose that box. Payton is the other shade that was included in the box.
It is a nice grass green color, possibly even kelly green. The picture above shows two coats, which still allows the whites of your nails to show through.
In case you want to sign up for Julep you can get your first box for free using my referral code FREEBOX!
It has been months since I actually chose to have my Julep Maven box shipped. There was a new option to choose from this go round and it was the Maven’s Choice Box. This box was voted on by Julep Mavens and curated from our votes. With tomorrow (Tuesday) being voting day here in the US I thought this was very fitting to be posted up and shared! :)
The cards included in this box were fun and offered tidbits of advice: from fashion to gift giving.
And in addition to the items in the box that I already knew about they threw in these wonderful nail polish remover pads (3 to be exact). I have already used one of them and they are spectacular. Just one pad took off the majority of my polish. I had thick layers on so I am surprised that one did what it did. These get two thumbs up and are added to my stocking-stuffer list!
The two polishes in this box were Trina and the Matte Top Coat. I have 3 other Matte Top coats so I am going to use this one for an upcoming giveaway! ;) I took the plastic wrapping off of Trina but didn’t open it. I am thinking that I am going to use it in an upcoming giveaway as well! Sorry there are no swatches of these! I hope you forgive me.
The main reason I wanted this box was because of the Pink Grapefruit Body Scrub. I really enjoy a nice body scrub and was sure that I would enjoy this one due to loving other exfoliating products from Julep. I am happy to report that I was correct. I really liked the scrub. It came with a towel and mit. The scrub itself is very gritty and really does the job it sets out to do. Immediately once water is running over the scrub the sugar crystals dissolve and you are left with the most luxurious moisturizer. I am planning to reserve this scrub for my feet vs other areas of my body. My feet have been lacking the moisture they once retained and I need to figure out a way to seal the moisture back in. I think this may be the ticket!

*I am in no way sponsored for this post, I purchased this subscription with my own money. I am making use of referral link.
Yep, you read it right. No polish today. For weeks now my nails have been peeling and breaking off and they are all at different lengths. They are stained and basically just in bad shape all the way around. I have some new products that I want to test so I am dedicating this entire week (maybe a little less because I am weak) to being nail polish free and totally nourishing my nails! Here are a few of the products I plan to use to get them back in shape…
The products I am using to do this are: the Julep Essential Cuticle Oil, Clarins Hand and Nail Treatment Cream, Sally Hansen Nails & Cuticles Hand Cream, Strong Nail System Daily Moisturizer, and a 4 sided buffer.
The Julep Essential Cuticle Oilis a product I have been using for nearly a year now. I love it. It is deeply hydrating and sturdy. I have it tucked down in a side pocket on my purse and pull it out when I have down time (or when I think about it).
The Clarins Hand and Nail Treatment Cream is a GREAT hand cream. The texture is hard to describe but it makes my hands feel like silk afterwards. It softens hands, strengthens nails, and minimizes age spots. I have an age spot on my left hand and it really bothers me. I am slightly insecure about it… Not really sure why but I have noticed slight fading over the last few months since I have been using this hand cream regularly. I keep this stowed away in my handbag too!
Sally Hansen is a genius of a lady! She creates so many fabulous products and her Nails & Cuticles Hand Cream is nothing short of terrific. It has a light citrus scent and uses shea butter to moisturize. I really like the feel of this hand cream as well. It leaves my hands feeling nourished. Lots of times I dab a bit of the cream just on the cuticles and rub it in. Instant pick me up for dried up cuticles.
Strong Nail System Daily Moisturizer is a product that I am just now starting to use. I don’t have much to report on as I am still in the early stages of testing. It contains Jojoba Oil which moisturizes the cuticle and brings a balance to the moisture in the nail to prevent brittleness. It also contains Keratin which I find really interest. I have a lot hope in this product, so wish it luck!
And the Tropical Shine Mini 4-way Buffer is an item I pick up from Sally’s nearly every time I enter the store. I have used this specific buffer for years. This is my bazillionth one. Let me just call it “ole trusty!” I love it. It helps me get the staining off of the top layer of my nails and also perfect them. It leaves me with no ridges and if I just want naked nails it brings them to a BEAUTIFUL high shine finish. Like I have 3 coats of clear polish! I love it. (I know I already said it, but I really do!)

*All of the products in this post were purchased by me. This post is not sponsored in any way. I am using a referral link for Julep.
Hello…. I got my Julep Maven box in the mail this past Friday. Yes, I decided to go with American Beauty this month. It is such a gorgeous collection of colors. I couldn’t resist.
First of all, look at how festive the box is. The 4th of July is right around the corner and I am completely looking forward to it. This box is perfect! AND they included Fireballs, which happen to be one of my favorite candies of my youth.
I love how they add little special touches to their packaging. First off the paper with stars is adorable and then the red bow, but wow… the quote itself is really something special.
Here are the 3 polishes that came in this box.
I did a post a week or two ago showing you guys the extra gift that came in this bag and I absolutely adore it! Love it to pieces. It is called America the Beautiful. It is described as “a shiny red with royal blue glitter and sterling silver stars.”
Lynn is a beautiful “nude blush pearl.”
Yumi is a “pink opalescent multi-dimensional glitter.”
Peony is the first lipgloss I have gotten from Julep and I think it is basically Lynn in a gloss form. It is descriped as a “nude blush creme lip vernis.” You can see it swatched below.
Here you can see Peony applied to my lips. It is a gorgeous nude color. This is all by itself on my lips. It really adds a beautiful softness. Have I mentioned before that I love nude lips? ;)
So in honor of the 4th of July I actually did a manicure with American the Beautiful. I also used Zoya Sooki for the french tip twist.
Which Julep Mavenbox did you get? Have you gotten a box at all yet? You should definitely get your hands on America the Beautiful if you haven’t yet!
Julep has released this photo on their Facebook page and said that this will be a freebie in July’s box. Depending on your shipping address you will either receive an America the Beautiful or O Canada!
The Maven Boxes haven’t been released just yet but this is a preview of what to look forward to!! I know that they are CURRENTLY using promo codes to get your first box for a penny but I am unsure if they are going to be available for next month. The code is “Penny” This says that preview email arrives on Wednesday (June 20th) and you can make changes from then to June 24th. My guess is that is when they will be live for the public so if you haven’t gotten your first box now is the time to check it out!
WOW! Time FLEW during one of the longest months in the year. I barely realized I was at the end of it until it was already June! (Which explains why this is going up on June 5th! LOL Anyway!! I had lots of favorites, beauty and non-beauty related (even though I think they are beautiful)!
First up is a surprising product. When I first swatched the Sephora + Pantone Universe Prisma Chrome Blush in Apricot Brandy I was thinking that it was entirely too shimmery to wear on it’s own. I was thinking this was highlighter status and that was about it. A fellow Beauty Buddy of mine said that she wanted it and it made me think that I should probably pull it out and give it a try…. well low and behold… it was on my cheeks for the rest of the month without skipping a day! To see the swatches, go here. Anyway, upon really giving it a go I find that it leaves a beautiful sheen to the cheek… not glittery at all.
A few other favorites this month were the Milani HD Advanced Concealer and the Coach Poppy Rollerball. I have been using the Milani concealer for more than just May. I have a few others that I use on a regular basis and love as well but I find this one is my go-to “I am in a hurry and need to cover this blemish NOW” type of concealer. It consistently stays in my handbag as well.
The Coach Poppy is an Eau de Parfum in a rollerball form that stays in my handbag as well. Nothing like having a good solid staple scent traveling with you. And almost everytime I am rolling it on at work I have someone ask me what it is and when I hand it over they sneak some for themselves! ;P
A cream eyeshadow that I have been wearing under just about everything this month is the Maybelline Color Tattoo in Bad to the Bronze. I did swatches on it that you can see here. It is another one of those colors that can get you out the door quick… there seems to be a trend with my favorites this month… I am serious ladies (and gentlemen), I felt like this whole month went WOOOSH!
Staple nail polish colors for me this month were Essie Grenadine and Julep Penelope. Very simple and very pretty. They go with everything and the scream who I am… girly but sophisticated? ;)
Right now Julep is still doing their first box for a penny so if you would like to join here is my referral link.. The codes to get your first box for 1 cent are COLORS4ONE, PENNY, or TWITTER1. They all work. I promise you wont regret it!
One of my BELOVED taupe palettes is the NARS Best (9944) palette. If you would like to see another Monthly Favorites post I did with it here you go!This is a palette that I simply can’t get enough of… I don’t know if it is because it is mostly taupe shades or if it is just so easy to throw a look together and have it look complete. Something about this collection of eyeshadows really is the Best. NARS is so creative with their names! :) Sadly this is a discontinued palette but all of the shades in it are permanent.
OK ladies… If you don’t want to get addicted to something pretty awesome then scroll right away from this next picture and forget you ever saw it. Giorgio Armani Eyes To Kill mascara has been a staple for me all month. THIS IS THE MOST AMAZING MASCARA EVERRRRRR! I am so glad that I allowed myself to open up another mascara so that I could try this out for the sake of reviews! See what I did there??? ;) Anyway… I have a full in depth review coming up on this very soon so I won’t get into it now… but you already know you want it, right?
Another Giorgio Armani product that I have been using the entire month of May is the Smooth Silk Eye Pencil. It is a really nice black pencil that lines the waterline without much fuss and also smudges very nicely onto the lash line. Nothing too much to be said other than that… It is the first one I reach for every day!!
First non-beauty item is my Trollbeads bracelet. My sister got me into these a few years ago and as an anniversary present my husband bought the the chain, clasp and a few beads. I have enjoyed adding on and have gotten some fun and fabulous beads. I think it is about time for a new bracelet… Hope the hubby is reading this. :D
A STAPLE for me during the warm months (and I live in FL so that means 10 months of the year) are the Dr. Dennis Gross Alpha Beta Glow Pads. These have been in several of my posts for months and months so if you haven’t caught on… just go get some! Seriously! So many skin benefits as well as a GORGEOUS tan!
And for those of you that don’t know, FL and much of the rest of the east coast had to deal with Tropical Storm Beryl for quite a long time. The rain was ridiculous and made me slightly miserable after a while… and then I remembered that I had my BUNNY UMBRELLA! This is from Etude House and was limited edition if I recall. A lovely friend who was living in Korea picked this up for me last year and I am forever thankful! If this little guy breaks on me one day (like most umbrellas tend to do) I am going to cry my eyes out. I wish I would have gotten one of these in every color it came in.
Last but not least I am loving my Old Navy Rhinestone Embellished Flip-Flops. You know why these were worn most days in May? Because my office only allows flip-flops on Fridays and they actually consider this a sandal because of the strap that goes around the back!!!!!!! :) I can be pretty clever sometimes. haha
Anyway! Thanks for reading what I was addicted to during the month of May! What were you addicted to? Any one thing in particular or LOTS, like myself? Let me know below! Thanks for stopping by!
Julep has some great boxes coming in June! I skipped out on my box altogether for this month because I had too many similar colors already but I still wanted to show you all what was to come for June!!
I know that you can still join Julep subscription during May for a penny but I’m not sure if you would get May’s box or if it would be June’s since it is so late in the month!! The code is ShareOnMay. Click here to join!
